Education of Patients with Myocardial Infarction
Frantesová, Lucie Michala ; Vrablík, Michal (referee) ; Pavlíková, Pavla (advisor)
The topic of this thesis is "Education of Patients with Myocardial Infarction". The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part has several chapters in which attention is paid to myocardial infarction, its localization, factors influencing its formation, diagnosis and therapy. Further in the theoretical part I deal with education and the process of education in patients with myocardial infarction. In practical part the chapters describe methodology, hypothesis and the aims of the thesis. Other chapters include graphs and tables depicting the comparison of groups and the results of the research. The results are then analysed further. The aim of this thesis was to find out to which extent the patients take part in an educational programme, and if education influences the change of behaviour. A few hypotheses were set up, e.g. that the patients would choose to be educated; that the educated group would have better results on monitored funs than patients with no education; and that education influences the patients' behaviour. Based on the research, it can be stated, that the hypotheses have not been confirmed. Despite of extensive education of the inspected group during the stay in hospital and during one following year, there was a rise in weight and no significant decline...

Transformation of the Czech foreign development cooperation
Fidlerová, Tereza ; Nováček, Pavel (advisor) ; Kalous, Jaroslav (referee)
Diploma thesis "Transformation of the Czech foreign development cooperation" deals with current change of the system of Czech development cooperation. The original system was too fragmented and ineffective. Responsibility for development projects was divided amongst departmental ministries as well as the budget for development cooperation. The system was complicated and needed to be improved. This thesis notes what made the system ineffective and how and by whom the process of transformation was started. That means it maps what has already been changed and what still has to be changed. In the process of transformation the neglected suggestions given by Development Assistance Committee DAC/OECD, evaluating the Czech development cooperation in 2006 - 2007, are uncovered. Consequently, remarks of Czech experts on development cooperation on what else needs to be paid more attention to are included. In conclusion, all observations and suggestions are summarized and scenarios of the Czech development cooperation are created.

Protein and amino acid metabolism in protein catabolic states - effect of leucine metabolites
Kovařík, Miroslav ; Holeček, Milan (advisor) ; Farghali, Hassan (referee) ; Hlúbik, Pavol (referee)
Protein catabolism and muscle wasting are basic features characterizing the complex metabolic syndrome, called cachexia, which is a severe complication of many diseases, in whose pathogenesis are often participant the systemic inflammatory response and endotoxemia. Branched-chain amino acids (leucine, isoleucine and valine) are not only an important substrate for protein synthesis, but they are also involved in the regulation of protein metabolism, insulin synthesis and secretion, and serve as the source of amino group in the alanine and glutamine formation in the muscle. Not only leucine but also some of its metabolites, - ketoisocaproic acid (KIC) and -hydroxy--methylbutyrate (HMB), have protein anabolic activity and thus some of leucine effects could be induced by these metabolites. In the last years there is paid attention to the HMB, which is used as a supplement for athletes and tested for its potential use in cachexia treatment. The aim of our experiments was to study: 1) endotoxin-induced effect on metabolism of proteins and amino acids in different types of skeletal muscle and the dose dependence of these changes; 2) effects of selected leucine metabolites (KIC and HMB) on the metabolism of proteins and amino acids - in different types of skeletal muscle; under in vivo and in vitro...

Tax revenues of municipalities and the importance of property taxes in selected countries
Vebrová, Lenka ; Láchová, Lenka (advisor) ; Klazar, Stanislav (referee)
Work is focused on tax revenues of local budgets and compare their structures in selected countries: Slovakia, Netherlands, Poland. The greatest attention is paid to the property tax and possibly other income, usually in the form of fees, which are the responsibility of the municipalities and the amount can be determined precisely at the lowest level of management.

Mobilization of intracellular calcium via muscarinic acetylcholine receptors.
Šantrůčková, Eva ; Jakubík, Jan (advisor) ; Krůšek, Jan (referee)
Muscarinic acetylcholine receptors play important role in many physiological and pathophysiological processes. Muscarinic receptors are metabotropic receptors for acetylcholine. The objective of this thesis is to compare long-term effects of short-term exposure of the muscarinic receptors to xanomeline among subtypes. There are two groups of muscarinic receptors that differ in their extracellular-to-intracellular signal transduction - the odd-numbered ones (M1, M3, M5) preferentially couple to Gq/11 G-proteins, whereas even-numbered ones (M2, M4) couple mainly via Gi/o. CHO cells stably expressing individual muscarinic receptor subtypes were used for all experiments. Cells expressing M2 and M4 receptors were transiently transfected with cDNA for human Gq/16 G-protein to achieve calcium response comparable to the one at oddnumbered subtypes. Calcium level was measured with the fluorescent indicator Fura 2. Xanomeline stimulation induced the fast mobilization of the intracellular calcium at all five receptor subtypes. In accordance with the functional selectivity of xanomeline for M1 and M4 receptors, the immediate calcium response to xanomeline was comparable to that of full agonist carbachol and the elevated calcium level sustained for one hour after xanomeline had been removed. On the other hand,...

Tissue and clinical response to prevention of pentasaccharide
Trča, Stanislav ; Krška, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Kittnar, Otomar (referee) ; Kvasnička, Jan (referee)
Administration of coagulation-active substances is one of the options to prevent thromboemboembolic disease (TED), including deep vein thrombosis and systemic response to stress entailed by an injury or a surgical procedure. Lately, a synthetic analogue of the heparin molekule - of its functionally active part - pentasaccharide (PS), has been developed, among others. Potential effects of different pharmacopreventive therapies of the deep vein thrombosis was studied in a group of 146 subjects, who suffered proximal femoral fractures and were operated in the Ist Surgical Clinic,VFN Hospital, during 2001-2006. The patients were randomized into 4 different anticoagulant groups (UFH, LMWH, PS short-term and PS long-term). Thromboembolic symptoms, selected postoperative complications and laboratory findings of selected blood count parameters, coagulation, active phase proteins and adhesion molecules, were monitored. The results indicate existing increased risk of the deep vein thrombosis and a lower rate of the coagulation and fibrinolytic cascade activation, suggesting a higher rate of the hemostatic status stability in the pentasaccharide groups, especially in the groups receiving the long-term pentasaccharide medication (over a month). Therefore, potential pentasaccharide protective effect preventing...

Conduction of interferential currents by human body tissues
Zralíková, Hana ; Pánek, David (referee) ; Malá, Jitka (advisor)
Thesis title: Conduction of interferential currents by human body tissues Work objectives: The aim of this work was to determine the effect of electric stimulation on distant muscle groups and to verify, whether the response of mucles depends on the current frequency. Methods: Master's thesis was worked up on the basis of the pilot experimental study which 6 healthy volunteers from FTVS UK were included in. Interferential currents were applied to their paravertebral muscles in thoracolumbar parts on the frequency of 50 Hz and 100 Hz and 120 - 200 Hz. Electrical activity in distant muscle groups was registrated by surface electromyography. EMG records were analyzed by spectral analysis in MyoResearch XP Master program and evaluated visually. Extended essay is authorized by the FTVS UK ethics committee. Results: It was found that the interferential currents do not spread to distant muscle groups and the current frequency has no affect on their conduction. Research has brought another unexpected result, and that the applied current frequency occur in the tissues in its multiples in a very broad frequency bands. Keywords: electrotherapy, interferential currents, surface electromyography, spectral analysis
