Specific nutriton as a means of own self-creation of human pesonality - athletes. Case Study
TEPLÁ, Kateřina
Modern times bring a number of new views on the perception of the meaning and role of nutrition in human life. Observing the current lifestyle we can see considerable differences in particular individuals. This work deals with the problem of specific nutrition in connection with a regular sport activity as contributory factors which create the lifestyle of a sportsperson. This work concentrates on the individual for whom the strict and specifically focused nutrition in connection with a regular sports activity creates an inherent part of their life and is therefore the way to fulfillment ? to self-assembly in numerous directions. The goal of this work was to describe the composition of diet and its changes connected to different stages of a sportsman´s ? body-builder´s training plan. To map possible bio.psycho-social consequences. For the implementation of this research a qualitative research strategy was chosen. The research was carried out as a case study. The reference file has been made of a couple of sportspeople-body-builders. A woman and a man representing the current trend of fitness ? body-building followers for whom the connection of sport and well-focused nutrition represents one of their life´s values. The research was implemented in a wider timeframe, in a frame from May 2012 to January 2013. Semi-structured interviews, observation, evidence of different personal documents and activity results were used as data collecting methods. For the data analysis a qualitative analysis of written-down interviews, observations and personal documents, and activity results was carried out. From the conducted research of the particular case it was further found out that the nutrition of a body-builder changes during the different stages of the training preparation, even in rapid ways. Changes of the total amount of food, the change of the ratio or amounts of particular nutrients as well as changes in the choice of consumed food are observable. The observed changes of the sportspeople´s eating correspond with the theoretical knowledge given in the theoretical part of this work. At the bulk stage of this work the eating of the observed couple was characterized by a relatively high intake of energy, especially as the permanently higher intake of carbohydrates, a high intake of proteins and out of all the stages by the highest demanded feed of fat. In the cutting phase of the preparation the food of the observed couple was characterized, on the average, by a lower intake of energy, especially thanks to the limitation of the intake of carbohydrates, by the same or higher amount of proteins than at the bulk stage. The intake of fat in the man´s food basically didn´t change, but the woman decreased the amount of received fat compared to the bulk stage. At the final stage of the preparation the food of the woman was absolutely specific. During the resting and recovery phase of the preparation the eating of the observed couple did not show any strictly given requirements. Out of the research results it is clear that the sportspeople´s approach to food is varied, it differs according to the phase of training preparation. Food can be therefore either an enjoyment or the need to a sportsperson. For the observed couple, food isn´t a taboo. This specific and to some extent extreme lifestyle brings certain positives and certain risks with it. This work can be used as an information material for nutrition therapists focused on working with sportspeople, and for informing sportspeople themselves as well as the wider society about the possibilities of the effects of extremes in nutrition.

Social organization and communication of flying foxes focused on the genus Rousettus
Vašíčková, Pavla ; Jahelková, Helena (advisor) ; Lučan, Radek (referee)
Within the family Pteropodidae there are different types of social systems, depending on the species. Reproductive activity of Egyptian fruit bat (Rousettus aegyptiacus) is based on the latitude, when in milder latitudes individuals tend to be seasonally monoestry, southerly living individuals are less synchronous. Gestation lasts about four months and in most cases one young is born and mother cares about it. Egyptian fruit bats often inhabit caves, while there may live thousands of individuals and even more together. Pteropodidae are focused on plant food, which they choose according to the many criteria. Members of the genus Rousettus belong to the food generalists and their diet includes trees and herbs, from which they consume fruits, flowers, nectar, pollen, shoots and leaves. They were also observed by eating beetles of the family Scarabidae. Flying foxes of the genus Rousettus are special, because they orient by echolocation. They emit short broadband signals through the vibration of the language, whose length ranges from 50-100 s. From other chiropteran families they differ through the way of production the signals. In addition to echolocation senses of smell and sight are key in terms of communication. The smell is important mainly in attracting a partner, for mutual recognition between...

