Geographical aspects of recreational houses and apartments' issue in Czechia
Kadlecová, Veronika
Recreation has played, and will always play, an important role in people's lives. People have always longed for a familiar place to relax, however, the ways of relaxing and the types of recreational property have been evolving. New trends in second housing have emerged in developed states during second half of 20th century and lately in Czechia as well. The most expanded new trend in Czechia is a tendency to purchase own apartments in apartment houses built in attractive localities of mountains, lake sides, near golf courses and spa areas. Among other trends belong for example internationalization, commercionalization of second housing, and timesharing. This thesis aims to describe issue of recreational apartments in Czechia, discover its geographical aspects, patterns and characteristics of its developement. Also predicted future tendencies are discussed. The focus is given to the study of effects which might be caused by the construction and use of above mentioned recreational flats. Existence of these real estates might have negative impacts for the neigbouring nature, economic situation of municipalities and social atmosphere in destinations. There are a lot of subjects involved in this issue (local authorities and inhabitants, investors, nature protective authorities) which means possible...

Influence of latent toxoplasmosis on sex ratio and pregnancy progression - search for proximate cause
Kaňková, Šárka ; Flegr, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Votýpka, Jan (referee) ; Calda, Pavel (referee)
The boy-to-girl ratio at birth (secondary sex ratio) is around 1.06 in most populations. The sex ratio may be influenced by many factors, such as stress and immunosuppression, age of parents, parity and sex of preceding siblings. The most common human protozoan parasite in developed countries, Toxoplasma gondii (prevalence 20% - 80%), is known to change the behaviour of its intermediate hosts, thereby increasing the probability of transmission to its definitive host (the cat) by predation. The results of our retrospective cohort study suggest that the presence of Toxoplasma gondii, can influence the secondary sex ratio in humans. Depending on the antibody concentration, the probability of the birth of a boy can increase up to a value of 0.72, which means that for every 260 boys born, 100 girls are born to women with the highest concentration of anti-Toxoplasma antibodies. In accordance with results on human subjects, laboratory mice with toxoplasmosis produced a higher sex ratio than controls, in the early phase of latent infection. Our further results showed that mice in the early phase of latent infection exhibited temporarily increased production of interleukin (IL)-12 and decreased production of IL-10. The mice showed decreased production of IL-2 and nitric oxide and decreased proliferation...

Chronic Patients' Depression
Pečinková, Jana ; Šivicová, Gabriela (advisor) ; Loneková, Katarína (referee)
This thesis "Chronic Patients' Depression" looks into Alzheimer's disease patients' depression. Theoretical part focuses on topics of old age, dementia syndrome, Alzheimer's disease and depression. These topics are described also in their associations. Current researches in the field of study are mentioned too. Practical part deals with presence of depression in Alzheimer's persons. Hypothesis that depression is more frequent in early stage of dementia is tested. In the research there is used standardised method - Yesevage's Geriatric Depression Scale. Other methods which can bring new information is also used (Geriatric Depression Scale filled in by caring persons and structured observation). The outcome is 9,7% Alzheimer's patients suffer from depression. More persons with depression we can find in a group of Alzheimer's early stage however difference between group of early and advanced stage is not significant. This study occupies with assets of other methods for diagnostic of depression.

Transformations of Peronist populism in Argentina
Jirsová, Tereza ; Němec, Jan (advisor) ; Paulenková, Kristína (referee)
Peronism has been one of the most widely used terms in the context of Argentinean politics, history and culture over the last 60 years. In spite of the fact that there is no official definition of the term, many different political strategies in Argentina are referred to as Peronist. Why is it so complicated to define the concept of Peronism? What does it really mean when Argentinean presidents claim to be Peronists? This thesis is based on the hypothesis that Peronism is primarily brand of political populist projects. The first chapter classifies the concept of populism, the second chapter deals with the particular populism in Latin America and the third chapter analyzes the individual mandates of Peronist presidents. The analysis strongly supports the working hypothesis.

