Trunk ortheses and their application in the treatment of scoliosis
Čáková, Marcela ; Šamánková, Marie (advisor) ; Vyskočil, Tomáš (referee)
People with the spinal column deformity are first time mentioned already in the times of ancient civilizations, about 3500 years' BC. Those people were mostly proscribed from the common society. Hippocrates was the first who described scoliosis as an illness. The scoliosis is a pathological space curvature of the spine to right or left side in the frontal plane. It is very often accompanied with the rotation of vertebras. Structural scoliosis is a fixed lateral (sideway) curve of the spine. It is conditioned by structural changes of the vertebras body, its rotation and the vertebras parts asymmetry. Nonstructural scoliosis hasn't got anatomical basis of its origin in the spine itself. The vertebras aren't deformed. It's caused by underlying condition such as difference in leg length. Treatment of scoliosis is often provided by conservative methods such as body brace and rehabilitation. If there is a high progression of scoliosis curve - an operative treatment is indicated. I've made a survey in the subject of "spinal braces and their use in scoliosis treatment." I've been visiting a working place where the spinal braces are made. They allowed me to communicate with patients. I've prepared a questionnaire which included seventeen questions. Thanks to it I've discovered that most of the respondents are women...

Augustinová, Šárka ; Soukup, Martin (referee) ; Ortová, Jitka (advisor)
This diploma thesis is based on the presumption that the cause of today's imbalanced situation of the culture of the West is entailed in its neglect of mostly spiritual and afiliative components of our cultural code. The thesis is mostly based on the work of P. A. Sorokin, who saw the cause of the crisis of Western culture in its prevalent sensitive components and on the other hand in the deficit of spiritual ones. In the following chapters the author is focusing on the situation of religion in today's Western culture and on the issue of ethics for contemporary civilization. As a solution to current situation she finds necessary to return to those values that stood at the birth of Europe, which in fact, in today's language, are the values for sustainable way of life. The author comes to the conclusion that contemporary Western culture needs overall overhaul of its sociocultural system, in which the spiritual values should play greater role once again.

The influence of pets to sensation of children and adolescents
Trtíková, Marie ; Janošová, Pavlína (advisor) ; Procházková, Jana (referee)
In the theoretical part of my work, at first I deal with the phenomenon of domestication of animals, its descent on today's civilization and usage in common welfare - for animals, and also for people. In families, who decided to provide a pet, plays an important role correct selection and convenient conditions for its breeding. I set the biggest accent on the meaning of animals in the therapeutical area - in so called Pet therapy. In detail I write about therapeutical usage of dogs, cats and horses. The target group became for me children of older school age, but I also mention some examples of impact of the positive influence of pets to adult population. An important part of having pets is the ability to balance with its death. All the mentioned themes in the theoretical part are further described in the practical section of my work. I made a research at Prague's grammar schools and its results are detailed written in the second part of this work.

The sixth chapter brings sight of rules established by autoregulation. It deals with self- censorship, the journalist's code of ethics, self-controlling authorities and so on. In the seventh chapter, the author examines the motivation behind submitting an accusation for the breach of personal rights. The motivation can be a real and legitimate defence...

