Public Opinion on Post-War Transfer of Sudeten Germans and Benes Decrees - November 2016
Červenka, Jan
In November survey Public Opinion Research Centre asked respondents some questions concerning decrees of the President Edvard Benes. Currently 43% respondents share the opinion that Benes decrees should continue to be in force, 12% stood up for their cancellation, and 45% had no opinion on this issue. Another question focused on the post-war transfer of Sudeten Germans from Czech borderland in 1945-6. 37% of respondents considered this historical act to be just. On the contrary 38% marked the transfer as unjust (simultaneously majority of them claimed necessity to make a thick line behind the past) and 25 % had no opinion on this.

Capital structure of Czech joint stock companies and its determinants
Poulová, Lucie ; Marek, Petr (advisor) ; Hrdý, Milan (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to perform an analysis of capital structure of joint stock companies based in the Czech Republic. The first part of the thesis introduces modern theories and main determinants of capital structure. Further it stakes out basic models used for testing the validity of mentioned theories and the methodology used. The second part of the thesis focuses on practical results of the analysis. The first chapter summarises descriptive analysis of the passive structure, the level of leverage, the composition of equity and liabilities of the joint stock companies. These ratios are judged mainly according to industry classification and the type of ownership. In the next step, the relationship between leverage and profitability is closely explored since it is thought to be one of the main determinants. In the last chapter, the models are applied to the sample of Czech companies with the effort to judge the validity of capital structure theories and to evaluate the effect of determinants on capital structure.

Experimental and Theoretical Comparative Study of Monolayer and Bulk MoS2 under Compression
del Corro, Elena ; Morales-García, A. ; Peňa-Alvarez, M. ; Kavan, Ladislav ; Kalbáč, Martin ; Frank, Otakar
Recently, a new family of 2D materials with exceptional optoelectronic properties has stormed into the scene of nanotechnology, the transition metal dichalcogenides (e.g., MoS2). In contrast with graphene, which is a zero band gap semiconductor, many of the single layered materials from this family show a direct band-gap in the visible range. This band-gap can be tuned by several factors, including the thickness of the sample; the transition from a direct to indirect semiconductor state takes place in MoS2 when increasing the number of layers from 1 towards the bulk. Applying strain/stress has been revealed as another tool for promoting changes in the electronic structure of these materials; however, only a few experimental works exist for MoS2. In this work we present a comparative study of single layered and bulk MoS2 subjected to direct out-of-plane compression, using high pressure anvil cells and monitoring with non-resonant Raman spectroscopy; accompanying the results with theoretical DFT studies. In the case of monolayer MoS2 we observe transitions from direct to indirect band-gap semiconductor and to semimetal, analogous to the transitions observed under hydrostatic pressure, but promoted at more accessible pressure ranges (similar to 25 times lower pressure). For bulk MoS2, both regimes, hydrostatic and uniaxial, lead to the semimetallization at similar pressure values, around 30 GPa. Our calculations reveal different driving forces for the metallization in bulk and monolayer samples.

Analysis of Cross-border Mergers on the Czech Market in the Period 2018-2015
Plucarová, Iveta ; Žárová, Marcela (advisor) ; Skálová, Jana (referee)
This Master's thesis concerns cross-border mergers on the Czech market. The aim of the thesis is to identify their main trends. Though the theory of both cross-border and domestic mergers is mentioned, the emphasis is placed on the analytical part. The analysis is based on real life data of mergers which were realized from 2008 till 2015 and in which a Czech company took part. The research focuses on the development of quantity and type of cross-border mergers whose project was filed in the public register, quantity of finished mergers, number of participating companies and the country under whose legal system the participating companies operate, the position of Czech companies, ownership structure of participating companies, their legal form, reasons for realization of mergers, exchange ratio, decisive day assessment in relation with the balance sheet date and processing time of a cross-border merger.

Analysis of the impact of low interest rates on banking business in Sweden
Hellová, Tereza ; Dvořák, Petr (advisor) ; Fleischmann, Luboš (referee)
The goal of thesis titled "Analysis of the impact of low interest rates on banking business in Sweden" is to define conditions of bank business and profitability of banks in Sweden. Bank management is monitored mainly in terms of low interest rate policy. Among the indicators observed in the period from 2011 to 2015 include particularly the net interest margin, profitability ratios and loans volume. Risk incurred by banks is also monitored through losses from credit operations and the share of risk-weighted assets to total banking assets.

Selection of the most suitable international market for Logio expansion
Ščuková, Diana ; Král, Petr (advisor) ; Vokáč, Matěj (referee)
The master thesis deals with the possibilities of international expansion in case of the Czech company Logio s.r.o that sells consulting services on B2B market. The main objective is to choose a suitable international market for expansion of the company. Futhermore, market analysis and determination of method of market entering are additional objectives of the thesis. The first part deals with the characteristics of the process, which companies should follow during selection of international market, and various forms of entrance. Then, gained findings are used in process of selecting the most suitable international market for expansion of company Logio s.r.o. Selected market is analysed by using Porter model of 5 forces and PESTEL analysis. The variants of international expansion are specified and compared in the end of the thesis and the most suitable method of market entering is chosen with regard to specifics of the company itself.

Procurement of Transportation Services in Anheuser-Busch InBev
Ivashkevich, Alexandra ; Vinš, Marek (advisor) ; Kolář, Petr (referee)
Nowadays, companies involved in the international trade and production of goods in order to retain customers and increase market share are forced to assure excellence in the performance at all stages of their supply chains. Transportation plays critical role and can be argued to be the most crucial link in the supply chain determining its success or failure. However, regardless of such high importance, this process is very often outsourced as companies do not possess sufficient expertise and resources to deploy this function in-house. Thus, companies have to develop effective strategies and plan their procurement activities accordingly and then manage the outcome. There is not a lot of studies that would take a narrow look at the development of procurement strategy for transportation services in particular. This work is aimed to get the insight and discuss strategic, planning level and post operational evaluation of the procurement of transportation services and explore practical implication on the example of AB InBev through in-depth interviews with company employees. As an outcome this work is aimed to provide an outline of the company performance, value added or negative aspects as a result of application of previously discussed strategies.
