Slomková, Kristýna ; Buriánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Sládek, Jan (referee)
The aim of this study is to examine the contents of men's lifestyle magazines such as Maxim, Esquire, FHM, and one women's lifestyle magazine Glanc. The author used two analytical procedures: qualitative analysis by experts group and quantitative content analysis of sentences in the selected articles of the chosen magazines. The analysis pointed out the differences between the perception of content and the actual content. If the reader has some impression of the text, it does not mean that a more detailed analysis of sentences will reach the same conclusion. Effect of text is highly individual matter - this thesis came to the conclusion that although men's lifestyle magazines can be controversial for some people, upon closer examination the magazines cannot be clearly labeled as chauvinistic, cynical, ironic or tabloid. The author devoted to these categories in detail in the quantitative part of the analysis. Key words: Maxim, FHM, Esquire, Glanc, journal, magazine, lifestyle, content analysis, theme, interview, report, medium, tabloid, chauvinism, irony, cynicism

Phenomenon camp
Černá, Lucie ; Paulíček, Miroslav (advisor) ; Holeček, Tomáš (referee)
In this work we pay attention especially to the broader introducing of the phenomenon, which is called Camp. We describe here the basic features of the camp, such as excessive efforts to effect, a possession for foiled art and his seriousness, which fails. We discuss the camp view of the surrounding world, with its typical irony, and we refer also to the current form of this phenomenon. We try to show the historical development of the camp, with particular emphasis on modernity, precisely because of his perception that it is based. Space is also devoted to the development, which can be detected in the works of various authors who deal with the theme of Camp. We focus also on specific redefinition of "good" and "bad" art, and not neglecting the relationship between camp and kitsch, as it often leads to erroneous substitution of these two phenomena. Much of the work is dedicated to taste, because camp has become sociologically relevant issue in communion with it. Here we focus mainly on the different view of the taste of "upper class" and the upper class itself. We show the connection of Camp with the theory of American authors Kern and Peterson which refers to the cultural "omnivorousness". At the same time we try to indicate where in the sociological point of view upon taste there is a place for...

Kleňha, Petr ; Mravcová, Marie (advisor) ; Holý, Jiří (referee)
Metamorphoses of Narrator in Novels of Jaromír John This diploma paper focuses on the function of the narrator and his various forms in John's prosaic work. It deals with the issue of the construction of the fictional world and how the narrator influences the reader's understanding of the described events. Primarily, we try to compare the narrative categories of the main contemporary concepts as influenced by Shlomith Rimmon-Kenan, Franz Stanzel and Lubomír Doležel. It is our terminology base. Theoretical understanding of the narrator is the basis for the analysis of John's fiction from the aspect of narrative types applied to a selected sample of author's works: the anthology of the tales with war theme Večery na slamníku, novels Moudrý Engelbert, Výbušný zlotvor, Pampovánek, Honda Cibulků; marginally Estét and other works. Concurrently this work aims to describe construction methods that are typical for John's creative style - it is mainly the use of irony, the principle of collage and documentary elements. It shows that the author's work at that time belonged to the experimental stream of Czech prose. Also, we observe the relationship between author's prose work and his aesthetic concept. We hope that we were able to, at least partially, explain the literary style of Jaromir John. His importance and...
Poetry of Ludvík Kundera
Hubená, Ester ; Bílek, Petr (advisor) ; Wiendl, Jan (referee)
The thesis focuses on the poetry of Ludvík Kundera. It introduces his work in chronological order and within the contemporary literary-historical framework. The analysis and the interpretation of his early poems often refer to the war period. Language and its potentiality are a main concern in Kundera's other work. His poetry is defined in the context of avant-garde modern art: surrealism, dadaism and expressionism. The thesis researches the impact of Brecht's poetics on Kundera, too. It also introduces the persona of the artist, who significantly contributed to forming the Czech literary field during the second half of the 20th century. Kundera's poetry relates to Czech and foreign artists and their works. The poems rise from ordinary occasions, as well as showing the poet's intertextual approach. Experimentation, wordplay, lyrical humour and irony are an inherent part of Ludvík Kundera's work.

Kvardová, Kateřina ; Kloss, Jan (referee) ; Houf, Václav (advisor)
Ape Boards is my own newly formed label, which manufactures snowboards and kiteboards. For this thing I have proposed a substantial logotype, which has a function as a unifying element across the whole brand and designs boards. Website (www.apeboards.com). A first collection of snowboards and kiteboards from which I had made 7 pieces for a thesis. Designs do not 'mass' lust, because the objective is not a big production or promotion, but based on what I liked. From the minimalism through the color geometry to the gorillas, according to which the brand was named.
So as not to digress from the order of the Chronicle and not to tell ridiculous tales, I shall tell you a little something. The grotesque level in Hájek's Czech Chronicle
Havelka, Tomáš
This paper attempts to distinguish a comic level within Hájek's Czech Chronicle. Based on excerpts from anecdotal inserts, satirical and ironic passages and commentaries it finds an ongoing level of flat grotesquerie, not actually containing vulgarisms or scatological passages, but often making use of subtIe alterations of models, ludic puns on names and rythmic punchlines. Hájek used the comic both to make evaluative comments on moral shortcomings in particular and to stylistically enhance his chronicle narrative.
Fairy Tales - Non Fairy Tales (Irony and Satire in the works of I. Dankova and O. Friedrich)
VEJŠICKÁ, Martina
The subject of this thesis titled Fairy Tales - Non Fairy Tales (Irony and Satire in the works of I. Dankova and O. Friedrich) is unveiling fairy-tale motifs utilized in books intended for adults. The main task was to dismantle two works of mentioned authors and compare them. In the theoretical part of the thesis I deal with the fairy tale in general, history and I also occupied with dividing the folk and literary fairy tale, including subtypes of these two basic types. Other chapters are devoted just to the South Bohemian Region, which both writers come from and were inspired by this region. Last but not least, I deal with a creation of fairy tales intended for adult readers, after that with the definition of irony and satire, and at the very end of the theoretical part I devoted to life and work of these two authors. The practical part is based on the analysis of two selected books, specifically Machorek from Ilona Dankova and Bedtime Stories star from Olga Friedrich. My task was to bring briefly all stories closer, characterize the main characters, find fairy-tale motifs, and finally highlight components of irony and satire. At the very end I summarize both works, compare them in terms of language and evaluate which one of two authors complied with their task better.