Lenka Frnochová The effect of atorvastatin on the expression of markers of the cascade transforming growth factor beta in experimental atherogenesis. Diploma thesis Charles Univerzity in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Pharmacy Background: The aim of this diploma thesis was to observed the expression of ALK-1 and VEGF in atherosclerotic plaques in ApoE and LDL receptor- deficient mice with regard to the use of atorvastatin. Methods: We used for research female C57BL/6J mice with double deficiency of apolipoprotein E and LDL receptor. Mice were 8 weeks old. Mice were divided into two groups: atorvastatin and control group. Both groups were fed cholesterol diet for 8 weeks and in atorvastatin group was also fed with atorvastatin. Then biochemical analysis of blood was performed. For detection of lipids in atherosclerotic lesions we used histological staining by oil red. Immunohistochemical analysis was performed in 1cm aortic sinus and part of aortic arch. The method used to detect the expression of ALK-1 and VEGF was the avidin-biotin method with detection using DAB. Results: Biochemical analysis showed that atorvastatin reduced levels of total cholesterol. After the staining by oil red atherosclerotic lesions were seen in both groups. Atorvastatin reduced the size of atherosclerotic...

Effect of feeding MDOCTM the atherogenic process in experimental / / model of atherosclerosis.
Tomalová, Pavla ; Nachtigal, Petr (advisor) ; Kopecký, Martin (referee)
Influence of MDOCTM Administration on Atherogenic Process in the Experimental Model of Atherosclerosis. Mgr. Pavla Tomalová In this study we investigated prospective hypolipidemic and anti - inflammatory effects of modified oxidized cellulose (MDOC). In the therapy of hyperlipidemia and blood - vessel complications (atherosclerosis) there are used the most considerable substances - statins, today. However, it was also documented, that feed dietary roughage has positive influence on cardiovascular system, inclusive of cholesterol level. MDOC (polyanhydroglucuronic acid), because of it's properties can be classified probably as the soluble fibre. We used apoE deficient mice as the model of atherosclerosis, fed by atherogenic diet. We analyzed levels of total cholesterol and other lipoprotein fractions and serum concentrations of inflammatory markers (IL-6 and VCAM-1) in blood. Total cholesterol concentrations were assessed enzymatically by conventional diagnostic methods and spectrophotometric analyses. For the detection of VCAM-1 expression in aortic sinus and part of aortic arch we used imunohistochemical methods and for quantification of VCAM-1 expression we used stereological methods. Biochemical analyses results showed that MDOC administration did not affect levels of total cholesterol, VLDL cholesterol,...

Effect of administration of drugs from the group of statins on the atherogenic process / / in an experimental model of atherosclerosis.
Koutníková, Jitka ; Nachtigal, Petr (advisor) ; Trejtnar, František (referee)
The effects statins administration on atherogenic process in the experimental model of atherosclerosis. Mgr. Jitka Koutníková The aim of this rigorous work was to detect and quantify the changes of endothelial expression of VCAM - 1 (the marker of endothelial dysfunction) and endoglin (the marker of angiogenesis) in vessel wall of apoE deficient mice. Endoglin is a part of the receptor complex of the transformation growing factor beta (TGF - beta). Statins are the most considerable substances for the treatment of hyperlipidemia and blood - vessel complications (atherosclerosis). Statins decrease levels of LDL cholesterol and also of triglycerides. Moreover, pleiotropic effects take important part in statin's benefit: the decrease of activity of inflammatory and prothrombotic processes. We used apoE deficient mice as the model of atherosclerosis, fed by standard laboratory diet. We analyzed the levels of total cholesterol in blood and we observed expression of VCAM - 1 and endoglin in aortic sinus and part of aortic arch in all mice. Total cholesterol concentrations were assessed enzymatically by conventional diagnostic methods and spectrophotometric analyses. To display VCAM-1 and endoglin expression in aortic sinus and part of aortic arch we used imunohistochemical methods and for quantification of VCAM-1...
