The legal status and activities of the Czech National Bank
Prokop, Tomáš ; Vondráčková, Pavlína (advisor) ; Novotný, Petr (referee)
Legal status and content of activities of Czech national bank This thesis deals with legal issues of Czech National Bank. The aim of this work is the analysis of the basic institutes, the most important and the most controversial statutory provisions and also to introduce the most important activities of the central bank to the reader and explaining him why are these activities needed and what is their function in the system. Due to limited range of this thesis the author took considerable volume of this topic in account, that's why some chapters aim merely the most important information to explain the issue correctly and to help the reader to understand the contexts. This work is divided to seven chapters (including the Inroduction) and to the Conclusion, list of used shortuts, literature and attachments. In the Introduction the author acquaints the reader with reason, why has he choosen right this issue as the topic of his thesis and lays out the targets to be accomplished by his work. In the second chapter is the reader acquainted with the historical development of central banking on the territory of present Czech Republic - since the Austro-Hungarian monarchy to the evolution of current Czech National Bank. In the conclusion of this chapter the author analysis the possibilities of the immediate future...

The new age of the old self - the New Age spirituality in the light of Advaitic teaching
Masojídek, Milan ; Matějů, Martin (referee) ; Czumalo, Vladimír (advisor)
This work deals with a phenomenon of New Age movement and summarizes its fundamental visions. Afterwards these visions are interpreted in context of spiritual teaching and practicing of Advaita Vedanta. This approach enables studying of New Age spirituality from existential point of view and one gains an idea about its position not only in terms of eternal contemporary selfsearching but also more complex in terms of specific situation of modern man and his culture due to culturologic perspective. New Age within the scope of such approach appears as an environment where one can live more spiritually and which can be good base on a journey of deep spiritual understanding due to emphasis on individual selfsearching, freedom, internal responsibility and idea of Unity. However, for this seems to be necessary to step out of limited and comfortable New Age category - if it is comfortable mainly for ego and its needs, valuables and interrelated category of limited individual thinking. It is a level on the journey of understanding which has to be leaved as well as "searching" itself provided that the understanding would be fully realized. Such conclusion challenges deeper culturologic reflection of category or more likely of manifestations or statuses of odd principle of conscious existence and their relation to the...

Conceptualisation of Ethnicity in the Context of the Sri Lankan Conflict Transformation
Dopita, Tomáš ; Knotková - Čapková, Blanka (advisor) ; Klimešová, Martina (referee)
Diploma thesis "Conceptualization of ethnicity in the context of transformation of Sri Lankan conflict" concerns the protracted social conflict in Sri Lanka in respect of relevant theories and possibilities for a peaceful transformation of the crisis. By means of content analysis I uncover the ontological and epistemological understanding of ethnicity within scholarly discussions of "ethnic conflict", selected discourses on multiculturalism and the politics of recognition, feminism and postcolonial studies. I attempt to relate and critically evaluate the conceptualizations of ethnicity contained within these discourses in respect of the Sri Lankan conflict and the challenges to its peaceful transformation. I argue that the understanding of ethnicity in the field of "ethnic conflict" studies, as presented within the limits of this thesis, is derived substantially from knowledge produced in the context of nation, nationalism and the modern nation state conceptual framework. The general theoretisation of ethnicity is therefore confined to the narrow view of a "Westphalian imagination". Ethnicity is thus passively accepted as a given quality of a de facto homogeneous group, operating within the circumscribed political society defined by the sovereignty of the modern state. However, as I argue, the explanatory...

The integrating process of romany children in to kindergarten
Kovandová, Jana ; Opravilová, Eva (referee) ; Koťátková, Soňa (advisor)
My diploma work is focused on issues of the integrating process of Romany children into kindergarten. This process is an important presumption for future, successful, whole-life education of these children. The theoretic part clarifies a position of Romany minority in society. It focuses on their separation within historical and social context. Special attention is dedicated to characteristic of preschool age children development, which is focused on Romany child and its situation in family and kindergarten. The practical part finds out factual situation in delimited locality. From teacher's point of view it specifies problems and tried method of working, which is brought with integrating. It limits reasons, and discovers benefits as they are perceived by Romany parents. The acquired information and verified experience can be the basis for creation of the specific integrating proposal.

