Analysis of marketing tools of music industry in the era of digital distribution.

This thesis explores history and development of music industry including tools of monetization, from the beginning of music publishing, inventions of various sound recording methods and related birth of recording industry, to various forms of internet-based distribution of recorded music. It especially focuses on digital means of music distribution and their influence on artists, recording companies as well as consumers -- listeners. It maps connections and consequences resulting from over one hundred old paradigm shift caused by rapid evolution of mobile technology and Internet. Especially the last chapter attempts to anticipate future of this market segment, based on the examples of particular artists, even though it is still in a process of on-going changes.
The Influence of Data Portability to a contemporary musical Practices

Today the influence of it to the music is constantly enriched by new opportunities that help to bring also a different audio-visual experience to recipients. The implementation of new devices to the musical practice moves in the way of intuitive controling and performer's freedom of expression. The thesis is dedicated to this influence and reflects the portability of data between different media as one of the options of compositional technique.

This thesis considers current status of recording industry divided into two parts – music and audiobooks, either in the whole world and Czech Republic. Used technologies, payment systems and business models are examined alongside with fresh information from recording industry. The models part describes an ideal business model, which incorporates current trends and creates a vision of the business in the future. Applied part adjusts this model according to real world factors into a model usable in the Czech Republic. A final SWOT analysis describes all strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the given model.
Influence of technologies on the music industry in terms of music distribution

Diploma thesis deals with the influence of technologies on the music industry in terms of music distribution. In the first part the two major issues are discussed for deeper understanding of the topic. The change of perception and creation of music over certain period of time and the development of technologies related to music in historical context. Following chapters are mainly focused on current technologies, digitalization and the internet, and global turnovers which have had impact on distribution of music as a consequence of technological spread. In addition to this, the issue of legal aspects related to sharing and downloading music via internet is described. The strategies have been created and adopted by the music industry representatives as a response to the situation of increasing intensity of infringing copyright law by unauthorized sharing and decreasing number of physical media sales. The goal of these strategies has been aimed at support expansion of online music services and raising of public copyright awareness. The work analyses and assesses above mentioned strategies and estimates the possible future development of music industry. Assumptions are created on the basis of historical background and current situation. The partial objective is to evaluate whether the sales of physical media have future as a main source of income for music industry or not.
The Representation of Music Bands in the Copyright Protection Association for Music Rights in the Czech Republic

The aim of the thesis is to describe historical development of copyright protection and representation of authors. The Czech copyright has changed five times since the Czech Republic gained independence from Austro-Hungarian Empire. There is justified the importance of copyright protection of artistic works and artistic performances. The copyright protection and artistic performances originate from basic ownership law of intangible goods. The thesis describes the definition of collective rights management societies. It is focused primarily on The Copyright Protection Association for Music Rights in the Czech Republic. The thesis evaluates the functioning of Copyright Protection Associations in practice. There is described a distribution of royalties based on data gained from an author of a band of a small scale. The contribution of the thesis is a complex evaluation of OSA as an institution which is providing collective copyrights protection and all kinds of services for authors. The contribution is to identify where exists the limit from which it is reasonable for an author to be represented by the collective rights management society.

Bachelor thesis "New media and social networks and their influence on the music publishing industry" focuses on the role played by social media in the music industry. The aim of this thesis is to introduce new media and social networks and determine their positive and negative effects in the field of music while outlining how such media can be used in marketing music. First part introduces social media, describes the term and states its definition. Furthermore analyzes the differences of social media in comparison to other forms of media and focuses on the introduction of different social media types. The following section defines the music industry and focuses on its development in the 21st century. Final part discusses the use of social media in relation to music industry in the time of adapting to the digital age.

This thesis analyzes current situation of audio distribution on the Internet, its authorized and unauthorized option. Predicts future development by application of cryptography and offers solutions for increase the share of authorized audio distribution by means of three pillars -- shopping simplification, increase user friendliness and offer to include added value to authorized distribution.
Marketing communication of an independent music band

The main intention of this dissertation named "Marketing communication of an independent music band" is implementing marketing routines into marketing communication of beginning independent music band considering the influence of various contemporary factors on the music industry as a whole. The first theoretical part of the dissertation illustrates the present-day state of the music industry, influence of digital media - mainly the influence of internet. The second theoretical part describes fundamental terms such as marketing communication, integrated marketing communication, elements of communication mix and new trends of marketing communication. Practical part is divided into two main chapters - analysis of relevant media-market and concept of marketing communication strategy for the band. The dissertation aims to assist independent music performers as an instrument for qualified insight on marketing communication in their own environment.

Formáty pro ukládání zvuku a další aspekty jejich šíření

Zvuk je mechanické chvění, které se přenáší vzduchem. Uložen může být analogově nebo digitálně. Digitálně se zvuk ukládá do souborů různých formátů se ztrátou nebo beze ztráty informace. Ztrátové formáty se od sebe liší mírou komprese, mírou ztráty informace a datovým tokem nutným pro přehrávání. Hudební díla uložená v těchto formátech jsou většinou chráněna autorským právem a jejich šíření bez souhlasu autora je trestné. K tomuto nelegálnímu šíření se dnes využívají výměnné sítě. Ty můžeme dělit na tři podskupiny a to sítě s centrálním vyhledávačem, decentralizovaným vyhledáváním a distribuovaným anonymním vyhledáváním. Masivní využívání těchto sítí mělo za následek snížení tržeb nahrávacích společností, které se snažily tento pokles zmírnit různými prostředky (ochrana kompaktních disků, mediální kampaně, represe).
