French Immigration Policy under Nicolas Sarkozy: from Ministry of the Interior to Ministry of Immigration
Novotná, Ludmila ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Miklošová, Kateřina (referee)
Diploma thesis "French Immigration Policy under Nicolas Sarkozy: from Ministry of the Interior to Ministry of Immigration" deals with French immigration policy during Nicolas Sarkozy's era at the Ministry of the Interior and beginning of his presidency. Sarkozy initiated a selective approach in immigration policy that distinguish whether immigrants belong to "chosen" immigration or "suffered" immigration. Even thought Sarkozy immigration policy can't be called revolution as he tended to do, it's rather evolution regarding the history of French immigration policy, he anyway made a little revolution in the institutional dimension by establishing Ministry of Immigration.

National and racial stereotypes in television commercials : (with the focus on USA)
Peňázová, Eva ; Jungová, Eliška (referee) ; Kraus, Jiří (advisor)
Diploma thesis "National and racial stereotypes in television commercials (with the focus on USA)" deals with the racist tendencies in contemporary American television advertising. The goal is to describe stereotypical presentations of the black people, Hispanics and Asians in commercial work, and to illustrate the presence of these stereotypes on particular television spots. Theoretical part of the text addresses general characteristics of advertising with the focus on the specifics and the influence of television commercials in a relation to national and racial minorities. Moreover, it defines the concept of stereotype, and concerns the impacts of stereotypical images of minorities in advertising and media in general. Thereafter, I dwell on the history of American racist approach towards each of the minorities mentioned above, and the evolution of their media representation from its beginning to the present time. The end of this part is devoted to the specific ways of stereotypical presentation of minorities in contemporary commercial work. Practical part of the thesis describes the method of qualitative textual analysis, which I use to analyze the television spots. Using specific television commercials, I consequently demonstrate the ways in which the forms of stereotypical media presentation of national...

Simulation of nesting of birds
Tóth, Peter ; Knap, Tomáš (referee) ; Brom, Cyril (advisor)
Theory (Storch and Frynta, 1999) suggest that in a process of the evolution some species acquire ability to select better habitats upon presence of habitat features which correlate with expected tness. As far as we know this theory was not yet tested with computational agent-based model. In this thesis we introduce computational agent-based model describing life cycle of autonomous agents in their habitat for studying evolution of habitat selection according to the theory. Results of the simulation show ability of the agents to adopt on differenct habitats by acquision of proper cognitive clues and formation of separate groups of agents within species.

Processing peptidases of M16B family and their evolutionary relationships
Hanušová, Iva ; Stiborová, Marie (advisor) ; Šulc, Miroslav (referee)
The theoretical part of this bachelor thesis deals with the group of processing peptidase of the M16B family. The main focus is on the structure and the evolution of mitochondrial and hydrogenosomal processing peptidase and also the hypothetical peptidase from the bacterium Rickettsia prowazekii. In the practical part of this work, the constructs coding the α-subunit of hydrogenosomal processing peptidase (α-HPP) with the substituted tryptophan residue in the position 236 for phenylalanine and tyrosine were prepared using the site-directed mutagenesis. Subsequently, the new reporter tryptophan residue was introduced in α-HPP in positions 256, 260, 267 or 271 in the so-called glycine-rich loop.

