Imperium: Nerone - Comparison of the Historical Film and Primary Sources and its Educational Use

The main objectives of this diploma thesis are to describe and analyze character of the Roman Emperor Nero, the last member of Iulo-Claudian dynasty, in the historical film, which was made as a part of a series about Roman history. The first part deals with history of the Roman Empire since Gaius Octavius`s arrival to Rome in 44 BC till death of the Emperor Claudius in 55 AD. The second part gives a description of the character Emperor Nero of the Roman Empire. It is believed that it was he who had the whole city of Rome burnt. Other parts of this thesis show analysis of the film Nero, císař římský. Imperium: Nerone (TV film) 2004. It is a comparison of his character from literary to theatrical sources. The last part describes a didactic use of the film. There is a presentation of a model lesson that was created and taught in practice by the author herself. Map skills' development in history, mathematics and biology

The presented bachelor thesis deals with map skills' development in history, mathematics and biology at lower and upper secondary schools. Map skills tend to be seen as part of geographic skills so the issue related to their development in other subjects isn't researched enough. The first part of this thesis concerns with the use of map skills in everyday life, and summarizes evidence of their importance in various subjects. Based on the research focused on chosen subjects (history, mathematics, biology) are subsequently suggested particular possibilities of map skills' development. The aim of the practical part of this work that examines the development of map skills in terms of intended and implemented curriculum is to evaluate their status in education at Czech schools and also to reflect theoretically oriented chapters. As researched methods the analysis of textbooks and the questionnaire survey are used. Conceptual Integrated Approach to Teaching about Cold War at the Upper-secondary School

The thesis titled A Conceptual Integrated Approach to Teaching about the Cold War at the Upper-secondary School presents the topic of the Cold War as a subject matter for an educational project implemented into History lessons at a selected Prague upper-secondary school. The thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part is a summary of the information available in scholarly literature. It contains a detailed presentation of integrated thematic teaching which is based on understanding of the human brain operation (brain- compatible teaching). Furthermore, theoretical starting point is introduced as well as the method used to present the topic. The practical part explores how background material was collected (description of situation, problem, conditions, and development of project). It also presents the analysis and interpreting of background material. Next, the results of the project are stated, together with its problems and imperfections. The practical part is supplemented with the application of the project. It outlines other ways integrated thematic teaching can be used in education.

Thesis analyse school education programmes: Gymnázium Nymburk, Gymnázium Na Pražačce and Arcibiskupské gymnázium in relation to issues relating to religious studies. The practical part, carried out using a questionnaire survey focuses on students opinions on religion education and its benefits. Benefits from studying religion can be expressed in the way how students understand subject matter, attitude towards new religious movements and concept of evil.
Stalinist Period in Czechoslovakia - Its Interpretation and Teaching in Secondary Education

1950s may be classified as one of the worst periods in Czechoslovakia's history. The totalitarian communist regime in the period between 1948 and 1953 is called the Stalinism. The primary objective hereof was to evaluate teaching about the Stalinism period in Czechoslovakia in secondary schools, in particular, to assess the scope of correctness and completeness of the related curriculum and teaching methods. The secondary objective hereof was to introduce and describe the Stalinism as a typical example of totalitarianism and to define crucial elements of this non-democratic form of government using the example of Czechoslovakia from 1948 to 1953. The thesis proceeds from the theoretical part via a case study to the practical part. The first part classifies totalitarianism, defines its historical outset and determines its main features. The second chapter describes and explains the Stalinism, which is a typical example of totalitarianism having functioned in practice in the Soviet Union from where it spread to the majority of the Communist countries, including Czechoslovakia. The third chapter explains the practical application of the Stalinism elements and methods used to control a society according to the Soviet model using the example of Czechoslovakia from 1948 to 1953. Characteristic of Czech great people in play "České nebe"

