The function of the language semiosis in the Quentin tarantino's films

Diploma thesis "The function of the language semiosis in the Quentin Tarantino's films" deals with interception and description of the uniqueness of linguistic expressions in the films of one of the most important film directors and screenwriters - Quentin Tarantino. Through semiotic analysis it examines significant elements in movies and screenplays and describes the characteristic method of used expressions. It focuses mainly on characteristics signs and symbols as the main tool of semiosis, and their function in the film language. Diploma thesis focuses also on description of used semantic expressions, explanation of their occurrence in the author's pieces, and trying to capture the originality of the artist's expression. The final part examines Tarantino's role in the cinematography and tries to explain the causes of the great media success.
Mushrooms and Slag Heaps: Symbolic Processes and Practices of Group Boundaries Defining in Kukolice

Presented paper is concerned with the issue of symbolic processes and practices used for creation of group boundaries of Kukolice community. The village inhabitants use various images and narratives in order to enact the boundaries in relation to the neighbouring Polish group. The main objective of the work is to analyze and understand the aforementioned practices. The paper uses theoretical background based on Cohen's Symbolic Construction of Community, Said's Orientalism and Elias's foreword to the Established and the Outsiders to interpret and analyze the empirical data. The research was carried out in a village inhabited by 390 people, located on the border with Poland in Frydlant area. Unstructured interviews, participant observations and analyses of media and official documents were mostly used during the research. Over the course of the analysis, Poles seem to merge with the images of mine and power plant, dirt, poverty and lesser degree of civilization that are all ascribed to the Polish territory behind the border, following Taussig's concept of mimetic faculty.
Nature in the work of María Luisa Bombal

The central theme of this thesis is to discuss the depiction of nature in the work of the Chilean author María Luisa Bombal and to show how she introduces a woman's perspective into these texts. The emphasis is on finding t ypical symbols which are used in the author's novels and short stories and to focus on their specific usage and connotations. For greater clarit y, the author's work is divided into 3 major thematic units: seeking for love in vain, the cosmic connection of female characters wi th nature, and her interpretation of the relationship between life and death.
The Idea of Desert in Modern Arabic Short Stories

This thesis examines the theme of desert as literary environment in modern Arabic short story. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the short story's texts dealing with the desert. This topic will be approached in terms of semantic-symbolic analysis, which will be matched by the relationship between nature and the environment as a landscape, and nature as a source of mythological and fantastic ideas, which are reflected in the life of literary figures and story construction. The work includes a search for an answer to the question of what is the diference between the author who has direct access to the desert and the other one who deals with urban or other environments according to the geographic origin. The work is divided into three parts, which then develop symbolic, mythological and anthropological analysis of selected texts. Prototypization,archetypization and mytologization in Avatar

This thesis called "Prototypization, archetypization and mythologization in Avatar" deals with movie, which took the first place in audience ratings. Long-awaited, high-budget movie Avatar has become a landmark in film industry by utilizing the latest technology in making mores and influenced the creation of movies, that came after him. The first part is devoted to theories of semiotics and definition of science fiction with subgeneres, which are utilized in to construction of narration. The second part of thesis is focused on narrative, musical, speech and image analysis. Theories and proceduries, which are marked out on previous chapters, are here applied on each of the movie scene. Commencement of movie with 3D effects aroused the intereset of the audience to regularly visit a cinema again. This thesis studies the impact of the new phenomenon on quality of workmanship and tone of the story first shot with the help of new technology. The story line goes back to the myths, that are already functional and creates their own semiotic space with the help of their best practices. This movie is using superficial prettiness and trying to impress the viewer senses, with perfectly sophisticated virtual reality and protruding images and all of that is for reaching success. Formation of new identity and symbols of the Czech society in 1989-1993 (Analysis in terms of the concept of civil religion)

The thesis tries to prove applicability of the concept "civil religion" to the Czech society. After presentation of the concept of civil religion originating from R. Bellah, civil society and legitimization (grounded in the ideas of J. Přibáň) the addresses of president V. Havel and the articles from the selected newspapers of that period are analysed. In 1989-1993 as the transformative and crisis period one can observe the debate about the necessity of creating a civil society, finding a way of legitimizing the new condition and creating a new collective identity. Focusing on the individual and the citizenship following from the analysed articles constitutes the societal fundaments; and in these fundaments, thanks to "civil religion", there are recognized the transcendent component and the universality that both convey unifying potential and can be presented in a particular form through myths.
Comparison of Implementation Strategies of the DFA

This bachelor thesis focuses upon the choices of methods, which are used to store automata on FPGA. There have been chosen these methods: bit-split, compress method and hash table. Then there are being compared the sizes of used memory, which are taken by automata in representation of these methods. The importaint part of this work is testing many kinds of samples. After the results have been achieved, I was able to examine the advantages and disadvantages of each method. Finally the analysis reveals which of the chosen methods is the best to store the automata on FPGA.
Corporate culture in small and medium-sized enterprises

The main objective of this dissertation was compare of two firms from aspect corporate culture. The questionnaire, interviews and observational metod were used for the research and for the understanding of the companies culture. After studying the literature I summarized the theoretical information, which forms the first part of my thesis. Based on the study of literature, I analyzed corporate culture in a selected companies. This analysis forms the second part of my thesis. In order to discover the results, the questionnaire VSM 94 of Geert Hofstede was used. From this questionnaire, 20 questions were used which were supplemented with 15 own questions. Furthermore, the unstructured interviews were conducted with the employees and I also took part the observations in both companies in order to help understand and discover the symbols. After that, I focused on finding the dimensions according to Geert Hofstede. The calculations were made on the established formulas. At the end of my thesis I proposed the recommendations for overall improvement and streamlining the current situation.
