Proximity of schools to sources of air pollution: Estimation of health risk by GIS methods
Strejčková, Denisa ; Braniš, Martin (advisor) ; Kupková, Lucie (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the estimation of potential health risks at schools exposed to traffic-related air aollutants. It is based on the method of a geographic information system (GIS). Road traffic is a source of suspended particles, whose long-term exposure has an effect on the growth of the lower respiratory tract disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, reduction of lung function and cardiovascular disease, especially in the large urban agglomerations. Besides the long and seriously ill and the elderly, children belongs to the particularly vulnerable group of population. Children used to spend a great deal of time at schools. Many scientific studies have found associacions between proximity to traffic and increased risk of respiratory disease and a slower development of lung function among children attending schools close to busy roads. One of the aims of this study is to locate elementary schools in the region of Prague by GIS techniques and examine, whether the aquality of air in the place where schools stands to is influenced by the traffic air pollution. Although the estimation of the potential health risk is based on indirect methods of GIS, it is possible, that high concentrations of pollutants could infiltrate into the most exposed schools and cause adverse health effects,...

VAT issues in respect to municipalities
TYEMNYÁKOVÁ, Jana
The primary objective of this thesis is to assess the impacts of VAT on municipal economy, to determine when it is advisable for a municipality to become a VAT payer and how the VAT payership affects the municipality{\crq}s income, and what the associated rights and obligations are. Based on an analysis, we review Municipality ``X{\crqq} that registered for VAT voluntarily on July 1, 2004 and Municipality ``Y{\crqq} that only became a VAT payer beginning January 1, 2009. According to the information revealed, the VAT registration associated financial benefits for Municipality X were closely connected with its financial investments made with the assistance of received subsidies and capital investments into property. Compared to Municipality X, the implications are that Municipality Y would have not benefited from becoming a voluntary VAT payer. The anticipated financial effect would have been neutral. At present, we can state that the greatest financial benefits for municipalities under the VAT scheme arise from investments into the renovation, repairing work or construction of water-supply and public sewer systems provided that the municipality operates or lets it on lease to another VAT payer.

Rážová, Anna ; Van Bree, Cor (referee) ; Janssens, Guy (advisor)
The theme of this end term paper is the Dutch dialects and the use of the Limburgian dialect. The goal of this paper is to describe in theory the phenomenon 'dialect' and to understand this phenomenon better with the help of 'Research in the use of the Limburgian dialect'. The central question is connected with psychological and sociological perspectives of the dialect problem: why do people speak so much in dialect in The Netherlands and foremost in Limburg? How do Limburgians experience their language? Which advantages come with the use of dialect and does the speaker feel more closely connected with each other while using this dialect? Are higher educated people as inclined to use dialect as much as lower educated people? And in which situations do Limburgers prefer to speak dialect and when do they prefer to switch to the standard Dutch? Do women and men speak different? In the first part of the paper, the phenomenon of dialect will be lined out in general terms. The term 'dialect' will be defined and an explanation will follow how dialects differ from standard Dutch. There's also a focus on the science aspect of dialects and a focus on the dialect users themselves. Because dialect is often seen as negative, there will be a focus on the negative and the positive attitudes towards dialects. The dialect...

Contermporary Dutch drama
Zbuzková, Andrea ; Krol, Ellen Jacoba (advisor) ; Sedláčková, Lucie (referee)
The aim of my thesis is to approach the specifics of current Dutch drama. First part of my paper is based on the theoretical work of Hans-Thies Lehmann, Hugo Brems and Anja Krans describing the development of drama in Netherland covering the year 1969 to the turn of the millennium. Moreover, I am focusing on the major events, trends and characteristics following this period as well as explaining the term "post-dramatic theatre ", which I closely characterize. I've been following the change of the cooperation between dramatists and theatre groups regarding contemporary drama. In the second, practical part of my work I investigate whether or not the thoughts of the above mentioned theatre scientists and theorists are valid (and if so to what extend). I have examined this on a few pieces of work of four selected Dutch dramatists (Esther Gerritsen, Rob de Graaf, Maria Goos, Gerardjan Rijnders). I shortly describe the content and identify the most significant ideas of their work. I use information obtained from studying the theoretical work, newspaper articles, reviews, interviews with the artists and even their dramas. In the conclusion of my thesis, I then gather all the knowledge obtained by readings and analysis in the practical part. Moreover, I am describing the position of the Dutch dramatists in...
