Foreign direct investments and their impact on the Czech Republic
Klugová, Kateřina ; Burian, Stanislav (advisor) ; Milan Robin, Milan Robin (referee)
The theoretical part of the dissertation is dedicated to the balance of the payments as well as to the theory of the direct foreign investments with the linkage to new methodology of the balance of the payments. The determinants of the direct foreign investments are consequently introduced in the economic theory. The attention is to the higher extent dedicated to the industrial and territorial break-down. The incentive system and the Agency for the support of incoming direct foreign investments (CzechInvest) are described and introduced in the connection with the system functioning in Czech Republic. The incoming direct foreign investments in the period from 2004 to 2014 are analyzed in the second part of the dissertation. The time series were set up on the basis of the annual reports and the databases of Czech National Bank; the evolution phases of direct foreign payments is consequently analyzed with the regard to the respective industries and territories. The development of the direct foreign investments and their impacts on Czech Republic is assessed in the conclusion of the dissertation. It is concluded that the development of the incoming direct foreign investments is in a close correlation with the economic situation in Czech Republic and neighboring countries. The dissertation confirms that the economic and also non-economic factors of each country are key determinants for the final level of the incoming direct foreign investments.

Habeeb Mohamed, Mag Mohamed Meeran Mohiadeen ; Dvořáková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Pichanič, Mikuláš (referee) ; Dohnalová, Marie (referee)
The researcher of this study " Indian Migrants and Self-Initiated Expatriates in the host Countries: the Focus on Social Support" the whole study about the Indian expatriates who are living in the United Kingdom and the main goal of this research is to predict how successful the Indian expatriates in their settling process in the UK and the focus of social supports. The sample includes both Self-initiated expatriates ( SIE's) and Assigned Expatriates(AE's). SIE's expatriates are Indian students who are studying in the UK and the AE's expatriates are the company assigned Indian full-time employees. Social support includes briefly the overall host country support provided for Indian expatriates in the host country. Social support is measured in three broader dimensions pertinent to Waxin cross-cultural adjustment model (2006), likely perceived organizational support, individual self-motivation, and contextual support, includes family support and host country environment. (Navas et al, 2005) classified six relevant contexts of acculturation of expatriates in a foreign country, which emphasize, politics and government, organizational work-related adjustments, economic perspective, family relations; social relations and ideology, which includes religious belief and customs. The structure of the thesis covers extensive theoretical part based on the intense review of literature in the field of expatriation, cross-cultural studies, information on this context about the United Kingdom and India and final part includes practical data analysis, business cases and recommendation for the future research.

Robust Regularized Discriminant Analysis Based on Implicit Weighting
Kalina, Jan ; Hlinka, Jaroslav
In bioinformatics, regularized linear discriminant analysis is commonly used as a tool for supervised classification problems tailormade for high-dimensional data with the number of variables exceeding the number of observations. However, its various available versions are too vulnerable to the presence of outlying measurements in the data. In this paper, we exploit principles of robust statistics to propose new versions of regularized linear discriminant analysis suitable for highdimensional data contaminated by (more or less) severe outliers. The work exploits a regularized version of the minimum weighted covariance determinant estimator, which is one of highly robust estimators of multivariate location and scatter. The performance of the novel classification methods is illustrated on real data sets with a detailed analysis of data from brain activity research.

Analysis of supply of pre-school education with focus on children´s groups in the Czech Republic in 2010 - 2015
Rašpličková, Veronika ; Bartůsková, Lucia (advisor) ; Barák, Vladimír (referee)
As more women work on hire positions, they start realizing the impact of maternity to their career (Höhne, 2010). To satisfy their needs high supply of pre-school education and its variability and flexibility is needed. Act no. 247/2014 Coll. is trying to react to the situation of inadequate supply. The main aim of this work is to compare situation before and after this law and its consequences as far we can evaluate now. Using primary and secondary data thesis will state if there is scale of those services wide enough and if there is additional need to create more places for pre-school education and if there are changes in supply caused by the law. Conclusion is, that creation of childrens group, which were created because of this law, didnt have such a big impact on supply of pre-school education. Moreover, many of them exists only because of funding from EU.

Building credit scoring models using selected statistical methods in R
Jánoš, Andrej ; Bašta, Milan (advisor) ; Pecáková, Iva (referee)
Credit scoring is important and rapidly developing discipline. The aim of this thesis is to describe basic methods used for building and interpretation of the credit scoring models with an example of application of these methods for designing such models using statistical software R. This thesis is organized into five chapters. In chapter one, the term of credit scoring is explained with main examples of its application and motivation for studying this topic. In the next chapters, three in financial practice most often used methods for building credit scoring models are introduced. In chapter two, the most developed one, logistic regression is discussed. The main emphasis is put on the logistic regression model, which is characterized from a mathematical point of view and also various ways to assess the quality of the model are presented. The other two methods presented in this thesis are decision trees and Random forests, these methods are covered by chapters three and four. An important part of this thesis is a detailed application of the described models to a specific data set Default using the R program. The final fifth chapter is a practical demonstration of building credit scoring models, their diagnostics and subsequent evaluation of their applicability in practice using R. The appendices include used R code and also functions developed for testing of the final model and code used through the thesis. The key aspect of the work is to provide enough theoretical knowledge and practical skills for a reader to fully understand the mentioned models and to be able to apply them in practice.

Design of search engine for modern needs
Maršálek, Tomáš ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Strossa, Petr (referee)
In this work I argue that field of text search has focused mostly on long text documents, but there is a growing need for efficient short text search, which has different user expectations. Due to this reduced data set size requirements different algorithmic techniques become more computationally affordable. The focus of this work is on approximate and prefix search and purely text based ranking methods, which are needed due to lower precision of text statistics on short text. A basic prototype search engine has been created using the researched techniques. Its capabilities were demonstrated on example search scenarios and the implementation was compared to two other open source systems representing currently recommended approaches for short text search problem. The results show feasibility of the implemented prototype regarding both user expectations and performance. Several options of future direction of the system are proposed.

Application of Balanced Scorecard
Jandová, Alena ; Neumaierová, Inka (advisor) ; Mikan, Pavel (referee)
The concept of the Balanced Scorecard taking a part in the strategic management of a company, is a main focus of this thesis. There are the theoretical and methodological parts of the Balanced Scorecard characterized individually, as well as the development and the history of this concept. This thesis is dealing with a draft of the practical implementation of the mentioned methods. The practical part of the thesis is following the theoretical introduction where the practical part is focused on a practical application of the Balanced Scorecard method for a specific company. The company is specified by the Corporate Performance and Business Model Canvas by using the PESTEL Analysis, Porter's Five Forces Model and Financial SWOT Analysis. The company strategy is specified based on the previous conclusions. The set strategy is an underlies for a follow-up Balanced Scorecard, where causal links between the intended targets and the strategy are displayed in the Strategic Map. The implementation of the strategy to the everyday use of the company is a part of the thesis, as well.
