The new age of the old self - the New Age spirituality in the light of Advaitic teaching
Masojídek, Milan ; Matějů, Martin (referee) ; Czumalo, Vladimír (advisor)
This work deals with a phenomenon of New Age movement and summarizes its fundamental visions. Afterwards these visions are interpreted in context of spiritual teaching and practicing of Advaita Vedanta. This approach enables studying of New Age spirituality from existential point of view and one gains an idea about its position not only in terms of eternal contemporary selfsearching but also more complex in terms of specific situation of modern man and his culture due to culturologic perspective. New Age within the scope of such approach appears as an environment where one can live more spiritually and which can be good base on a journey of deep spiritual understanding due to emphasis on individual selfsearching, freedom, internal responsibility and idea of Unity. However, for this seems to be necessary to step out of limited and comfortable New Age category - if it is comfortable mainly for ego and its needs, valuables and interrelated category of limited individual thinking. It is a level on the journey of understanding which has to be leaved as well as "searching" itself provided that the understanding would be fully realized. Such conclusion challenges deeper culturologic reflection of category or more likely of manifestations or statuses of odd principle of conscious existence and their relation to the...

Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin's The brazen serpent: a contextual analysis
Skrbková, Alžběta ; Wallace, Clare (referee) ; Quinn, Justin (advisor)
Ní Chuilleanáin's collection The Brazen Serpent is fascinating on many levels and deserves a broad readership. However, due to the author's reputation for elusive and impenetrable poetry, the collection has not been as widely appreciated as it could have been had the readers been brave enough to flip and rotate the cover and dedicate to the collection the time and effort which the poems call for. The main dissuasion may seem to be the fact that the collection is deeply inspired by religious imagery and faith. However, in the analysis of the collection, it has been shown that although the poems are connected to the theme of religion, including topics such as nuns, the sacred versus the secular, saints and relics and other similar themes, there are many other layers of meaning which are hidden and have been excavated with the help of critical publications, interviews with the author and systematic close reading of the texts. This analysis of The Brazen Serpent, which incorporated biographical information, the Irish context, the feminine and feminist aspect, history - both personal and religious, aspires to be a useful tool for the better understanding of the rich symbolism contained in the poetry in its many layers of meaning. As was evident in the personal interview which I conducted with Ní Chuilleanáin,...

Immunomodulatory properties of mesenchymal stem cells - use in therapy
Pavlíková, Michaela ; Stříž, Ilja (referee) ; Krulová, Magdaléna (advisor)
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) are extensively studied mainly due to their feasible clinical application. Therapeutic potential of MSC consists not only of the ability to differentiate into mesenchymal cells, ectodermal and endodermal cell lines, but primarily in their immunomodulatory functions. Due to their effect on immune cells, MSC promote the shift of the inflammatory immune response to antiinflammatory. The ability to suppress inflammation, together with their differentiation potential and antiapoptotic potential on the surrounding cells makes MSC a promising tool for treating serious diseases. This work discusses the effect of MSC on the individual cells of the immune system. It focuses on the description of the effect of MSC in four model cases. These are an experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis, myocardial infarction, diabetes mellitus and skin graft transplantation. The knowledge of the mechanisms of the interactions between MSC and the cells of the immune system, together with the understanding the effect of specific conditions on MSC is essential for their use in clinical therapy. Keywords: mesenchymal stem cells, immunomodulation, autoimmune diseases, transplantation

Objective-C programming language and suitability of language inclusion in education
Demčák, Marek ; Pecinovský, Rudolf (advisor) ; Pavlíčková, Jarmila (referee)
This thesis describes a programming language Objective-C, which is the primary programming language for Mac OS X, and assesses the suitability of language inclusion in education. The aim of the first part is to provide the reader with a basic explanation of the language syntax so as to be able to understand what is written for code. After reading this thesis, the reader should have enough information to decide whether he would enjoy programming in Objective-C or not. Thesis does not aim to teach the reader in Objective-C language to create custom applications, mainly due to very limited description of the class libraries (Cocoa, Cocoa Touch), whose knowledge is essential for building real applications. However, this thesis should be a good starting point for all people interested in Objective-C and should refer them to appropriate literature. In the second part, I assess the suitability of language inclusion in education from 10 points of view (criteria). The aim of this part is to provide enough arguments for a decision, whether it is the good idea to provide tuition of Objective-C language or not. Some of the points of view are: basic confrontation of Objective-C with other programming languages (mainly Java and C#), assessing compliance of Objective-C language with the principles of object-oriented programming, review of Xcode IDE, analysis of demand for Objective-C programmers in the Czech Republic and analysis of students' interest in learning Objective-C by online (only students at University of Economics, Prague). The conclusion summarizes the most important properties of the language, its greatest benefits and drawbacks. I have also described the profile of a "typical" programmer in Objective-C, based on evaluated criteria.

