Canadian university libraries and their information services

Bakalářská práce analyzuje a hodnotí současnou situaci kanadských univerzitních knihoven, se zvláštním zaměřením na jejich informační služby. V úvodní části je popsán historický vývoj kanadských univerzitních knihoven a jejich současná situace je zasazena do společenského kontextu. Další část se věnuje spolupráci kanadských univerzitních knihoven v rámci významné celonárodní Kanadské asociace vědeckých knihoven a v rámci silných regionálních asociací. Uvedeny jsou konkrétní příklady spolupráce. Jádrem práce je analýza a popis čtyř vybraných univerzitních knihoven: Knihovny Britskokolumbijské univerzity (University of British Columbia Library, http://www.library.ubc.ca/), Knihovny Univerzity Simona Frasera (Simon Fraser University Library, http://www.lib.sfu.ca/), Knihovny McGillovy univerzity (McGill University Library, http://www.mcgill.ca/library/) a Knihovny Albertské univerzity (University of Alberta. Library, http://www.library.ualberta.ca/). V závěru jsou shrnuty poznatky získané analýzou vybraných knihoven a situace kanadských univerzitních knihoven je stručně srovnána se situací v ČR.

What is the difference in student knowledge of nutrition at different types of universities?

This diploma thesis consists of a theoretical and analytical part. The first part introduces basic knowledge about healthy nutrition, the constitution of nourishment and nutritional recommendations for citizens of the Czech Republic. It also describes a required level of knowledge about nutrition that all high school students should have. The analytical part is based on research that examined the knowledge of 298 university students and high school seniors. The students were from four different universities and one high school. This set of students was examined by a test that consisted of 30 questions. Students answered another four questions about their weight, height, gender and subjective valuations of their knowledge. The answers to these questions were evaluated manually and processed in programs such as MS Excel, MS Word and Epitable. The diploma thesis examines the knowledge of students based on their school, gender and daily life experience. It also shows students' Body Mass Indexes and differences in their subjective valuations of knowledge based on the students' schools. Results are presented in well-arranged tables in Chapter Discussion. The research showed that the best knowledge is to be found among students from Third Faculty of Medicine. Teacher preparation updating for teaching in the IT society of the 21 century

The work deals with the innovation of the students of second-stage primary school teaching preparation in the field of ICT implementation into the didactic students preparation. It features the information science basic output of the society in the early 21 century, the issue of computer and IT literacy, the media education and evaluates the importance of school libraries and IT centres. Furthermore the work interprets the basic curicular documents such as IT education output and focuses on updating trends in the students of teaching preparation and on teachers' further training in the field of ICT in education. Through the questionnaire search among the students of University in Hradec Kralove, Faculty of Education, the insufficient students preparation to use the new IT technology didactic application into education as a vital didactic teachers' skill today was found out.

Third part focuses on education to celebration through symbols, words and acts. Describes meaning of celebrations, symbolic understanding of liturgy celebration and Christian feasts. Hlavným bodom je vytvorenie metodológie vhodnej k analýze a porovnaniu stránok vybraných univerzít. Tie prejdú detailným rozborom, na jeho základe budú bodovo ohodnotené.

The Comparison of Websites of Selected Worldwide Cties

The main goal of this thesis is to create a methodology for comparison of web pages of worldwide cities and to apply it on the selected websites. Introductory theoretical part describes the history and the present of web pages and shows their categorization, technologies, key statistics and reasons of rising significance of city websites with emphasis on e-Government. The official web pages of London, New York and Sydney are compared. These are modern world-known cities comparable in population, used languages and the overall attractiveness. Methodology of comparison tries to be objective, universal and reusable. It evaluates the websites with a set of criteria divided into 4 domains: graphical design, usability, accessibility and information content. In the end the final ratings are determined as weighted averages of criteria and domains.

The Poets Charles Cros, Tristan Corbière and Jules Laforgue in the Rendition of Vladimír Holan

The work is concerned with the French artists of the cursed poets Charles Cros, Tristan Corbière and Jules Laforgue in rendition of the Czech poet and translator Vladimír Holan. The first part is dedicated to an age-long tradition of the Czech- French relations. In the second part the work deals with a literary-theoretical background of the Czech and French poetry and with the point of view of a literary criticism to the studied poets of the symbolism and the decadence and to Holan. The third part analyses the poetic universe and a concrete version of original poems. Their translation by Vladimír Holan the work examines then. Concurrently, the work judges the common constituents of the production of the chosen French poets and of Vladimír Holan. Afterwards, it assesses a doing of the translator in transposing the French poems to the Czech language environment.
