My intention to devote oneself to write about prosaic writing by Ljudmila Ulickaja arose, when I wrote her fiction Meoea u ee oemu. Pharmacoeconomic and Pharmacoepidemiology Aspects of Allergy Rhinitis Treatment and Prevention
Pokladníková, Jitka ; Vlček, Jiří (advisor) ; Švihovec, Jan (referee) ; Beran, Jiří (referee)
7 SUMMARY Rational pharmacotherapy should ensure a safe and cost-effective treatment of patients with allergic rhinitis (AR). Two main aspects of treatment of AR were addressed (1) comparative benefits and costs of subcutaneous and sublingual allergen immunotherapy in patients with allergic rhinitis, and (2) systemic adverse events - neuropsychiatric disorders and gynaecomastia - during intranasal corticosteroid use. (1) Allergen specific immunotherapy: benefits and costs  Our pharmacoeconomic study on allergen specific immunotherapy showed that sublingual and subcutaneous immunotherapy reduced clinical symptoms and the need for symptomatic medication in adults with grass pollen induced rhinoconjunctivitis compared to standard pharmacological treatment. The clinical efficacy of the sublingual and subcutaneous immunotherapy was not significantly different in the third year of specific immunotherapy. Nevertheless, the SCIT group exhibited slightly better improvement in visual analogue scale and a greater reduction of systemic antihistamines versus SLIT in the third year compared to the baseline year. Overall, SLIT showed a better cost profile from all three perspectives. SCIT was financially favorable from a patient perspective where no loss of income and travel costs were present. Larger comparative studies...

The role of nest in reproduction of the Great Reed Warbler
Jelínek, Václav ; Procházka, Petr (advisor) ; Krist, Miloš (referee) ; Trnka, Alfréd (referee)
7 Abstract Bird nests protect eggs and nestlings, allowing the parents to leave their offspring and subsequently return to them. Their thermoregulatory properties reduce energetic costs of incubation and brooding of nestlings. For all these reasons, nests are key structures for the reproduction of a majority of avian species and as such they should be subject to natural selection. Several hypotheses describing selection pressures which affect the size of nests or some of their parts have been suggested. In my PhD thesis, I investigated some of them in the great reed warbler (Acrocephalus arundinaceus) - an open nesting passerine species with very variable nest size. For this purpose, I used a large dataset of several hundred measured great reed warbler nests, nest enlargement experiments and an experiment with artificial nests. In accordance with previous studies, we did not find that nest size affects the probability of common cuckoo (Cuculus canorus) brood parasitism, while it was influenced by other factors, such as timing of breeding, reed density around the nest and nest visibility from the nearest potential cuckoo perch site. More interestingly, we found that cuckoos adjust their nest-searching strategy in relation to availability of host nests. When host nests were scarce, cuckoos parasitized all of...

The reflection of the change in providing of social welfare benefits for persons with disabilities from the perspective of the beneficiary
FRYCOVÁ, Lucie
The bachelor thesis "The reflection of the change in providing of social welfare benefits for persons with disabilities from the perspective of the beneficiary" focuses on persons with disabilities and on the system which helps to reduce the impact of their disabilities and supports them to integrate into society. In the theoretical part of this thesis, the term disability is defined in various ways, especially from the perspective of the legislation in Czech Republic and from the perspective of international legal documents. The classification of disabilities and other related terms are also defined. Additionally this part of the thesis defines the basic necessities of life. Furthermore it describes the social welfare system in Czech Republic and the various ways of classification of the resulting social welfare benefits. Finally, the past and present legal frame that regulates the providing of welfare benefits for persons with disabilities is defined. The practical part is based on the qualitative research. For the purpose of the research the interviewing method was used, namely the in-depth interview. The respondents were chosen by purposive sampling technique. The collected data was evaluated by the method of open coding. The main goal of this thesis was to discover how the beneficiaries of social welfare benefits for persons with disabilities perceive the change in providing of social welfare benefits for persons with disabilities. The goal has been achieved by answering the research question: "Does the new system of social welfare benefits for persons with disabilities saturate with the basic social needs of persons with disabilities?" The intermediate goals of this thesis were the analysis of the social welfare benefits for persons with disabilities, which were implemented in 2011 and 2012 and a survey on the opinion of the beneficiaries of the social welfare benefits for persons with disabilities on the social welfare system in the field of social welfare benefits for persons with disabilities. By evaluating the collected data during the semi-structured, in-depth interviews, it was discovered that the respondents are not satisfied with the amount of the mobility allowance and with the receipt obligation of the "sKarta". Not only the amount of the mobility allowance, which doesn?t cover the whole transport costs, was described as inadequate, but also the unified amount and cancellation of any possible increase of the amount. The research also shows that the previous payment method, via postal order or current account, is preferred by the respondents. The disadvantages of the current system are seen in the insufficient financial support for persons taking care of a person with disabilities in home environment and in the amount of the mobility allowance mentioned above. Although the system is criticized for the insufficient financial support, it offers advantages, the special-requisite allowance for buying a vehicle being one mentioned. In general, it can be said that the respondents don´t have much awareness of the new system of providing social welfare benefits for persons with disabilities. This can be caused on the one hand, that they didn´t apply for welfare benefits since 2012, except for the mobility allowance, and on the other hand by the poor campaign of the responsible authorities. This bachelor thesis looks at a currently much discussed topic and offers a perspective from one of the groups of people for whom the help is intended, namely parents of persons with disabilities. It captures their reactions and opinions on the change that occurred in 2012 and on the help resulting from the system of social welfare. This thesis can be used to reflect upon the current system of providing of social welfare benefits for persons with disabilities and as a basis for potential improvement of this system.

Cost-Benefit analysis of Public Projects
Paleček, Václav ; Toth, Petr (advisor) ; Jílek, Petr (referee)
Public projects are still subject of heated discussions, especially with the respect to their efficiency that is usually not sufficient enough. In spite of existence of many ways how to increase their efficiency, it is readily possible to identify one fundamental criterion which is high-quality information for decision-making. It is important to deliver high-quality information to those who make decision in order to reduce wastage of the public funds on not efficient public projects. All substantial information about effects incurred by project's realization can be offered by the Cost-Benefit analysis. The Cost Benefit analysis should be prepared for each significant public project to prevent from realization of ineffective ones. It is essential to process each Cost-Benefit analysis in required qualitative level for making right decision. Purpose of this thesis is appraisal of usefulness of the Cost-Benefit analysis for specific purposes of the public sector and assessment of indexes used in the Analysis. In the thesis will be introduced public projects, related public sector and evaluation of public projects. Subsequently, the Cost-Benefit analysis itself will be presented as well as steps for processing high-quality Cost-Benefit analysis. The emphasis will be focused at discount rate and its determination, since I consider it as the critical issue of the Cost-Benefit analysis. A practical example of the Cost-Benefit analysis will be presented at the end of this thesis.
