Transformation of IT within a global corporation
Slota, Juraj ; Střížová, Vlasta (advisor) ; Toman, Pavel (referee)
This thesis deals with the changes in the organizational structure of the IT department at Procter & Gamble over the past 9 years. During this time, the originally functionally and geographically scattered IT function, has been integrated into a centralized function and renamed to Information and Decision Solutions, to mark its shift in direction from a support function to a true strategic partner of the various PG businesses. This function was then further integrated in to the Global Business Service shared-service organization. The non-strategic services have been outsourced, mainly to Hewlett Packard, to allow GBS to focus on IT-driven innovation and bringing more value to the Company. To achieve this goal, GBS has undergone several changes in its structure, to emerge today as an organization with a "hypertext-bureaucracy" hybrid structure. This allows for a flexible, process-based approach, enabling to GBS address the biggest priorities as they arise. The changes have nevertheless brought about some difficulties, whose implications and ideas for mitigation are explored towards the end of this thesis.

Maršálek, Michal ; Kodymová, Pavla (advisor) ; Šiklová, Jiřina (referee)
Although the situation of disabled students at universities is generally improving, the social integration of these students is still difficult in quite a number of cases. This thesis is based on the premise that one of the most important conditions of a full and fruitful experience of student life is that students should be well-informed. In view of the advantages of modern information technologies (speed, accessibility, low cost) more and more information is being conveyed via electronic media. Students are expected to take an active approach to obtaining information from these media, but as with other forms of mass diffusion of information, here too there is a risk that specific information for minority groups, including disabled students, will be overlooked. Furthermore, physical disability represents a constraint on students that makes them particularly dependent on prompt, accessible and correct information. The integration of disabled students into the university is conditioned by the creation of equal opportunities for study and other activities that are part of university life. Information provided to disabled students ought therefore to relate to the services and activities that lead to creation of these equal opportunities. This thesis focuses on university students with hearing, visual and motor...

Kollár, Martin ; Mlčoch, Lubomír (advisor) ; Gregor, Martin (referee)
The thesis of this work is to enlighten the process of decision making of an individual in time, which is in the end integrated into market system, where many individuals, who are deciding simultaneously, interact together,. The fundamental principles of decision making contained in this work are drawn from the work of G. L. S. Shackle, which chief characteristics are instantaneousness and uncertainty caused by the lapse of time. Hence, the decision making of an individual takes place in the specific instant through generation of conceptions about possible future outcomes of action. The generation of these concepts is based on instantaneous and apriory conceptions, which represent the description of the working of system. Further decision making consists of application of expectations and assignment of future value to the imagined outcomes. As every individual lives in a society comprised of a large number of individuals, diffusion of knowledge and expectation takes place by means of realization of plans and price mechanisms. Thus, every individual achieves to gather sufficient amount of knowledge to be able to make meaningful decisions in this complex system, which is changing in the lapse of time.
