Attitudes of active smokers, patients of outpatient services, after a stroke towards smoking
Horvátová, Tatiana ; Svěcená, Kateřina (advisor) ; Kulhánek, Adam (referee)
Background: "A stroke is a brain disease caused by a sudden vascular supply malfunction" (Růžička, 2019, p. 213) and "nn the Czech Republic, it affects more than 50,000 people every year" (Zámečník et al., 2019, p. 676). Smoking is one of the most common modifiable risk factors of its occurrence. Chemicals in cigarettes are involved in the development of atherosclerosis and other pathologies leading to stroke and heart disease (Kim et al., 2012). Research suggests that even a complex life event, such as a stroke, does not lead to quitting smoking in many patients. This may be related to the low awareness of the population that smoking is a risk factor for stroke despite relatively high awareness of the negative effects of cigarettes in general. The emotional relationship of smokers to smoking is strong and the rationalization of smoking is strong as well. Aim: The aim of the thesis is to find out the attitudes of active smokers after a stroke towards smoking. The thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a research part. The theoretical part focuses on the issue of stroke, risk factors for its occurrence and explains the conative, cognitive, and emotional components of attitudes. In the research part, the attitudes towards smoking of active smokers after a stroke are determined. Methods: Data...

Out of a total of 102 respondents, most would be able to identify general risk factors for...
Fear as a risk factor of seniors falling
JUŘENOVÁ, Renáta
Fear of falling, even without previous experience with falling, can put older people in higher risk due to their reduced activities. In this diploma thesis Fear as a risk factor of seniors falling there were two objectives to achieve. The first objective was to determine the fear of falling for people aged 65 and over, living on their own or in nursing homes. The second objective was to determine the fear of repeated falls on physical and social activities of people aged 65 and over. In order to determine the set objectives both quantitative and qualitative research methods were necessary to use. The quantitative research was carried out in a form of an own questionnaire and FES-I test with 122 responders. The qualitative part was performed by semi-open interview with five participants. The data obtained in qualitative research were subsequently analyzed by open coding, pencil and paper method. A total of five predetermined hypotheses were statistically processed after the end of data collection. After evaluating the hypotheses, it was found that the level of fear of falling depends on age, but not on gender. An interesting outcome was the fact that level of fear of falling is higher in elderly people living in nursing homes than in people living on their own. It is also important to note that previous experience with a fall affects the level of fear, but hospitalization for injuries caused by a fall does not affect the level of fear of a fall. The research question revealed that older people, after the experience of falling, think more about where their next steps will lead when walking. However, there was no reduction in social activity in the sample of elderly people who have a history of falls. This diploma thesis should draw attention to the issue of falls of older people over the age of 65. Older people are often afraid of falling and therefore limit their daily and physical activities, which on the contrary increases the risk of falling. The elderly people need to understand the risks of falling, both internal and external, and be able to determine the danger of the fall. This requires educating them not only by nurses but also by doctors and other health-care oriented staff.

Author: Veronika Hejtmánková Title: Injuries from the chronic overload in climbers and prevention options - literature review Objective: The aim of this thesis is to determine significant so-called biomechanic risk factors for upper extremity injuries from overload in climbers and prevention options to reduce these so-called biomechanic risk factors for upper extremity injuries from overload in climbers. Methods: This thesis is processed in form of literature review. 7 electronic databases (EBSCO, MEDLINE Complete, PEDro, PubMed, Scopus, SPORTDiscus with FullText, Web of Science) were searched using keywords. From primarily searched 1824 titles were chosen using inclusion and exclusion criteria 13 studies. Results: The most frequently addressed significant so-called biomechanic risk factor for upper extremity injury in climbers is the crimp grip. Other significant so-called biomechanic risk factors for upper extremity injury in climbers are isolated grip and dead point technique in two-handed dyno. Prevention options of these so-called biomechanic risk factors are slope grip, parallel grip, warm up with 100 cyclic climbing loads of upper extremities and in vertical jumps jump higher than is required by dead point technique. Keywords: Climbing, risk factor, overload injury, chronic injury, upper...
Quantitative methods in finance
Zboňáková, Lenka ; Hurt, Jan (advisor) ; Zichová, Jitka (referee)
In the present thesis we deal with the quantitative risk measures estimating the influence of market risk on the investments to the financial instruments. The most commonly used measure is Value at Risk which we introduce with its characteristics and modifications. Applying the methods to real data we deal with the problem of approximation of its distribution, especially in the multidimensional cases when the risk factors are dependent on each other. This leads us to explore copula functions that are in the thesis used to include the dependence structures of the risk factors to calculation of the risk measures. Chosen methods of approximation and evaluation of the risk measures are applied to real data and stated with outputs and their comparison.
Faults affecting the success of nursery schools management
Kafková, Jana ; Voda, Jan (advisor) ; Trunda, Jiří (referee)
The thesis concerns itself with the identification of common faults in school management with special focus on nursery schools. It compares the findings from literature with personal experience of selected nursery school headmasters. Its main objectives are to define the areas of high risk potential for mistake genesis and to find appropriate recommendations as to how to approach these faults. General perception of the found risk factors, and ways to approach them was subsequently verified in a survey. Lessons drawn from the faults should be perceived positively as a way to success and development. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. In practical part six interviews with nursery school headmasters were carried out and more than one hundred and twenty statements in the form of a questionnaire were obtained. A summarizing result of both parts of the thesis is a set of advice for beginner headmasters.
