Plíhalová, Petra ; Strnadel, Tomáš (advisor)
Cleft lip and / or palate is one of the most common congenital defects ( CR 1 in 500 newborns) with significant involvement of genetic component in the etiology. They represent a serious disability face the consequences of aesthetic , functional and psychological . Anomalous growth and development of the facial skeleton causes the development of jaw and dental disorders. Orthodontic therapy , sometimes combined with Maxillofacial orthopedic lasts into adulthood and often ends prosthetic dořešením . Severe dysfunction is a speech disorder requiring intensive speech therapy and speech therapy . Comprehensive treatment of clefts is therefore necessarily multidisciplinary , long-term and costly , which also participates in programs focusing on prevention (genetics, teratology, epidemiology) and Research " ( Šmahel et al . , 2000). An important role is played by the analysis of origin of morphological changes ; the extent of the affected Primary growth insufficiency tissues , to what extent are the result of surgical procedures and when it is a result of the effect of altered functional relations. The findings are then confronted with the knowledge of the etiology and mechanisms of defects ( Tomanová , 1993). Anthropometric monitoring could also contribute to the estimation of genetic predispositions for the...

Manipulation of children in the prose of Aldous Huxley and George Orwell
Linhart, Marek ; Clark, Colin Steele (referee) ; Wallace, Clare (advisor)
The focus of this thesis are two of the most prominent specimen of utopian literature, namely George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four and Aldous Huxley's Brave New World. Despite the fact that Brave New World, which was published in 1932, predates Nineteen Eighty-Four by seventeen years and was written in a quite different social and political climate, both these books share many important elements. While depicting vastly different societies with diverse structures of power distribution, they both express certain fears and worries that their respective authors had about the future of civilisation, which is why they were chosen as primary texts for this thesis. More specifically, the main area of discourse is going to be the treatment of children and their relation to the state as depicted in these books. In this field, both Orwell's Oceania and Huxley's World State share the same objective, which is to turn children and the young generation in general into an obedient tool to be at the system's disposal. This aim is very prominent for many reasons in both books, but the results are the same; children willingly submit themselves fully to the state and become one of the major means the state possesses to achieve its goals. The degree of control over children both in Brave New World and Nineteen Eighty- Four is...

The pharmacotherapy of skin manifestations of allergy
Krátká, Jana ; Trejtnar, František (referee) ; Melicharová, Ludmila (advisor)
Skin serves as the first line of defense between the individal and the environment. Disruption of epidermal barrier can facilitate penetration of iritants, allergens, microbes and other particulars to epidermis. It can result in inflammatory reaction. Diseases, which manifest mainly on the skin and are of allergic origin, are atopic dermatitis (AD), contact dermatitis, urticaria and angioedema. AD is highly pruritic chronic or chronic recurrent noninfectious inflammatory disease. Treatment should be comprehensive. The first would be the effort to identify and eliminate causative allergens. This also applies to other diseases. There is importace of hydration and overall skin care (emollients). Intensity of anti-inflammatory treatment (corticosteroids, topical imunomodulators, antibiotics) depends on the current state of dermatitis. Contact dermatitis is representative of the IV.type of immunopathological reaction. It takes effect after various lengths of time of skin contact with allergen. Local and general treatment depends on the extent and intensity of damaged skin and is to reduce the local inflammation. Urticaria and angioedema is characterized by vasodilatation, increased vascular permeability in the skin (urticaria) or subcutaneous tissue or submucosal tissue (angioedema). These symptoms are...

Objectification of disorders fine motor skills of the upper extremities in patients with hereditary neuropathies
Nývltová, Marcela ; Kraus, Josef (referee) ; Kobesová, Alena (advisor)
In the first part of the thesis Objectification of disorders of the fine motor skills of the upper extremities in the patients with hereditary neuropathies there are mentioned some brief informations about characteristics, classifications, clinical symptoms, deformities and testing of upper extremities, rehabilitation and treatment of CMT neuropathy. The practical part of this thesis is concerned with testing and evaluating of strength, fine motor skills and sensation of the upper extremities in the patients with CMT. For the measurement of the hand strenght the dynamometry and the functional muscle test are used. The Jebsen-Taylor test, the Nine-Hole Peg Test and the examination of static and dynamic handgrip rating are used. For the examination of the sensation the Nottingham Sensory Assessment is used. CMT neuropathy score and Overall Neuropathy Disability Scaleare are used for the classification of disability. The aim of this thesis is the comparison of the muscle strength and the function of the dominant and non-dominant hand. Partial aim of thesis is detection of the correlations between tests. According to the results CMT disease leads to the muscle strenght weakness and to worsening of the fine motor skills mainly of the dominant upper extremity. This may be the result of overwork weakness. For...

Approach focused on person and psychotherapy of psychoses
Volfová, Pavla ; Šípek, Jiří (advisor) ; Junková, Vendula (referee)
Pharmacotherapy, Educational Therapy, Cognitive-Behavior Therapy, and other training methods are mentioned most frequently as optimum methods of comprehensive treatment of psychotic patients. In my thesis, I attempt to increase awareness of possible therapy options, and include another approach which has been applied in psychotherapy for many decades, which has been tested by research for its efficiency, but which is also met with scepticism whenever its application in psychotherapy of psychotic disorders is mentioned. In this theoretical account I present assets and limitations of Person Centered Therapy, and prepare grounds for future empirical research which would validate statements proposed in the present study.

Economic Impacts of Nosocomial Clostridium Difficile Infection in a Health Care Facility
Váchová, Eva ; Lešetický, Ondřej (advisor) ; Bednářová, Martina (referee)
Nosocomial infections represent for the health care providers serious economical and also health complications. The aim of this thesis is a comprehensive presentation of nosocomial infections. Second part focuses on a bacteria Clostridium difficile. This thesis analyzes epidemiological situation in a particular medical care facility together with the cost of therapy. The incidence of Clostridium difficile is, despite of the worldwide increasing trend, decreasing in the selected facility. Significant differences exist among individual departments in the amount of samples collected as well as in their rate of positivity for the bacteria presence. Data collected are applied to a German pharmacoeconomic model which compares vancomycin therapy with fidaxomicin therapy. On a group of 100 patients it was proved that more efficient is, despite of its higher price, treatment by fidaxomicin because it leads to a lower percentage of recurrences and morbidity and mortality decrease.
