Loneliness
Kalhousová Pernicová, Zuzana ; Franta, Jiří (referee) ; Rathouský, Luděk (advisor)
Theme of loneliness generates in most of us negative feelings of fear and emptiness, while rarely on Loneliness, is regarded as positive, life takes effect. The actual problem is a taboo, hides in the background of the more popular social topics, so we usually lack information that would allow us to approach him other than "emotional" attitude. However, it is linked to a number of fundamental questions, whether by death, the awareness of one's own being, and as a result, it is also about taking responsibility for himself and perception of normality, individuality and conformity. For this reason, I believe that the relationship that we create to loneliness, forms then our relationship to ourselves, our close relationship and subsequently the functioning of the whole society.

Multipurpose Town House on Křížová Street, Brno
Bohumel, Martin ; Havlíček, Tomáš (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
Mixed-use house at Křížová Street The project of mixed-use house located in the district of Old Brno is based on its location and its specific plot, situated between two street corners, at the end of the future pedestrian-only street, in direct contact with busy Mendel square. The house as a whole is enclosing eastern side of the street and with two breaks of the façade reacts to the gentle curve of the street on the other side. At the same time, these breaks of the façade acts as dividing elements, which help to create more subtle feeling of the otherwise long building. One of these breaks continues all the way through the house to the back and creates a cut, which allows a view to the inner courtyard, where a historical brick chimney is situated. This visual connection is at the same time also a metaphorical connection to the history of the location. The cut also serves as a main access for the residential areas in the upper floors and gives the inhabitants the opportunity to enter their homes through a dignified and representative space. Functionally, the house is divided into commercial spaces on the ground level, residential upper floors and parking in the basement.

Analysis of legalizing financial compensation on the kidney market: Iranian case and its application on the Czech Republic during 2006-2015
Cachnín, Patrik ; Procházka, Pavel (advisor) ; Barák, Vladimír (referee)
The bachelor's thesis deals with the Iranian system of kidney trade, whose de facto legalization in 1988 allows to analyze important aspects of this solution to the shortage of kidneys. The Iranian case has not confirmed the common concern of opponents of the monetary compensations for the kidney donation about displacement of the altruistic and cadaveric donors after the sale legalization. The work also refuses the hypothesis which states that market legalization puts poor patients at a disadvantage and favours the rich patients. The Iranian case documents improvement of the situation for all patients. Application of the Iranian system to the Czech Republic is carried out in the main part of the work, and the impact of the introduction of the system with legalized monetary compensations on the expenses in the health care system in the years 2006-2015 is calculated via the cost-benefit analysis. The result is a positive balance of the total amount CZK 4.2-5.1 billion in favour of introducing this system.

Czech Republic and the optimum currency area criteria
Kadlecová, Pavlína ; Plchová, Božena (advisor) ; Kopecký, Jan (referee)
The goal of this bachelor thesis is to use the theory of optimum currency area to assess whether the Czech Republic is prepared to enter the Eurozone. Comparing the costs and benefits of monetary integration, this theory establishes economic and political criteria that should be met by the participating countries in order to assure that giving up the possibility to devaluate currency is still beneficial. In terms of labor mobility, the Czech Republic is far behind the Eurozone's average, but the future prospects remain positive. The degree of production diversification does not speak in favour of an early adoption of the euro either. Czech industry is too dependent on the machinery sector, which translates into a significant risk of asymmetric shocks. On the other hand, the Czech Republic performs better than most euro countries with regard to the degree of economic openness. Strong business links with Germany reduce the effectiveness of currency devaluation, making the Czech Republic a good candidate to enter the EMU. For such ambiguous cases, the theory recommends creating a system of fiscal transfers, which would allow countries to compensate for the negative effects of economic shocks. Consequently, the best approach for the Czech Republic seems to be achieving stronger real convergence and deeper political integration.

Language and individuality. Some remarks on comparing Wittgenstein with Husserl and Heidegger
Beran, Ondřej ; Peregrin, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Kouba, Pavel (referee) ; Glombíček, Petr (referee)
The work compares Wittgenstein with Husserl and Heidegger (or more generally: analytical and continental philosophy), but its character is rather systematic, as it treats the question of the relation among language, intersubjectivity and individuality. Husserl and Wittgensten show that our experience of the world (world as we know it) is always our experience of the world ("the world as it is for us"), that this experience is essentially intersubjective, and that intersubjectivity is essentially linguistic. The shape of the experience of the world is not arbitrary, but it cannot be based "realistically" on the "objective" world, at most it can be founded "from inside", pragmatically. The primarily pragmatic nature of our experience allows its variation (a plausible form of relativism), and on the other hand it makes it problematic to try to set the purpose of the experience beyond its limits (an absolute teleology of history). It is also shown that Husserl's conception, setting the non-linguistic life of the consciousness "before" language and individual subjectivity "before" intersubjectivity, faces certain problems, or that we cannot conceive phenomena of thought (psychic life) and individuality, as we usually understand them, this way. Heidegger agrees with Wittgenstein in the point that language is...

Raman tweezers: principle and applications
Bernatová, Silvie ; Samek, Ota ; Pilát, Zdeněk ; Ježek, Jan ; Kaňka, Jan ; Šiler, Martin ; Zemánek, Pavel
Raman tweezers combines the optical trap for non-contact micromanipulation of micro-objects with Raman spectroscopy for chemical analysis of the sample. This combination presents an efficient tool for concurrent spectroscopic analysis of chemical composition and micromanipulation allowing sorting or probing of mechanical properties of the sample. Raman tweezers were successfully used for example in characterization of biomolecules like DNA, for sorting of cells and investigation of the link between their chemical and mechanical properties.

The rise and fall of New Labour : a political ideology or just a trend?
Kopecká, Hana ; Rovná, Lenka (advisor) ; Váška, Jan (referee)
The Diploma thesis "The Rise and Fall of New Labour: A Political Ideology or a Just a Trend?" focuses on the analysis of a British political course called New Labour. The research focuses on internal and external factors that had allowed this ideology to dominate the British politics over the last 13 years under the established brand of Labour Party. This thesis constitutes a comparative case study, based on the theoretical assumption of time, as well as economic and social constrains of the New Labour phenomenon. The circumstances which back in 1997 allowed the election triumph of New Labour, are often similar to those, that let to its decline a decade later, amid the new social, economic and political climate, caused its decline. This hypothesis is confronted with a secondary research based on the evaluation of broader economic, social and political influences. While the study has proved the validity of the New Labour idea in times of favorable economic and political circumstances, such as the combination of divided opposition and economic boom, it has also shown its failure in the times of economic downturn. Although the vision of New Labour was rejected by the current Labour Party, research and the governing coalition prove that the ideology can successfully operate in combination with...