Two translations of Lady Chatterley's Lover by S. Jílovská and F. Vrba
Petrášková, Radka ; Kalivodová, Eva (advisor) ; Abdallaova, Naděžda (referee)
This thesis attempts to explore the role of the translator's gender in the two translations of D. H. Lawrence's novel Lacfy Chatterlry's Lover. Within the limited context of an M.A. thesis, the writer submits the following: 1. A biography of D. H. Lawrence and a short overv1ew and periodization of his extensive work. 2. An exploration of the position of D.H. Lawrence among his contemporaries together with an attempt to determine his position in the context of the modernist movement and other literary streams and of his life and of the previous epoch. 3. A short overview of D. H. Lawrence's individual philosophy, his attitude to and understanding of women and men women relationships and the reflection of these views in Lawrence's work. An exploration of Lawrence's fiction of women and his fiction woman's experience of physical love is included. 4. An overview of the genesis of D. H. Lawrence's novel Lacfy Chatteriry'J Lover, including a factual appraisal of previous versions and an account of its content. A more comprehensive coverage of the topic follows, including an account of the reception of D. H. Lawrence's work in Great Britain and in the USA, and of Lacfy Chatterlry'.r Lover in particular, as well as Lawrence's clash with censorship. There is an examination of the early reception of Lawrence's work...

Life of Homosexuals in Context of Roman-Catholic Church Teaching
Šimková, Hana ; Bauerová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Drobík, Tomáš (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the approach of Roman-Catholic Church to homosexuals and as well on claims and limitation caused by this approach. I especially try to find out why the attitude towards homosexuals and their relationships is so hard, strict and non"compromised. What is the basic for condemnation of homosexual life? Are ways out in RCC ́S teaching about homosexuality indisputably truthful? The main aim of my thesis is to answer these question. Roman-Catholic Church has a huge requirement, which demands from homosexuals, nothing less than to be clean for the rest of the life. This requirement does not have any analogy neither in the heterosexual part of population or in clergy. Therefore it is necessary to know all circumstances, which lead RCC to this requirement. In fact it ment to focused on biblical passages used by RCC as an argument to condemnation homosexual relationship. Moreover, I had to analyse the style of work with these arguments in RCC ́S documents. As if the requirement is not based on relevant facts and truthful principles, than this approach to homosexuals should has been changed. Gradually during my work, it gets more and more evident that the negative approach to homosexual relationship does not stand on the firm basis. The way of style at work with biblical passages...

Connection between lattice models and continuum-mechanics models
Gottwald, Vít
The aim of this thesis is an investigation of lattice models in the context of Lebowitz-Penrose limit to provide a link between the underlying statistical mechanical models to the mesoscopic "continuous" description based on the nonlocal free energy functional. First, the basic formalism of statistical mechanics is introduced and an extended Blume-Capel model (r-model) defined. Then the mean-field approximation is discussed including a phase diagram of the classical Blume-Capel model. Fruther, the Lebowitz-Penrose theorem for the r-model is carried out from the scratch. All bounds are explicitly calculated. As a tool within the proof, the free energy functional is introduced and a transition from discrete to continuous variables is emerges. Finally, the basics of the van der Waals mesoscopic theory are discussed and a link with the original lattice model is established via the free energy functional.

Artificial intelligence with regards to relations among mind, body and machine
Farská, Kateřina ; Sigmund, Tomáš (advisor) ; Brixí, Radim (referee)
This thesis is dealing with relation between man and machine in terms of mind, life and body with regards to artificial intelligence. The first part of the work focuses on explanation of the historical preconditions for the emergence of artificial intelligence. A very important milestone can be found in separation of mind and body in Descartes' dualistic approach. Cartesian dualism highlighted the mind-body problem, which even nowadays is being inflected in connections with artificial intelligence. Newtonian mechanics, which is built on the Descartes' thoughts, applied the idea of the world as a mechanical machine which ultimately led to the fact that the human body began to be understood as a machine. This creates space for thoughts about constructing an artificial being -- thinking machine. Artificial intelligence is being confronted with the relationship between man and machine. In the second part of the work an analysis of the differences and congruencies between these two entities will be made -- with regards to the concepts such as machine, life, natural, artificial, mental state, mind, consciousness, body. The findings will be compared and the nature of the relationship between man and machine will be carried out accordingly to them. The last part of the work will investigate how the findings of the relationship between man and machine, mind and body are being applied in different approaches of artificial intelligence. Particularly, a detailed analysis of computer functionalism will be made. This traditional concept of artificial intelligence is based on the assumption of algorithmical nature of mind that can be modeled using symbolic representations. The analysis will be complemented by alternative approaches in artificial intelligence -- connectionism and enaction-based artificial intelligence. All the three approaches will be evaluated accordingly to the findings made in the previous part of the work. The purpose of this work is to highlight the importance of the relationship between man and machine, mind and body with regards to artificial intelligence and the further development and direction of this discipline. The work will track the line of Cartesian-Newtonian thinking in the context of the issue. The potentialities and limitations of this paradigm, dualistic and materialistic (mechanistic) approach will be pointed out. In this work, the method of summarization and compilation, based on presenting the relevant information and explanation of their relations and context, was chosen.
