Problem of human identity in the work of Federico García Lorca in the context of crisis of Europian thinking
Byronová, Lucie ; Sánchez Fernández, Juan Antonio (advisor) ; Housková, Anna (referee)
The thesis focuses on two plays and one poetry collection by Federico García Lorca; El público, Así que pasen cinco an͂ os and Poeta en Nueva York, which together form the New York cycle and represent a new and unique phase in his compositions both from the point of view of content and form. The thesis concentrates on several distinctive motifs and themes related to the problem of human identity; ie the motifs and themes which discuss how to understand the individual or the human existence. This topic is reflected in the cultural context of Lorca's age, demonstrating that the atmosphere of the era corresponded with the author's personal perspective. The interpretation of human existence is strongly determined by the moment of death, therefore, the representation of death in the works and the related motifs are discussed in the thesis. At the same time, the similarity of Lorca's perspective with the philosophical ideas of the era is taken into consideration, with the emphasis on the philosophy of Martin Heidegger. In this context, we also focus on the author's relation to Christianity and the use of the Christian motifs in his plays and poems. In the following chapters, the motifs of mask and form are analysed. The thesis concentrates on the problem of the social mask, but also on the question of...
Between Human and Animal. Construction of Dog's Subjectivity
Labusová, Barbora ; Grygar, Jakub (advisor) ; Hirschová, Marta (referee)
The bachelor thesis "Between human and animal: Construction of dog's subjectivity"deals with the problem of position of pets, dogs particularly, to the categorisation of human and animal. Its aim is to describe what the manners of stating the dog's subjectivity are, by studying the keeper's behaviour toward their dogs, and to prove that the dogs are beside of the notion of the strict division of culture and society on one side and nature on the other. Theoretically the author relies on the thoughts of researchers, who deal with societies where people don't divide culture and nature and non-humans are endowed with subjectivity, methodologically the thesis is anchored in ethnographic approach. As for the research, the author conducted six interviews with dog -keepers, which were complemented by observation of people and their dogs while dog-walking. The empirical part is focused on the data analysis and the author describes the dog-keepers' behaviour and looking for such behaviour through which people establish dogs' subjectivity. The thesis shows, that people think of their dogs as family members, who are often treated as children and impute them with human personality and abilities. However, people realise, that their pet dog is still the beast. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Patterns of usage of online social network Facebook: a psychographic analysis
Pokorný, Daniel ; Švelch, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Dvořák, Tomáš (referee)
In this diploma thesis I explore the topic of publics on online social networking sites. I also focused on how the concept of publics affects how users behave and present themselves on online social networking sites, taking Facebook as an example. Identity management is an extensively researched area. However, less attention is paid to understanding the ways how users define their audience and how precise such a concept can actually be. In this thesis I set to understand how teenagers think and conceptualize different types of audiences they may encounter and how such imagined audience influences the way they use Facebook. Since this is a topic considerably difficult to think of let alone speak about, especially for young people, I chose projective techniques used in a focus group to overcome these obstacles. Using this method I tried to get answers on the research questions and obtain an insight as to how people imagine their audiences on online social networking sites, what are the most prominent types of users, and how it affects, in turn, their usage of Facebook. A similar type of research can be conducted also for other groups of online social networking sites users as well as for other online social networking sites. The next possible step can be a quantitative study assessing the stated...

The second part is methodology, which describes the qualitative research which took place in terms of exploration of the topic, the third part is the analysis of the data itself, which is supported with extracts of the interviews. In this part, the author separately explores the view of the people on themselves and on the society and compares it with expert literature.
Differences in the resolution of sea territories conflicts in areas with energy resources
Bančanský, Andrej ; Karlas, Jan (advisor) ; Parízek, Michal (referee)
Energy security is an important phenomenon of the contemporary world. A significant number of oil and gas reserves are located on the seabed. Expansion of oil and gas drilling to deeper and from shore more remote locations can again raise the question of ownership of these deposits. On one hand, there are regions of the world where these disputes over borders of maritime territories escalate into a series of clashes and incidents. On the other hand, there are other areas where states can settle their disputes and cooperate on drilling. The goal of this study is to determine which factors lead to the fact that particularly in the South China Sea disagreement about the boundaries of maritime territories results in the escalation of disputes in comparison with the regions of the North Sea and the Caribbean Sea, where disputes are solved or minimized. These factors are represented by six variables, which are based on three theories: a realist, idealist and constructivist theory of international relations. The first part of this study describes the historical development of current international maritime law with regard to the territorial division of the world's oceans. It is followed by a description of three case areas. The second part deals with the theoretical foundations of the examined factors. In...

Judith Butler's Concept of Performative Gender and the Rebellion Against Normativity: Sandra Cisneros's Woman Hollering Creek
Zelenková, Alena ; Procházka, Martin (advisor) ; Ulmanová, Hana (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to give an account of Judith Butler's theory of performative gender in order to analyse Sandra Cisneros's short stories. The primary sources include Butler's Gender Trouble and Bodies That Matter, and Cisneros's Woman Hollering Creek and Other Short Stories. The thesis also provides interpretation of other complementary primary sources; Discipline and Punish by Michel Foucault, Antigone's Claim by Judith Butler, "Signature Event Context" by Jacques Derrida, and Borderlands by Gloria Anzaldúa. The variety of primary sources hints on the interdisciplinary nature of the methodical approach of this thesis; from feminist theories, philosophy of language, and criticism of discursive power to literary analysis. The necessity to look at the question of performative gender from various perspectives stems from a wide scope of Butler's complex argumentation. The primary sources draw attention to different aspects of this thesis. Gender Trouble allows for deeper understanding of gender from Butler's point of view and enables us to observe the deconstruction of the sex/gender dichotomy, a basis for her disproval of the supposed naturalness of the division of sexes. In Bodies That Matter, Butler further develops the concept of performative gender while she draws her argument from the...

Informace o této problematice byly získávány prostřednictvím kvalitativních výzkumných metod, tedy pomocí polostrukturovaných a skupinových interview a také metod zúčastněného a nezúčastněného pozorování v hodinách taneční a pohybové výchovy. Podporuje...
