Philantropy in Western culture. French civil society and nonprofit sector

The Valley of the Bees. Analysis of a historical film. The historical film and the making of historical cognizance. Historical film in teaching history
Balík, Ondřej ; Klimeš, Ivan (referee) ; Beneš, Zdeněk (advisor)
I have always considered the enormously powerful and influencial film art to be an interesting topic for various reflections. The obvious difference between written literature, which works with the imagination of a reader, and the illusion-based film, makes us ask what information a viewer gets from a film, and what implications it bears. In order to get an answer to this question, I decided to choose a film and to analyse it. The historical feature film Údolí včel (The Valley oj the Bees) is an outstanding work of art of the famous Czech film director František Vláčil and the screen writer Vladimír K6mer, who made this film in 1967. The story is set in an the thirteenth century. A young son of a Czech thane Ondřej is sent to a monastic knight order. He meets a friend there - Armin von Heide - a hard and a somewhat fanatic knight. Ondřej runs away from the monastery, chased by Armin. At home, he takes care of Vlkov, an estate he inherited from his father. He falls in love with his stepmother and they decide to get married. But on the day oftheir wedding, Armin, who finally found Ondřej, decides to kill Ondřej 's young wife. In his despair, Ondřej lets his dog s kill Armin and then leaves home to retum to the monastery.

This Diploma paper The Position of Russian- speakers minorities in The Baltic states with the accent on the situation in Lithuania concerns about the position and actual problems of Russian- speakers minority in Lithuania and I try to compare it with different situation of Russian-speakers minorities in neighbouring Latvia and Estonia. When The Baltic states proclaimed the independence at the beginning of 1990's, after The collapse of The Soviet Union, only Lithuania decided to grant its citizenship to all applicants. This political decision has helped a lot to decrease a possibility of interethnic conflict. Diploma paper consists of three parts. In the first part you can find introduction to The ethnic minorities question and the theory of ethnicity. The second part is about the history of The Russian-speakers minority in The Baltic states, especially in Lithuania from the medieval ages to the end of The Soviet Union. The third part of my Diploma paper is fully concerning about the situation and actual problems of Russian-speakers minority in Lithuania and I try to compare it with much more complicated situation in Latvia and Estonia thanks to different demographic structure of societies and state national minorities policies. The last chapter describes the influence of The Russian-speakers minority issue...

Czech protectorate press in Reinhard Heydrich era
Renčínová, Pavla ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Kryšpínová, Jitka (referee)
A total power over the Czech official print became an integral part of the Nazis' policy during the Second World War. The print in all occupied countries should have served as one of the most important means by which the Nazis wanted to promote their ideology. Reinhard Heydrich, who came to the Protectorate Bohemia and Moravia in autumn 1941, at first needed Czech people to cooperate for war industry. He was ready doing anything to achieve it. There were some journalists who /for various reasons/ helped him a lot. They did not only administratively execute his instructions but also took part in many fascist agitations. They had close connections with Gestapo and occupation authorities. On regular press conferences they were given instructions how to inform about what 's happening in the protectorate as well as on the battle field. As the result, they were responsible for many people's lives and fates and meant a great danger for whole nation. Besides these loyal quislings there were a number of such journalists who cooperated with the Czech resistance and exile in London. More than a hundred of them were executed or died in concentrate camps. London radio broadcasting showed how little people believed in the official protectorate print. Although the Nazis were quite successful in threatening the Czech...
