Chalcones and their analogues as potential drugs.
Chlupáčová, Marta ; Hartl, Jiří (advisor) ; Kuneš, Jiří (referee) ; Čižmárik, Jozef (referee)
1 SUMMARY This dissertation thesis deals with searching for potential drugs, particularly with preparation and biological activity study of natural compounds derivatives - chalcones. The work includes preparation of intermediates - 5-alkylated pyrazin-2-carbonitriles and 1-pyrazinyl-2-ethanones. Substituted chalcones, several series of pyrazine analogues of chalcones and Michael adducts of chalcones with different thiols were prepared as final products. In this part of the work, known reaction methodologies were used. Products were identified by melting point, resp. boiling point, IR, NMR spectra. Their purity was checked by elemental analysis. In the case of liquids, elemental analysis could not be performed, and MS spectra were recorded instead. In total were prepared  22 intermediates (9 of them have been described in our department)  62 final products (19 of them have been already described)  1 by-product 57 Unknown compounds were prepared. Synthesis of 12 compounds was not successful. The final products were tested for their antimycobacterial, antifungal, antialgal, and antiaggregating effects. The chalcones were examined for the ability to inhibit one of the cysteine protease - papain and this part of the work continued in a preliminary kinetic study of reaction addition of chalcones with thiol-...

The bachelor's thesis "Morbus Scheuermann in children" deals with the overall issue of Scheuermann's kyphosis. The thesis summarizes findings about the clinical picture, etiology, diagnostics, stages of the disease, and points to a crucial influence of kinetic activity as an integral part of the treatment. A significant part of the thesis is focused on an overview of therapeutic methods and approaches which are most frequently used to influence the disease. In the conclusion of the thesis, there is a brief characterization of corset therapy, surgical treatment and a summary of the most frequent complications of the disease. The thesis is supplemented with a casuistry of a patient with m. Scheuermann, accompanied by a short term and a long term rehabilitation plan.

Development of water law in Czech lands before 1914
Urban, Michael ; Kindl, Vladimír (advisor) ; Soukup, Ladislav (referee)
The purpose of this thesis was to capture the development of legal regulation of the Czech water law and of water-law relationships, and to point out that miller's law, fisheries law and navigation law are naturally related to the water law. Water transport and handling were not regulated in any manner in the most ancient times. The Czech water law was built on the heritage of the Roman legal culture. From the end of the 10th century, the first mentions of water-law relationships can be found, particularly in monarch's charters. The first important legal regulations related to water included the Mining Code (Ius Regale Montanorum) by king Wenceslas II of 1300-1305 and the Code Maiestas Carolina by king Charles IV, which was not implemented in practice, though. The so called lawbooks are another significant resource for understanding legal regulations related to water. Elements of a complex legal regulation with statewide legal force started to be applied from the end of the 15th and in the course of the 16th century - a number of municipal establishments and the code of municipal law created by Pavel Kristián of Koldín. A considerable boom of legal regulations with respect to all aspects of water-law relationships was seen during the reign of Maria Theresia and Joseph II (the navigation patent,...

The causes of the civil war in Côte d'Ivoire
I přesto byly africké masy vtaženy do politického procesu. V padesátých letech docházelo k rozšiřování práv afrického obyvatelstva včetně práva volebního, a analogicky s tím také rostla politická aktivita nově vzniklých afrických politických stran. Koncem této dekády již bylo zřejmé, že otázka není, zda africké kolonie...

Patients'Recruitment Issues in Clinical Trials
Hrubá, Dagmar ; Doskočil, Ondřej (advisor) ; Štegmannová, Ingrid (referee)
This thesis examines patient recruitment in clinical trials. It is a current and pressing issue, which is not sufficiently embedded in the thinking of doctors and patients, their patterns of communication, and more broadly in the traditional doctor-patient relationship, which continues to be burdened by post-socialist paternalism. The formal framework and ethics have been developed relatively recently, and their application causes confusion to all participants regarding how to proceed in specific situations. In addition, the choice of topic, and especially the form of dealing with the topic, was motivated by the relative lack of academic resources and publications in the field. The theoretical section of the thesis defines clinical research and its phases, and introduces basic terminology and documents closely linked to clinical research. In addition, it focuses on research ethics, thoroughly examining the issue of informed consent - a fundamental document necessary for recruiting a patient in a clinical trial. Finally, one chapter of the thesis focuses on the issue of medical literacy, the level of which is integral to the participants' understanding of the importance of clinical research, and directly affects participants' decision-making. The empirical section is divided into two parts. The...

Crisis of the Swedish welfare state and its reforms in the 90s of the 20th century
Hes, Lukáš ; Vostrovská, Zdenka (advisor) ; Czesaný, Slavoj (referee)
This master thesis explores what were the causes of falling behind of the Swedish economy during the 70s and 80s of the 20th century. In addition, it deals with the reforms that Sweden has implemented during 90's. Theoretical input is engaged in development of economy and society and focuses on the period of the 30s, which was crucial for further development and in which laid the foundation for later growth. In the analytical part are explored the causes of the economic slowdown. This led to the gradual decline of economic level and a slump in international rankings. Analysis of the reforms carried out during the 90s of the 20th century provides guidance for all countries which want to optimize the allocation of resources in the economy and are trying to accelerate economic growth.

Zobecnění objektově orientovaného paradigmatu zavedením morfologie objektů
Šlajchrt, Zbyněk ; Pecinovský, Rudolf (advisor) ; Merunka, Vojtěch (referee) ; Virius, Miroslav (referee)
Modeling protean objects, i.e. objects adapting their structure and behavior dynamically with respect to a changeable environment, is often challenging in traditional object-oriented languages. According to the author, the root cause of this problem lies in the class-based conceptual framework embedded in the foundation of the object-oriented para-digm. The proposed paradigm Object Morphology (OM) is greatly influenced by prototype theory developed in the field of cognitive psychology. OM abandons the notion of class and suggests, instead, that the abstractions of protean objects should be established through the construction of morph models describing the possible forms of those objects. This the-sis defines the theoretical foundations of OM, which is further used to specify the elements of prototypical object-oriented analysis. An important part of this work is also a proof-of-concept implementation of an OM framework in Scala.

Statistical analysis of resocialization care after prison release
Dlouhá, Šárka ; Hlavsa, Tomáš (advisor) ; Michal, Michal (referee)
The level of crime has to be regulated in order to prevent the crime to cause major damage to society. Therefore it is profitable to address criminal recidivism as well. Recidivism is caused by a complicated process of reintegration of people with criminal records back to society. The main goal of this thesis was to find the main factors affecting reintegration process of people after incarceration. The thesis is trying to reach the results by quantitative research, specifically examining the frequencies and dependence of categorical variables. The main factors which influence the reintegration process of people with criminal past are unemployment and indebtedness. These elements are affected by certain demographic factors. These factors also influence the type of criminal activity and the probability of criminal recidivism.
