Change of lung perfusion in time after pulmonary embolism
Lvončík, Martin ; Lang, Otto (advisor)
Pulmonary embolism is a serious disease whose diagnosis and therapy is very consuming and must be urgent . Pulmonary embolism occurs closing the pulmonary artery or their branches thrombus which may be generated in situ, rarely , but more frequently occurs in some distant location of the vascular system . This state may be called as thromboembolic disease. Despite ever -improving diagnostic capabilities remain a number of cases of pulmonary embolism undetected . The first and most important step in the diagnostic algorithm for pulmonary embolism even think based on the clinical picture of the patient. The actual pulmonary embolism can occur with different variability and therefore it is necessary to correct after diagnosis without delay appropriate medical treatment . I correctly indicated treatment may have number of side effects , so the therapeutic regimens on the basis of new clinical studies are still being upgraded. Lege Artis procedures are designed in our country and described recommendations in the diagnosis and treatment of pulmonary embolism Czech Society of Cardiology . The last revision was in 2007. The aim of optimizing therapy is to reduce the number of relapses , side effects and complications , prevent fatal consequences of pulmonary embolism , extension of life, quality of life , reduced...

Qualitative investigation of nursing practice for blood donations
NEUMANNOVÁ, Jana
Venous blood sampling poses one of the basic professional skills of a nurse. As in other fields of medical professions, new techniques, standards, instruments and auxiliary instruments are steadily developed here. Their use in practice should facilitate the work of nurses, increase the comfort of patients and, last but not least, increase the costs of health centres and hospitals resulting from repeated samplings and consequently repeated analyses of blood samples. The obtained blood test results facilitate the diagnosis as well as the monitoring process of the individual treatment effectiveness. When taking blood samples, nurses should comply with the current nursing standards ensuring that the result of the given venous blood sampling is correct and non-distorted by an incorrect venepuncture. A violation of the nursing standard may endanger the health safety of both the patient and the nurse. This baccalaureate work monitors the compliance of stipulated nursing standards related to blood sampling. The research was carried out within the surgical ward of the Klatovy Hospital. The monitoring method of disguised participating observation and consequent interviews with monitored nurses was selected. Thus, the research questions could be sufficiently answered. The first question was focussed on the rate of compliance with the principles of correct venous blood sampling. The observations showed that nurses not always proceed in compliance with the appropriate venous blood sampling standards. The second research question dealt with the sampling safety standards both in terms of the patient and the nurse. The research results suggest that nurses are not always fully aware of their own or patient's safety issues. The nurses are not yet sufficiently skilled in the application of protective equipment. The third research question was focussed on the individual preferences of the available sampling techniques. The results of the interviews with nurses suggest that nurses tend to prefer the closed technique. The ward sister of the surgical ward as well as the deputy executive manager for nursing issues of the Klatovy Hospital shall be made acquainted with the results of my research. I plan to propose to hold a seminar in the co-operation with the staff of the clinical biochemistry ward of the Klatovy Hospital.

Characterization of membrane pores formed by newly discovered colicin FY from Yersinia frederiksenii
Dolejšová, Tereza ; Fišer, Radovan (advisor) ; Nunvář, Jaroslav (referee)
Colicins are toxic exocellular proteins used by Gram-negative bacteria for interspecies and intraspecies competition. The colicin FY is a pore-forming protein which was recently discovered at Masaryk university. Kolicin FY is produced by strain Yersinia frederiksenii Y27601 and is active against other strains of genus Yersinia. By comparison of aminoacid sequences of C-terminal domains of selected colicins it was proved, that colicin FY is closely related to colicin Ib (Bosák et al., 2012). In this work I was trying to create brief and integrated summary about the group of colicins from the perspective of an outer membrane traslocation mechanism, overcoming the periplasmic space up to isertion of C-terminal colicin domain into the inner membrane phospholipid bilayer. Other aim of my work was to generally summarize pore properties of known colicins and compare them with recently measured characteristics of colicin FY. Keywords: colicin, Yersinia, planar lipid membranes, membrane pore