Hledání ztraceného času - zhodnocení studie z roku 1983: "Krajinně ekologické důsledky výstavby a provozu Jaderné elektrárny Temelín".
Bartoš, Michael ; Kušová, Drahomíra ; Těšitel, Jan
A part of the study from the year 1983 “Landscape-ecological consequences of the construction and running the Nuclear power plant Temelín“ was used as one of the information bases for the research project “Social-ecological and psychological impacts of the nuclear power plant of Temelín”. The main hypothesis of the study was that nuclear power plant Temelín would be the main driving force of the region’s development. From nowadays point of view this hypothesis is actual (was accomplished). On the other hand the study didn’t take into account the possibilities of political and economic changes in the Czech Republic. As a result, many of socio economic phenomena forecasted by the study have not become reality.

Alternative measures of risk - application on the Central European region
Vodňanský, Ondřej ; Rippel, Milan (referee) ; Gapko, Petr (advisor)
Increasing volume of research shows that both theoretical assumptions and empirical fit of traditional mean-variance and CAPM frameworks are flawed. Hence, other risk measures are gaining popularity. Downside risk measures not only represent the theory well, they are also significant in explaining variations of stock returns. Most importantly, the definition of risk they provide is more in line with perspectives of investors. We have carried out extensive testing on a sample of companies from the Czech Republic, Germany and Poland. Our results show that Semivariance with respect to zero is the most significant risk measure while CAPM beta by itself has little use. Finally, we also analysed importance of idiosyncratic risk on CEE shares and found out that it is indeed priced on the Czech and Polish stock markets but not in Germany.

Capital Asset Price Modelling: Concept VAPM
Kuklik, Robert G. ; Janda, Karel (advisor) ; Kodera, Jan (referee) ; Lukáš, Ladislav (referee)
The key objective of this thesis is the outline of an alternative capital market modeling framework, the Volatility Asset Pricing Model, VAPM, inspired by the innovative dual approach of Mandelbrot and Hudson using the method based on synthesis of two seemingly antagonistic factors -- the volatility of market prices and their serial dependence determining the capital markets' dynamics. The pilot tests of this model in various periods using the market index as well as a portfolio of selected securities delivered generally satisfactory results. Firstly, the work delivers a brief recapitulation regarding the concepts of a consumer/investor choice under general conditions of hypothetical certainty. Secondly, this outline is then followed by a description of the "classical" methodologies in the risky environment of uncertainty, with assessment of their corresponding key models, i.e. the CAPM, SIM, MIM, APTM, etc., notwithstanding results of the related testing approaches. Thirdly, this assessment is based on evaluation of the underlying doctrine of Efficient Market Hypothesis in relation to the so called Random Walk Model. Fourthly, in this context the work also offers a brief exposure to a few selected tests of these contraversial concepts. Fifthly, the main points of conteporary approaches such as the Fractal Dimension and the Hurst Exponent in the dynamic framework of information entropy are subsequently described as the theoretical tools leading to development of the abovementioned model VAPM. The major contribution of this thesis is considered its attempt to apply the abovementioned concepts in practice, with the intention to possibly inspire a further analytical research.

Rozdíly mezi pohlavími jako reakce na prodejní pobídky
Solilyak, Maryna ; Král, Petr (advisor) ; Zlatić, Marija (referee)
Today, more and more similar products in one product line appear on store shelves, and buying decisions have become more complicated for the consumer. Despite this, producers have a clear vision that one of the most effective tools that can be used to distinguish their products is sales promotion. Nevertheless, every customer is unique, and the responses to sales promotion tools differ as well. The reason for sales promotion campaigns success depends on the depth of understanding of consumer behaviour. In order to create a successful communication campaign, marketers should be aware in the best ways of reaching the desired consumers. In this work we will take a look at the gender differences in consumer behaviour. In particular, we would like to see different responses toward men and women toward sales promotion campaigns.