Nesting behaviour and alternative reproductive tactics in solitary bees (Hymenoptera: Apoidea)
Rezková, Kateřina ; Straka, Jakub (advisor) ; Konvička, Martin (referee)
Proposed thesis describes nesting behaviour of gregarious solitary bee species Andrena vaga. The knowledge of behaviour in solitary bees can be very important, because solitarity might represent the initial point in the evolution of eusociality and obligate cleptoparasitism. A population of the studied species was observed continuously for two nesting seasons, which enabled me to describe basic demographic characteristics of studied species such as lenght of bee season, longevity, density of population, number of nests per female life, etc. All the observed behavioural patterns were described in ethogram and their exact position in provisioning cycle was determined. This information helped me to compile average daily activity of studied species. I found out major differences in bee behaviour in both years and between nonparasitized and stylopized (parasitized by Stylops) bees. I proved the existence of intraspecific cleptoparasitism in form of usurpations. Because it is crucial to link female to the provisioned cell for the detection of intraspecific cuckoo-like behaviour, I tested two new methods of underground cell marking - protein marking and fluorescent dye marking. Biological and social factors related to reproduction in the Czech Republic
Kaplanová, Helena ; Rychtaříková, Jitka (advisor) ; Fialová, Ludmila (referee)
The aim is to describe the development of selected demographic characteristics and their comparison in the long term or in selected years characterizing the babies and their mothers in the Czech Republic. The indicators are divided according to what they described to the biological factors, social factors and health factors. The analysis of biological characteristics includes age, frequency, order of birth and mothers parity. Social characteristics examined include marital status and education. Health characteristics in the thesis deal with pregnancy and childbirth, addictive substances use and childlessness. This thesis also describe the evolution of the mentioned characteristics and their combinations for the region NUTS II. in the Czech Republic supported by cluster analysis, which confirmed the regional differentiation. The major finding is that mothers still continuing moving to higher age groups, increasing the proportion of births outside marriage, increasing the representation of women in higher education and increasing the proportion of childbearing by caesarean section. In conclusion, this work also includes a description of the current typical woman, who has a children

Southeast Asia as a new tourist destination
Dvořáková, Lucie ; Petrů, Zdenka (advisor) ; Straková, Ivana (referee)
The bachelor thesis is dealing with the development of tourism industry in South east Asia. Its goal is to asses not only the evolution of individual Southeast Asian countries but also to analyse its place within the world tourism framework. In the Czech literature, much has been published about Southeast Asian economy as a whole, but tourism industry, as a key sector of the economy has been neglected. This thesis therefore defines Southeast Asia as a tourist destination and also analyses its specialities and determines development trends, focusing on the period from the beginning of 1990 up to present. Both domestic and incoming tourism has been analysed, as they are both components of tourism in the destination. The thesis presents "Asian tygers" as newly emerged destinations, where tourism industry growth in the 1990s often exceeded 30% Y-o-Y.

Non-verbal communication in African great apes
Lindaur, Hugo ; Kebza, Vladimír (referee) ; Fraňková, Slávka (advisor)
This thesis presents communication models crucial for creating research conceptions and unified terminology in the area of animal communication studies. The text reviews research types, methods and standards used for primate behavior research. The thesis also presents science disciplines that are concerned in great apes behavior research, its representatives and essential taxonomical, morphological, behavioral and ecological characteristics in African great apes. Text reviews contributions concerning cognitive abilities evolution, with emphasis on evolution of symbolic communication. The text further provides a listing of vocal and gestural communication in African great apes and focuses on facial expressions, its cognitive processing and interpretation. Next. the thesis reviews researches with encultured great apes focused on possibilities of inter-species communication and symbolic communication development.

Computational Aspects of Financial Instruments
Petr, Tomáš ; Myška, Petr (referee) ; Hurt, Jan (advisor)
This work deals with the possibilities of financial derivatives pricing. Explained are especially mathematical approaches used for modelling the development of random variables, which represent the evolution of underlying securities and interest rates. Based on this representation is then derived the pricing of various financial derivatives, mainly options, using the risk-neutral probability measure. Both the analytical pricing methods, especially those extending the Black-Scholes formula for European call and put options pricing, and the numerical and simulation pricing methods for modelling prices and interest rates based on assumptions about their distribution are involved. Mentioned are also ARCH and GARCH models for estimation of interest rates and indices distribution parametres. At the end of the work are these methods compared by application on an example of market data. Compared are various models to price the most usual types of options - analytical pricing (if available), underlying security price simulation by construction of binomial tree model, simulation of particular trajectories by Monte Carlo method.

Image as a New Type of Reality
Aimová, Irena ; Bystřický, Jiří (advisor) ; Petříček, Miroslav (referee)
The text deals with the problem of the image and focuses mainly on evolution of different techniques of depiction and on transforming forms of visual representations. Images have a considerable impact on individuals and society because they can affect our ways of thinking and acting. They can also work as modes and schemes of visual perception and thus constitute our "image" of reality. Particular emphasis is given to contemporary transformation of the nature and function of images, as well as modes of reception related to new advances in communication technologies.