Fieldwork in the Jewish community in Prague
Adlerová, Nina ; Řezáčová, Vendula (advisor) ; Paulíček, Miroslav (referee)
This bachelor thesis "Fieldwork in the Jewish community in Prague" is concerned with the social identity of young Czech Jews. The aim of this work is to describe the duality, or hybridity of identity based on the blending of two distinct identities, namely Czech and Jewish identity. There is also an effort to transcribe the self-reflection bearers of these identities in their everyday lives. This work relies on the work of several prominent authors handling with social, or ethnic identity, and also on earlier research conducted by Dana Bittnerová on national and ethnic minorities living in the Czech Republic. The basis of this work is anthropological fieldwork, which focused primarily on members of one particular group, which is part of the Prague community. This group is called Czech Union of Jewish youth. This research was consisted of participant observation organized events or events arising spontaneously and of interviews with selected respondents. It is shown that for all the observed, Jewishness and Czechness are an integral part of their identities, of whom they are. And that these two identities are closely intertwined. Jewish identity is indeed imperative, but to maintain a strong identity is also necessary process of self-identification. The signs of declared identity are also important...

Elizabeth Bishop: Translation as Poetics
Machová, Mariana ; Quinn, Justin (advisor) ; Hilský, Martin (referee) ; Costello, Bonnie (referee)
The dissertation thesis is based on the concept of translation as an aesthetic stance not limited to translating from one language to another, but informing a certain type of original creation. In order to speak about this aesthetic stance which shares some of its features, methods and values with those often found in the work of a translator the term "translation poetics" is proposed. The American poet Elizabeth Bishop (1911-1979) is presented and examined as a representative of this poetic type. A study of her lifetime work as a translator creates a context and background for the formulation of the basic characteristics of Bishop's "translation poetics", and, consequently, for the reading of her poems. The detailed chronological examination of all her translations (from Ancient Greek, French, Portuguese and Spanish) is followed by an outline of the main poetic principles which lie both behind translation and the original creation, and these are exemplified by detailed close-readings of a selection of Bishop's poems. The key features of Bishop's "translation poetics" (the interest meetings and borders; tensions between domination and submission, and between the insider and the outsider position; sensitivity towards the plurality of voices and of perspectives; a stress on dialogue and interaction;...

The contribution to study of student movements in the 1960s in the USA
Hochmuth, Daniel ; Kovář, Martin (advisor) ; Horčička, Václav (referee)
Student movements are without question an integral part of the 1960s. University rebels were so loud and radical that they were impossible to overlook. The sources of their activism were numerous - young generation grown up in an affluence of the post-war western world; the young people inherited moral values of their parents, and, finally, they felt obligated to eliminate evil and inequity in society. It was no easy goal, because American society of the 1950s and 1960s was conservative and resented change; the work inside the Movement was therefore frustrating. Continually confronted with inequity and injustice in the world, as well as with the feelings of failure and alienation in their lives, student radicals became restless and angry. Demonstrations and protests often ended up in violent confrontations with police forces. As the 1960s drew to a close, most of the students' ideals were gone and all that was left was anger and frustration. Movement split into several factions that were no longer able to cooperate; some of them fell apart in little time, some of them turned to even more radical and violent tactics. In spite of that, we can still say that student movements were an important part of the 1960s world and in many ways helped to form the society, which we live in today.

Harmonization of working and family life of contemporary woman
Vojtová, Pavla ; Štěpánek, Zdeněk (referee) ; Šerák, Michal (advisor)
The main aim of this text is to inform the reader about the possibilities of harmonisation of the working and family life of contemporary woman. However, right at the beginning I would like to stress, that although the title contains the word "woman," women are not - even cannot be - the only target group related to the topic of harmonisation of the working and family life. This theme involves every member of the society. In this sense are all people the actors, who create the social reality and thus influence the quality of social life and related possibilities of articulation of the working and family sphere. The topic of harmonisation is closely connected with assertion of the equal opportunities of women and men. This work is primarily dedicated to women, because they meet the problem of compatibility of work and family daily, and it often means difficult task for them. We are talking mainly about the women on maternal leave and following parental leave, who are at that time, and often long before, facing the decision between career and family. But not only them are seeking satisfaction in these two important life fields of modern people. When talking about women, we must talk about men simultaneously. Much attention is therefore paid also to them in this text, because they are integral part of social...
