Drnek, Kryštof ; Jakubec, Ivan (advisor) ; Hájek, Jan (referee)
Kryštof Drnek The City of Prague and it's logistic support. Transformation of the city and it's technical networks in the years 1913-1952 Abstract The Prague's evolution into capitol of the new republic is divided into three stages, split by two wars. The progress of the city begun deep in the era of the Austria-Hungary imperium - in the middle of the 19th century, when the new town council was elected from czech townsman upper classes. It led into the process started with series of construction and administration projects. The city was upgraded with new bridges, railwaystations. On the place of the fortified walls, which were cancelled in the year 1866, shortly after Prussian- Austrian war, was quickly built piles of houses that bound inner Prague with it's suburbs. The administration were trying to connect the Prague's suburbs with the inner city but only few of them this procesess accepted. The foursome of the inner satellites (Žižkov, Karlín, Královské Vinohrady and Smíchov1) this projects declined and until the World War I remained on their own. Building of the logistic sites city underwent from the middle of the 19th century. First two logistic sites, the water supply system and the sewer system, were ancient systems supplying the city from the Middle Age. As the city was growing, the systems weren't...

Prohibition vs. decriminalization - two different approaches to the drug abuse problem
Tomány, Lubomír ; Šťastný, Daniel (advisor) ; Hudík, Marek (referee)
The main subject of this study is a comparation of two different policies which are used to cope with the drug abuse problem - prohibition and decriminalization. Example is set on the U.S. and the Netherlands. First, each policy is described in detail. Subsequently, both policies are compared according to criteria of the drug use prevalence and the direct costs related with them. The Netherlands, which applies decriminalization, has maintained lower drug use prevalence than the U.S for long time and in almost all kinds of drugs and age groups. Moreover, Netherlands it achieves at the same or lower relative costs. Yet, the higher drug use prevalence does not prove ineffectiveness of policy prohibition. It seems that the U.S. is more likely to have higher prevalence due to more general tendency of using drugs in population. The study also shows that the decriminalization can be linked to increase of drug use that followed its introduction in Netherlands.

Langrová, Veronika ; Mužík, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Jarošová, Helena (referee) ; Tureckiová, Michaela (referee)
The period we live in is characterized by change. Not only does this change affect the world around us, but also our very selves. It also has impact on functioning and general run of organizations including the field of employee education and development. It is necessary for organizations to be viable and able to withstand growing competition in the market environment to adequately react to these changes. At the beginning, but also in the course of writing of the presented doctoral thesis, I asked myself a question, how the organizations are able to cope with the mentioned problems, what innovations does this process bring to the field of human resources and more importantly education and development management, what needs and new situations does it bring about and how are the organizations able to react to all the described challenges. My goal is to introduce coaching as one of the ways of development and to offer self-contained view on this method and its implementation in the framework of education and development in organizations. This allows me to link together theoretical concern with my own practical experience in this field and at the same time to introduce concrete examples of coaching adjustment in organizations in the Czech Republic, to explore quality and the rate of success of coaching use and...

Comparison of the possibilities of object-oriented and relational databases
Šolar, Tomáš ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Pavlíčková, Jarmila (referee)
This thesis presents the theoretical description of relational and object-oriented databases, including the underlying basic concepts. The paper briefly describes the specific database systems according to various categories. Work tries to look at all the facts in general terms therefore does part of it explain other database principles. On the example of a small library the paper displays the strengths and weaknesses of both principles. Later the paper describes more thoroughly the Caché database system, which can be addressed by both principles. The difference between object and relational approach is then shown in this environment. The goal is therefore to provide side information about the various principles, define the differences in categories and then show the problems on a practical example. Further clarify the specific database system and try to demonstrate the previously defined categories in this environment. One's own contribution to the treated subject can be found in different approaches of the specific models, the comparison of the two approaches on particular examples, the examination of the selected database system and conducting a comparison of the principles in the Caché environment.

The main aim of the work is to analyze business processes in a particular company. At the beginning of the work, there is briefly described the introduction to the theory of the process modelling. Next there is a narration of the specific methodology chosen and the process modelling tool. Finally, there is the process model of a concrete company. The benefits of the work should encompass the connection in the theoretical knowledge of the modelling process with the practical experience of the modelling process directly in a real business. Another benefit should be presented by the usage of the actual process model in the company mentioned.

Functional characterization of selected microtubule regulatory
Vinopal, Stanislav ; Dráber, Pavel (advisor) ; Binarová, Pavla (referee) ; Hašek, Jiří (referee)
Microtubules (MTs) play crucial roles in intracellular organization and transport, cell polarity, motility, signalling, division and differentiation. MTs form complex arrays, which are, due to their highly dynamic nature, capable of rapid reorganization in response to cellular requirements. Dynamics, stability and spatial organization of MTs are regulated by many factors including MT regulatory proteins. In the presented study we functionally characterized three selected MT regulatory proteins: Ca2+ -sensor STIM1, MT severing protein spastin and γ-tubulin that is essential for MT nucleation. We found out that activation of bone marrow mast cells (BMMCs) leads to the formation of plasma membrane protrusions containing MTs. Formation of these MT protrusions is dependent on an influx of extracellular Ca2+ regulated by protein STIM1, located in endoplasmic reticulum. STIM1 associates with MTs and its depletion prevents formation of MT protrusions. This indicates that Ca2+ ions might be involved in MT regulation. Since STIM1 depletion also causes defects in chemotaxis, we propose that MT protrusions might be involved in sensing of external signals recognized by BMMCs. Glioblastoma multiforme is the most common and most aggressive malignant primary brain tumor in humans. We demonstrated that MT severing...
