Accident insurance analysis in the Czech insurance market

The goal of this work is to introduce readers to accident insurance, give them a concise, readily understood, overview of the contents, and to analyze the similarities and the position of accident insurance in the Czech insurance market. The thesis is divided into two chapters. The first chapter is focused on basic information about accident insurance especially its history and present position in the Czech insurance market including legal regulations in the conditions of the Czech Republic and the determination of the subjects in insurance furthermore definition of the term accident, exclusions, classes of the insurance benefit and accident insurance and calculation of the premium and insurance benefit. The last chapter contains accident insurance analysis in two different insurance companies.

The legal framework of investment services provision

The legal framework of investment services provision This thesis deals with the issue of legal framework of investment services provision. The aim of the thesis is to theoretically define and analyse the issue of selected investment services and rules governing their provision. The first two chapters of the thesis are devoted to general theoretical issues related to the topic, among others to the reasons of regulation of investment services provision and impact of the EU law on the present topic. The third chapter deals with the characteristics and structuring of investment services. The chapter four characterises the investment services and activities and analyses the investment service reception and transmission of orders in relation to financial instruments. The chapter five is devoted to investment advice. The chapter six analyses the legal instruments of protection of the client as an investment services addressee. Finally, the draft of measures designed to increase the level of client protection is proposed. Within the whole thesis, the author presents his interpretation of the disputable questions of the present topic.

Protection of cetaceans in international law

In four chapters that this thesis consists of is presented the protection provided to cetaceans by international law. The first chapter gives insight into the biology of cetaceans, names facts relevant to their conservation and its legal basis. The second chapter deals with legal regulation of whaling. It analyzes the history and current situation in the International Whaling Commission as the only global organization to manage the exploitation of large cetaceans, particularly in terms of adopting protective measures for the recovery and conservation of whale stocks. The third chapter focuses on the species approach in protection of cetaceans as endangered animals. The fourth chapter addresses the protection of cetaceans' environment. First it deals with the protection of marine environment in general and then with the protection of cetacean habitats.

Insolvency practitioner in case of resolution of the debtor's insolvency by bankruptcy

The purpose of insolvency proceedings in case of bankruptcy is to find out registered proof of dept and its subsequent relative satisfaction from the proceeds of the realization of estate. The main activities of the insolvency practitioner in the performance of his function is to review the filed claims of creditors, the findings of the estate and its subsequent inventory, management and sale. Position of the insolvency practitioner in the insolvency proceedings is a complicated issue, which is in our legal environment little discussed by legal theorists and it is necessary in many cases work solely on the insolvency practice. The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the current legislation regarding the insolvency practitioner and his role in insolvency proceedings with respect to the professional literature, the applicable legislation and case law. The thesis also shows the complexity of the position of the insolvency practitioner. At the beginning of the second chapter is given a definition of procedural subjects in insolvency proceedings and theoretical understanding of the function of the insolvency practitioner. Social protection of persons with disabilities My thesis treats social protection of persons with disabilities. The purpose of the thesis is to analyse the Czech and French legislation in the field of social security of person with disabilities. The thesis is composed of four sections. The first section which is divided into two chapters is dedicated to generalities - the first chapter gives a theoretic definition of the handicap and persons with disabilities. The second chapter investigates the protection of person with disabilities from the point of view of the international law and European Union's law that represent the foundation of the Czech and French legal system. The European patent

This master thesis deals with the European Patent System. The aim of this thesis is to provide the reader with a complex review of the Patent Law at the european level from its early beginning, when in the 70's was signed the European Patent Convention at the Munich Diplomatic Conference, up to the present. The thesis is systematically divided into five chapters and each chapter also contains several subchapters. The first chapter is dedicated to historical development of the European Patent. In the second chapter there is a brief description of the European Patent Convention and its two most important revisions. The third, most extensive chapter is dedicated to the European Patent Organisation which was founded in 1977 on the legal basis of the European Patent Convention. I deal especially with its two fundamental bodies - the European Patent Office and the Administrative Council. There is also a definition of the term of patentability as it is regulated by European Patent Convention and a characteristic of the European Patent Application. Mergers and divisions of companies in Belarus - legal and accounting view

The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze the process of mergers in Belarus. The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first on is focused on a legislative documents covering mergers in the European Union. The second chapter deals with legislation related to mergers in Belarus, focusing more on accounting area. The last chapter of the thesis is practical and describes two case studies of mergers in Belarus, one from the public sector and one from the private sector. The conclusion includes the assessment of the practical part, a comparative analysis of the difference in the process of mergers in Belarus and Europe, peculiarities of the process of mergers in Belarus and overall assessment of the aims of work. In conclusion there are some proposals that may help to increase the transparency of the situation in Belarus and to contribute to the harmonization of the national legislation with internationally accepted principles and procedures.

The Master s thesis presents and summarizes problematic areas of the Czech legislation related to the occupational relations with a foreign subject. Essential literature used for this purpose were Employment of foreigners and sending employees and self-employed abroad. 2nd update. ed. written by P. Boušková and International employment, posting and hiring workers, 1st edition, written by L. Rytířová and J. Teperové. However it was necessary to draw on bilateral agreements and legislation, both Czech and international. The content has been structured into five main chapters, the first one is devoted to the legal regulation of occupational relations with a foreign subject, the second chapter contains analysis of labor migration and its problems. The third and fourth delineated a structure of employment and social security. Final chapter is devoted to the migration of Czech citizens abroad. The various major chapters have been divided into subchapters which followed the different parts of the main topic in detail.

Development of accounting in Slovakia

The bachelor's thesis is focused on the theme of development of accounting in Slovakia. The thesis is divided into four main chapters. The aim of the first chapter is to define the complex accounting system and provide the basic understanding of this area. The second part chronologically describes the historical process of formation and development of accounting system in generally. It is also devoted to important milestones in the evolution of Slovak accounting legislation, which is terminated by summary of currently valid legal standards. The third chapter follows the topic and it focuses on the international harmonization within the European Community. The last and final section deals with practical view on accounting. It shows accounting statements requirements and changes in legislation following the implementation of EU Council Directive. These changes are attributed to the harmonization process, which the Slovak republic is a part of.

Corporate reorganization under the US bankruptcy laws and accounting standards

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the process of reorganization under the US laws and accounting standards. The first chapter contains legislation, description of the parties and their role during the insolvency proceedings. It covers the role of the debtor, creditors, creditors' committee, insolvency trustee and insolvency court throughout the insolvency proceedings. The second part focuses on accounting under US GAAP based primarily on the ASC 852, which describes in detail the cases and items that are treated differently during the reorganization. The third part includes legal and accounting analysis of the American paper company NewPage Holdings Inc., which successfully emerged from bancruptcy in 2012.