Family Planning in the Catholic Church

Family planning in the Catholic Church The objective of this research is to understand the difference in theoretical and practical approach to family planning in Catholic Church. Contemporary family planning doctrine is not acceptable for some couples within the Church. This work contemplates separation aspect of the conjugal and procreative aspect of the marital intimate life. This research suggests a need to establish an acceptable birth control solution for married couples who due to medical or other reasons cannot utilize methods based on natural feminine cycle. Keywords: natural family planning, anticonceptive methods, Catholic Church's doctrine, theology of marriage, control of conception

The automatic image as a translation of life-world
Halák, Jan ; Novotný, Karel (referee) ; Petříček, Miroslav (advisor)
The automatic image as a translation oj life-world The author's aim is to trace down the basic tendencies of phenomenality, introduced into the lifeworld by means of the automatic image, by understending this medium as a translation of the style of appearing of beings. He joins the critique of the modem understanding of being as the presence in the consciousness of subject and discems a parallel between the modem repraesentatio and the photographic image. By criticising the conception od V. Flusser, the paper (meanwhile negatively) disawovs the possibility of eliminating the corporeity and the non-positivity of meaning by means of the photographic image. The paper then analyses the specific space oj the image as this is its medium of revealing. This pictorial space is principally determinned by perspective projection, yet this is what eliminates the corporeity (chair) of both recipient and the world - and due to this the non-positivity of the field of appearence of things. Newertheless the projection preserves the topologic dimension of the space of the image. The autor then focuses on the Merleau-Ponty' s conception of "vertical Being" and attempts to trace down the relation between the topologic arrangement and the chiasma of perceptive perspectives. To deliver the photographic image from its strictly...

Formation of the Security Policy Of Danish Kingdom in the 20.th Century
Sedláková, Barbara ; Fidler, Jiří (advisor) ; Karásek, Tomáš (referee)
This thesis is concerned with Danish foreign and security policy in the 20th century. In the Middle Ages Denmark was a major Scandinavian power but after a series of territorial losses it became a relatively small country. Due to this development, it started to pursue the policy of neutrality as the means of ensuring its security. The policy proved to be a successful strategy until World War I, yet utterly failed during World War II. The War became a turning point in Danish security policy, because Denmark abstained from neutrality from 1945 on and changed the way of enforcing its security and its understanding dramatically. The policy of neutrality was based on the assumption that if Denmark had not been perceived as a threat, it would not have been attacked. However, such perception of security was applicable only during the period of multipolarity. The outcome of World War II led to the shift from polarity to bipolarity, as represented by two superpowers. In the new situation the policy of neutrality couldn't have ensured Denmark's security, considering the geo-strategic position of the country. As a result, Denmark had to choose one side in the superpower rivalry. Thus it chose the United States and entered the organization of collective defence (the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation), established by...

Possibilities of effective fundraising for non-profit organizations
Neradová, Martina ; Varvažovská, Pavla (advisor) ; Tomáš, Tomáš (referee)
The master thesis focuses on effective ways of fundraising for non-profit organizations. Its aim is to design the aforementioned methods, because fundraising has become a critical discipline for non-profit organizations in the pursuit of sustainable funding. Mastering appropriate fundraising methods and establishing relationships with donors, organizations ensure not only peace but also the freedom to make decisions and can fulfill its mission. With an effective attracting funding also related communication outwards With an effective attracting funding also related communication outwards because with no promotion is difficult to obtain an individual or corporate donors. The research is based on a combination of quantitative and qualitative approaches. The quantitative part is based on a survey, which deals with non-profit organizations and their fundraising. Further investigation is focused on the money that is spent on fundraising and the success of fund-raising projects. The qualitative part consists of semi-structured interviews that help to understand the deeper areas detected. From the survey results and interviews is compiled vivid picture of contemporary fundraising in the Czech environment and proposing effective methods of funding. Fundraising is seen as a vital discipline for the sustainability of organizations, but a minimum of them makes it to the professional level. It was also found that the Czech non-profit environment due to their delayed development offers great scope for practicing new fundraising methods, which are commonly used abroad.

Influence of bioeffectors application on phosphorus availability in substrate and on tomato yields
Beranová, Martina ; Kulhánek, Martin (advisor) ; Hanč, Aleš (referee)
In the past few years, the Czech Republic has been trying to increase the input of plant available phosphorus (P) due to the increasing its bioavailability in soil. From the point of view agriculture properties we can say that there is only little amount of readily available P in soil. Plants are unable to take up phosphorus sufficiently, which is mainly due to the fact it is part of various less soluble soil compounds. Therefore, there are new technologies aiming to make P more plant available. One of these technologies are so called Bioeffectors The aim of this bachelor thesis was to increase the plant available phosphorus content in soil due to the bioeffectors application and therefore increasing tomato yield and quality. The bioefectors used contained the following microorganisms: Trichoderma harzianum, strain T22, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens, strain FZB42 (RhizoVital), Pseudomonas sp. (pProradix) and a combination of Trichoderma harzianum with Bacillus subtilis with Zn and Mn added (CombiFector). The plant height, above ground biomass yields, tomato fruit yields and the contents of selected macro and micronutrients in soil (bioavailable form) and tomatoes fruit (total form) were estimated. From the results is clear that: a) in the majority of monitored parameters, significant differences between treatments were not observed; b) Trichoderma treatment, in comparison to the Proradix showed significantly higher Mg content in soil, but only at the significance level 0.05; c) the total content of sulfur in the tomato fruit at the Trichoderma treatment was significantly lower in comparison with the Proradix and Combifector variations, and that at a significance level of 0.01. In conclusion, it is possible to state that the application of bioeffectors, in the majority of cases, did not lead to significant changes of studied parameters. Therefore, it is necessary to look for new strategies that effectively increase the availability of phosphorus contained in soils and applied fertilizers. Therefore, it is possible to suggest further testing of bioeffectors in particular for further research in soils with varied characteristics and deeper microbiological analysis serving to understand the mechanisms of effectiveness and determine the viability of the products.