How to survive prosperity (ethical position of conflict of tradition and consumerism)
MÖHWALDOVÁ, Kristýna
We are finding ourselves in time, when a civilization achieves a prosperity by unscrupulous behaviour towards a wealth, which had been entrusted by previous generations into our custody with purpose of its development. From the philosophical point of view it is not only about the use and maintenance of natural resources, on which the human population is dependent, but it is also about the preservation of traditions and moral norms. Even though the wealthy North tries to hide a fact of dependence of human population on nature in every possible way, under a layer of externally looking great economic progress. Society is situated in such a prosperity, when some people are beginning to realize the limits of their welfare and facade promising eternity, wealth, luxury, glamor and glory begins to crack. These individuals then paint their own colours. Colours whose shades are close to shade of nature. An individual is not the majority and dreamed well-being, which has become an idol for the majority of population, has shown us the dark side for quite some time. Increase in aggression is noticeable, the dominant feature is the indifference, individualism and consumerism wins, the birth of the value of emptiness is warning, the decline of morals and others. All this highlights the lifestyle of the consumer society, which is encouraged by suggestive influential media culture. The bachelor thesis deals with "ethical aspect of clash of tradition and consumerism." Considering the complexity of spoken question, "How to Survive prosperity" in the name of thesis and the limited space allowed by the nature of the type of thesis, I chose certain aspects of consumerism, which are to some extent analysed in the scholarly literature, but undergo dynamic changes that are more sophisticated (see the inclination to (often emptied) humanitarian actions, which in many cases serves only to appease their own unclean conscience, which I describe in one chapter of the thesis). By means of practical examples it is an attempt to draw attention to these "modernizations" and their concealment or distinctiveness. The main objective of my work is to document the shift ethical principles towards inefficiency, disdain, wastage and reasons that led the society to behave this way. Gradual steps that lead to the main goal are analysis, whose purpose is to trace the influences that act on the weakening of moral principles, abandonment of traditional forms of conduct and behaviour or ignorance of traditional cultural patterns. The research question refers to how much and in which areas is the shift of traditional moral principles more than evident, what are the possible consequences or opportunities for redress. Bachelor thesis is processed by form of theoretical work. The first part is documented through words of sociologists and philosophers with selected aspects of life in today's society (perception of time and space, the cult of entertainment, the decline of the language secularization of faith, etc.), thereafter analysis of selected social phenomena can be found, which are part of the consumer lifestyle and in terms of sustainable social development pose the historical aspect of ethical misconduct. Subsequently, by defining the consumer world and values in postmodern society I point to shift towards ethical element away from tradition and closer to the inefficiency and excessive eccentricity. In the final phase, my thesis is focused on finding solutions and methods that could ethically cultivate analysed problems. In my opinion I met the objective of this thesis, I realize however that this subject is far from exhausted, due to its wide range, and therefore it make sense to study it furthermore.

Political influences on Czechoslovak Radiojournal between September 1938 and March 1939
Veverka, Luboš ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Köpplová, Barbara (referee)
In the present work we strive to describe those political phenomena which influenced, directly or indirectly, Radiojournal Ltd., the only radio broadcaster in Czechoslovakia during 1923 - 1939. However, it is the period of the so-called 'second republic' that can be approximately set between the conclusion of the Munich Pact at the end of September 1938 and the occupation of the rest of Czechoslovakia on 15th March 1939, which is in the centre of our attention. At that time, the system of politics, power and social situation underwent a reconstitution marked above all by centralising efforts hand in hand with the suppression of liberal and democratic principles. Sometimes we talk about the so-called 'authoritative democracy'. Radiojournal could not escape these changes. Formally, it was a private company with 51 % of shares owned by the state. And civil servants or politicians themselves were members of the managing and supervisory bodies of this institution ever since 1925. This situation was maintained also during the 'second republic' when the grip of the state became even stronger. In the new situation, proposals were made to nationalize the institution. However, a number of changes were not implemented after all due to the short duration of the 'second republic's' domain. Many of these...

On the borders of modernity: west and east in Turkish prose from the Tanzimat period until the Blue Anatolia movement.
Kučera, Petr ; Malečková, Jitka (advisor) ; Šedinová, Jiřina (referee) ; Celnarová, Xénia (referee)
This dissertation examines the construction of images of "West" and "East" in modern Turkish fiction from its beginnings in the 1870s to the end of the "Kemalist prose" in the 1950s. It shows how the process of Westernization of Turkish society is reflected in literature, how the alteristic discourse about "us" and "the Others", East and West, is developed in literary texts and what impact it has on the shaping of modern Turkish identity. Part I focuses on the period of the "literary Tanzimat" (1870s - 1890s) and analyzes the perception of West and East in the novels of Namk Kemal, Şemsettin Sami, Mizanc Murat, Samipaşazade Sezai, Nabizade Nazm, Beşir Fuad, Recaizade Mahmut Ekrem and Ahmet Midhat. Special attention is given to Ahmet Midhat who had been studying and comparing both civilizations all his life. In this part, we also attempt to reevaluate some of the prevalent views of the Ottoman cultural transformation in the 19th century. We argue that this transformation was not based on the duality and collision of Western and Ottoman-Islamic ideas, institutions, lifestyles or practices (alafranga vs. alaturka), but that it gave birth to a uniquely Ottoman modernity, coming to life on the borders of both epistemological and semiotical systems and embracing positively the "hybrid" character of Ottoman...
