Comparative analysis of professional English texts
Druhý z nich je vyňatý z knihy ‘Humanoid Robots, Human-like machines‘ a zastupuje odborný styl.

Title: Analysis and comparison of boxing styles of elite amateur boxers from Cuba and Kazakhstan Objectives: The main goal of this thesis was to find out whether the frequency of use of punching techniques and the distance from which these punching techniques are used are statistically significant for the style of two the most successful countries in amateur boxing. The countries were compared in the use and success of the strikes and compared to their preference for long or medium combat distance. Methods: The method of quantitative observation was used, in which data was obtained by watching video recordings. Part of the matches was evaluated by recording the results manually on paper, the other part in the BORIS program. All data was then transcribed into a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, where it was also processed. The source for the data were publicly available video recordings from top competitions in 2010-2020. Results: Differences between countries in the monitored indicators are insignificant and boxing styles do not differ much. In the frequency of the use of striking techniques between the rounds, a significant difference was found only between the first and second round of the Kazakhs. In the case of determining the preference for long and medium distance combat between the rounds, there...

The Inaugural Addresses of the Re-elected US Presidents after the WW2: Stylistic Analysis of Selected Features
Procházková, Alžběta ; Lancová, Klára (advisor) ; Ženíšek, Jakub (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with identification, analysis and assessment of the usage of individual style in the inaugural addresses of the re-elected American presidents after the Second World War. The thesis is anchored in the functional approach to style as described by British linguists Crystal and Davy. The analysis focuses on syntactic, morphological, lexical and semantic levels of the inaugural addresses. From each level the analysis selects several stylistically significant features, which influence the style of writing and thus create an individual style. The selected Presidents' addresses are then compared and stylistic similarities and differences are examined.
Fashion as a Differend
Schambergerová, Lucie ; Fišerová, Michaela (advisor) ; Charvát, Martin (referee)
The work called Fashion as a Differend presents the demands of critics of fashion and shows that they are in decomposition with its definition as defined by J. - F. Lyotard in the context of a postmodern condition. It argues that discourse overriding the demands of fashion critics is asymetrical with discourse within which fashion is defined. It turns out that there is a logical paradox with regard to the essence of fashion, which is transience or rapid change (at least as fast a change in society) and the floating demand for slowing down, stability and other criticisms that are linked to its transformation.
Reading for women in the Lada magazine
Kubínová, Eva ; Mocná, Dagmar (advisor) ; Brožová, Věra (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the profile of fiction published in the magazine Lada on the turn of the nineteenth century into the twentieth. The chosen representative sample of six volumes stretching over the period of twenty years was thoroughly analyzed, focusing on the most important aspects of the individual prosaic contributions, which are the following: the theme, both the main and the supporting characters, the plots, the time and space dimension of the stories, the autor's style, the tuning of proses and their belonging to different artistic movements. Another perspective of interest to this project is the author's background, its changes over time and its influence on the overall orientation and appearance of the magazine, with the overall characteristics of it also included. The deeper, intellectual background reflected in the individual proses is also discussed. Given the fact that the publishing timeline extends over two different historical epochs, this final thesis strives to find answers to the question of to which extent the author's thinking was influenced by the historically social context, i.e. to what degree the authors adopt the modern, progressive ideas of the newly shaping society of the twentieth century, and conversely, to what extent both their opinions and thinking are...
