Democracy or Republic? The Critique of the Liberal Democracy in the Discourse of the Contemporary Polish Republicanism
Ruczaj, Maciej ; Mlejnek, Josef (advisor) ; Kubát, Michal (referee)
Poland in the recent years has undergone a turbulent debate concerning the fundamental principles of the country's liberal-democratic regime. It was acelerated by the crisis of the Polish post-communist government (2003-2005) and a subsequent period of the domination of the conservative right (2005-2007) which attempted to re-define the paradigm of Polish politics valid since 1989. This intended conservative revolution was symblically expressed in the idea of the transition from the 3rd to 4th Polish Republic. The diploma thesis Democracy or Republic? traces the genealogy and precepts of one of the most influntial currents in the formation of the 4th Republic discourse, defined as "Polish neo-republicanism". The thesis concentrates upon the main themes of the neo-republican discourse (politics of remembrance, relation between tradition and modernization, subjectivity of the body politic) which constitute not only a critique of the state of Polish postcommunist democracy, but also a more general corrective to the prevailing interpretations of the liberal democratic ethos. Kadavá, Eva ; Zeman, Jiří (advisor) ; Filipová, Alena (referee)
Thanks to the ever increasing volume of international trade, increasing globalization, rapid technological progress and improved communication, Consumer Protection has become one of the key themes of contemporary society. The aim of this work is to compare the system of consumer protection in the Czech Republic and Great Britain. To achieve this objective, I have divided the work into two parts. The first part relates to consumer protection in the Czech Republic. Here the reader is first acquainted with basic concepts regarding consumer protection. This is followed by a brief history on the development of consumer protection in the Czech Republic from the 16th to late 20th century. In the next section I have outlined the current consumer protection legislation in the Czech Republic with an indication of the most important laws. At the end I have listed on one hand, government organizations that deal with consumer protection and ensure compliance with laws, on the other, the independent consumer organizations whose job is to represent consumer interests. In the second part I deal with consumer protection in the UK. This is done in the same structure as the first. Finally, I have concluded with a comparison of consumer protection in the two countries.

Rajhrad Altarpiece
Špinková, Tereza ; Ottová, Michaela (advisor) ; Nespěšná Hamsíková, Magdaléna (referee)
English Summary: Rajhrad Altarpiece Rajhrad Altarpiece was made by bohemian painter in the first half of the fifteen century. To this day, it has been preserved six panels - two of them have been created for the width and they deal with the theme of Crucifixion and Christ Carrying the Cross. Other panels are composed for the height and they talked about the Last Supper, Prayer on the Mount of Olives and Resurrection. The last painting concerns about the Finding and Verification of Saint Cross. The altarpiece used to be dated around 1415-1430. Nowadays, Milena Bartlová, following the new archive material (which was discovered by Bohumil Zlámal, Ivo Hlobil a Kateřina Engstová), has changed the previous opinion. She moves the origin of the altarpiece towards the year 1452 and she suppose that the panels were originally intended for the church of St. Mauritz in Olomouc. Other explorers date these paintings by the year 1440. The author of Rajhrad Altarpiece came from the precedent style of painting which was characterized by the lyric moments, complicated draperies and far-away kind of faces. The artist completes this scheme by the interest in the action, structure of place and here and there, he is concerned in individual portraits. He is supposed to have seen this kind of "realistic" motives in the illuminated...

The fourth chapter is focused on gerontological didactics. The fifth chapter defines the concept of lifelong learning. Novák, Arnošt ; Rynda, Ivan (advisor) ; Ortová, Jitka (referee)
The thesis presents comparative analyse of two streams of radical ecology - social and deep. This comparative study uses the hermeneutic method to select essential themes of the dispute between social and deep ecology. The essential themes are: the concept of nature, racioniality, the causes of ecological problems, the vision of environment as garden or wilderness, overpopulation and the ecological policy in action. The result of this comparative analyses is that synthesis of social and deep ecology isn't possible because of fundamental dissagreement. Despite this the discussion between both ecologies is needed. The social and deep ecology grow close by the critics of contemporary capitalistic and industrial society and awareness of necessary change.
