Comparative analysis of communication of the brands Louis Vuitton and Estée Lauder across selected periodicals in 2013

This diploma thesis Comparative analysis of communication of the brands Louis Vuitton and Estée Lauder across selected periodicals in 2013 deals with the forms of communication the selected luxury brands on the platform of magazines use for addressing their existing and also potential customers. The theoretical part defines luxury and luxury brands Louis Vuitton and Estée Lauder and media, namely printed magazines Elle and Marianne, which together constitute the necessary basis for the subsequent research. Methodological part looks at the key persuasive, semiotic and pragmatic approaches, which, using verbal and non-verbal communication elements, participate in the construction of the examined texts, and submits related basic concepts, which are then used in the analytical part. Here, first, is realized a detailed description and analysis of the selected types of communication followed by the comparison and final evaluation of the findings obtained. Comparison in that is made not only within the individual magazines, respectively types of utterances placed in them, but also in connection with the specifics of the selected luxury brands. The Czech Catholic Exile in Rome in its Attitude Toward Marxism and Communism

This thesis is dealing with the ways in which were reflected marxism and communism in the czech exile catholic magazine "Studie", that had been published in Rome in the period 1958-1990. In addition outlines the issues of the czechoslovak exile in the second half of the twenties century. This thesis also discusses the exile waves that occurred in 1948 and 1968. Finnish media landscape - print media

Bachelor's thesis aims to describe the structure of contemporary print media in the Republic of Finland and the way they function. It focuses namely on the periodically issued print, i.e. newspapers and magazines. The introduction part contains a brief outline of historical background of the Finnish media system and thereby delineates the rise and development of print but also of other media in this country. Next the thesis describes the main characteristics of the said system relating it with economical, social and political bases. Third part of the text covers more specifically some of the present- day titles and their position within the Finnish print market. Internet and its influence on print media in Finland are dealt with in the final part of the work, which also in this context attempts to describe a possible future outlook of the Finnish press. The purpose of this thesis is to present a comprehensive summary of the Finnish print media and of their place within the Finnish media landscape.
Culinary trend and Czech magazines dedicated to gastronomy in the years 2004-2012

Diploma thesis Fenomén labužnictví a časopisy věnující se gastronomii na území České republiky v letech 2004-2012 is devoted to the questions of publishing gastronomical magazines in Czech republic in the years 2004-2012 and describes the culinary trend which is frequent issue of the Czech media discourse in the year 2012. The first parts of the thesis deal with the sociological perspectives on food, its role within society is explained as well as its ability to produce the meanings and symbols and to express social differentition. The attitude of Czech population towards food and lifestyle is characterized. The following chapter focuses on the culinary trend in various kinds of masmedia content, it reveals the context of the trend, its impact and the way it is represented in Czech republic. The last two chapters of the thesis deal with the gastronomical magazines, which are divided into two main categories according to their content. The current situation on the Czech market with magazines is explained. The final chapter focuses on selected gastronomical magazines F.O.O.D. Apetit and Gurmet which are analyzed from the point of their sections arrangment, graphic design, advertisement and language. Short semiotic analysis of selected articles is presented.
Rural section of Bohemia newspaper

The diploma thesis "Rural section of the Bohemia newspapers in 1856 - 1876" analyses the thematic content and news frequency from the countryside and places that the German written newspapers Bohemia published during the introduced period. In the beginning the thesis describes the historical, cultural and political connection in the Czech countries, it focuses mainly on Czech-German relationship and national problems that grew after the year 1848. It introduces the media area of this period as well. The main titles and newspapers distributed in Prague and German places have been mentioned there. Bohemia played the main role in integration of German population especially till 50s. Consecutively, it grows the number of other titles and periodical, so Bohemia loses its strong position. Development of the Czech mobile communications magazines market

The bachelor work deals with magazines on mobile communications that were published in the Czech Republic between 1996-2011. This bachelor work focuses on 8 unique titles published during that period. The first part is devoted to the development of the telecommunication market as well as the mobile phone market. One of the important parts involves a description of the published titles. The magazine called Mobility was the longest-published magazine on mobile communication and therefore, it is discussed in more details and in addition quantitative content analysis is also provided in this study. Other titles are briefly introduced. For all magazines the additional information such as year of publishing, publisher's name and sample of cover page is provided. The development of the market for mobile communication is described in three time periods. These periods are as follows: from 1996 to 2003 when only two titles were published, from 2004 to 2008 when all monitored titles were published, from 2008 to 2011 when only magazine Mobility was published. The final section deals with the development of printed and online media and compares the readership and audience size of these two platforms. The bachelor thesis titled "Development of Printed Media in Italy in the Years 1943-1950" is an analysis of the historical conditions of media publishing in Italy after the defeat of fascism. It is an attempt to reconstruct the main events that took place in printed media, particularly newspaper, in the period after the fall of fascism and the end of the Second World War. The thesis maps the relationship between the media and political and economic power. It discusses the system of printed media and who and under what conditions could work as a journalist at that time. There is also a description of the methods used for the organisation of journalists. The thesis starts with a brief historical overview of the social situation in the era of the beginning, rise and fall of the totalitarian regime. After the defeat of fascism and Nazism, Italy was facing the difficult task of dealing with its own past and establishing new rules. The attempt to cleanse the society and media (known as the "purification of journalism") was a long and complicated process. The thesis aims to determine what topics were the journalists focusing on and what was the basis of their discussions. Presentation of chosen tv series from period of normalization in magazines czechoslovak television and television

This thesis examines how two magazines from normalization era (Czechoslovak television and Television) wrote about three chosen TV Series (The Thirty Adventures of Major Zeman, Good Water and Gottwald) when they were launched on the screen. Not only noticing topical and genre range of the texts, thesis also judges degree of propaganda in unusual journalistic environment (state press writes about state television). Thesis notes viewers'opinions apart from official texts. They were also published on magazines. Last but not least, thesis compares media environment of those days with temporary one. It notes details from normalization that are not supposed to work today. Theoretical and historical view on Czechoslovak television's operation during normalization goes before concrete research. A lot of media literature is used. Thesis confronts opinions of censored press in normalization with more objective state. This is applied both on evaluations or describing of series and on writing about real historical events. Therefore, two series that describes historiy from communist point of view were chosen - The Thirty Adventures of Major Zeman and Gottwald.

Title: Magazines for preschool children during the period 1990 - 2000 Author: Kateřina Veitová Supervisor: Mgr. Radim Wolák The thesis deals with analysis of market with magazines for preschool children between years 1990 and 2000. The first part describes the transformation of media environment and conditions for issuing periodicals. Also monitors all the titles that were issued during the period, and notes the impact that the publishing business conditions changes had on them. In the second part, the thesis focuses on the development of selected titles in terms of external and internal characters in the specified period and compares these titles with each other. For the purpose of the analysis were selected titles: Bobik, Medvídek Pú, Méďa Pusík, Mickey Mouse, Kačer Donald and Sluníčko, there were analyzed every two copies of each year in the period from 1990 to 2000 when the magazines were published. To achieve our goals, the qualitative research methods and study of relevant literature were used. The thesis also includes a chapter devoted to the profile of preschool age, for better orientation in the subject.
