Cyprus: the Crossroad between Europe and Asia
Smetáček, Martin ; Adamcová, Lenka (advisor) ; Němečková, Tereza (referee)
In my work I consider the cultural-political routing of Cyprus from its position between Europe and Asia with respect to its economical orientation. In the view of the fact that Cyprus was a profoundly developing country in the year 1960, when winning its independence from Great Britain, I focus mainly on its economic development after the year 1960 and the performance of the economy on the threshold of the 21st century, whereas I ask myself if Cyprus has already completed its transformation from a developing country into a socially and economically developed country with modern free market economy. The work briefly records the history of the country since its infancy in as early as 8th millennium BC up to the end of the 20th century AC, it further considers the economic development of Cyprus at the end of the 20th century, and finally it focuses on the current social-economic conditions in the country under the pattern of dividing economies between developing and developed countries. The work also regards the intercommunity rupture, which dominates Cyprus since 1974 and factually divides it in two parts: the Cyprus Republic and the internationally unrecognized Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. I accentuate exclusively the date regarding the Cyprus Republic.

Current economics crisis in the works of Paul R. Krugman and Joseph E. Stiglitz
Tóth, Lukáš ; Skuhrovec, Jiří (referee) ; Mertlík, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the thoughts on current economic crisis in works of Paul Krugman and Joseph Stiglitz. It starts with an overview of their current criticisms and comments on the deregulatory policies that took place in the U.S. for almost 20 years and the government stimulus and bailout bills that according to Krugman and Stiglitz do not sufficiently reflect the underlying issues that causes the crisis in the first place. Thesis continues with identification of these issues in works of both economists and links them to their previous works. I argue, that many of these issues have been identified long before the crisis and could be dealt with in time by proper regulatory measures. The last chapter contains several thoughts on issues I believe represent a more general layer of what lead to the current economic crisis.

Mythical paradigms of the avant-garde and its time
Micić, Tatjana ; Glanc, Tomáš (advisor) ; Procházka, Martin (referee) ; Jedličková, Alice (referee)
This paper is trying to present how changes of mythology, in Losev's sense, influenced art, literature and attitude towards poetic language. The study presents the Avant-garde movements in all theirs heterogenic forms, as the art of the period of crises, which appears in European culture and brought big changes in the consciousness of people. By describing an artistic attitude towards space and time we give examples how this new consciousness dealt with the spatial and time relations. Also this paper deals with the universal myths that are shown on the examples of the Avant-garde works of art. The chosen myths should present a desire of the Avant-garde movements to rebuilt, reconstruct and understand the very essence of the language of art and poetry. The Avant-garde art and literature cannot be understood if separated from the time when they appeared. Nevertheless, these movements carry in essence something that is generally characteristic of mythical thinking as well - that is, the periodical, instinctive return to essence and original purity with an aspiration to reconstruct the genetic moment and the act of creating. This phenomenon we analyze through myths that are omnipresent in European and other cultures and which appear in Avant-garde works as well.