Considering the fact that this bachelor thesis concerns one of the plays of the Jára Cimrman Theatre wchich is based on the mystification, several theoretical information about the mystification is situated at the beginning of the thesis. The core of this thesis deals with the characters that appear in the 15th Jara Cimrman Theatre play - České nebe. The persons are important Czech personalities who are for various reasons admitted to the heavenly commission to decide about the faith of the Czech nation. They are: Jan Amos Komenský, Svatý Václav, forefather Čech, Jan Hus, Karel Havlíček Borovský, grandmother of Božena Němcová, marshall Radecký and Miroslav Tyrš (The last named are not in the heavenly commission. They enter there as guests). Each character is characterized from the perspective of the authors. This view is compared with the characteristics of the characters in the historical didactical guidbooks, in some cases the characteristic of the guidebook is applied to the play. At the end, the real characters from another Jára Cimrman Theatre plays (Blaník, Záskok, Afrika) are more generally characterized. Translation © sl. Kateřina Vokáčová
Web application for learning history

The aim of this bachelor thesis is implementation of the web application's functional concept, which should be adequate learning tool for students, who study History. This application should be implemented in consideration of the possibility of its future extension. To achive the aim of this thesis in theoretic part of work is firstly presented an analysis of History as an school subject, its contemporary form and function. Afterwards an analysis of already existing web applications for learning History is made. Practical part of the thesis is dedicated to author's concept of web application. At first the concept of application is described. Consequently the work concentrates on the technologies used during the development of application. These technologies are mainly framework Ruby on Rails for the application's server part, framework Angularjs for the application's client part and format JSON, that is used for communication between two parts mentioned above. After that the use of these technologies during the creation of the application is documented. At the end the work contains a simple user guide, which shows to the users how to use this application. The main contribution of this bachelor thesis is the creation of the learning tool for students.
The concept of prehistory in grammar school history textbooks

The bachelor thesis extends by its assignment in two disciplines pedagogy and archaeology. Its character is theoretical-empirical. Theoretical part of the work deals with the objectives and content of history teaching in the frame of current educational conception. Emphasis is placed on prehistory teaching on 4-year and higher degree of multiyear grammar schools. Using pilotage questionnaire three most used textbooks were revealed and afterwards analysed in the empirical part. The evaluation focused on structural components extent, text difficulty and didactical quality of the textbooks. Qualitative analysis examines text content to find out if textbooks used for prehistory teaching accepts the current state of knowledge and possibilities of current archaeology. The last part of the thesis represents questionnaire focused on teachers and to lesser extent also pupils. Questions are aimed at a method of treatment with textbook during lesson, preparing for lesson and awareness of archaeological popularization programmes.
The Use of Regional History of Vltavotynsko in History Lessons. Workbook with Regional Historical Topics

The diploma thesis The Use of Regional History of Vltavotynsko in History Lessons. Workbook with Regional Historical Topics is a contribution to the methodology of history lessons. It defends the importance of regional and environmental education as well as education for relationship to cultural-historical heritage in lessons of history, especially at upper primary schools. The mentioned aspects of history education are observed in particular chosen educational documents, which determined the form of education in the 1990s and then also the final product of this reform - the Framework Educational Programmefor primary education. The main output of the thesis is a textbook about the regional history of Vltavotynsko called People from the River, which reflects the learned knowledge. The textbook does not only contain exercises typical for a workbook, but it also includes other texts and visual materials which present the basic historical development in the micro-region to pupils in an attractive way and they are a valuable contribution to pupil's environmental education, too.
Lost cultural landscape of the Czech border, an interactive learning guide for 2nd Primary School

Title of thesis is: ,,Vanished cultural landscape of the Czech border - an interactive learning guide for the 2nd grade school". Graduation thesis consists of an analysis of literature (textbooks geography, citizenship and education history, professional, nonfiction literature, didactic literature and multimedia documents). The practical part has a form of an interactive learning guide. Most of the work is devoted to the issue of the Sudetenland which to the largest extent represents the vanished cultural landscape of the Czech border. Sudetenland are evaluated from several different perspectives. An integral part of a thorough and detailed geographic mapping will clarify the historical circumstances but also the consequences that come with intricate development of the Czech border to bring ,,our" society today. The main section has its own interactive learning guide for students of upper primary school. In our case it will serve as the superstructure teaching material and therefore it can be used for grammar schools as well.
