Timpani technique by Fred D. Hinger
Zhdanovich, Anton ; MIKOLÁŠEK, Daniel (advisor) ; Holub, Petr (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on contemporary problems of primarily orchestral timpani playing. In this thesis, I tried to explain, why a timpani player is often unable to reach the desired quality of sound and tone of the instrument, which make it impossible to reach the right musical character in the context of that particular musical piece. The goal of this work is to enrich the Czech school of timpani playing and to contribute to the growth of interpretation abilities of beginning and intermediate timpani players. Another goal is to show a different tradition of kettledrum playing with all its details. I focused on the practical side of the instrument playing and I describe the methods and the process of solving technical and musical problems of interpreters in this paper. The character of this thesis is completely practical and focuses on the description of one of the many other world traditions of timpani playing.

Aplication of magnetic susceptibility in study of soil pollution
Surmová, Petra ; Mihaljevič, Martin (advisor) ; Nováková, Tereza (referee)
The aim of this thesis is briefly summarize the application of magnetic susceptibility in study of soil pollution. The manuscript is based on scientific articles focusing on the above mentioned subject. In each chapter I deal with magnetic properties of rocks and minerals, in particular the magnetic susceptibility. Magnetic susceptibility in a weak magnetic field is one of the most important parameters, which indicates a change in the concentration of ferimagnetics in soils and sediments (Kapička et al., 2004). Main magnetic minerals are described with respect to their occurrence in soils and anthropogenic origin. Both field and laboratory instruments for the measurement of magnetic susceptibility are also described. In the final chapter I deal with two case studies, where magnetic susceptibility measurements were used in environmental study. I compare two different geographical areas in terms of pollution, relatively clean Krkonoše Mountains National Park and industrially polluted Upper Silesia. Keywords: antropogenic ferimagnetics, magnetic susceptibility, magnetic minerals

The Question of Origins of Value in Naturalistic Philosophy of Irving Singer
Hlávka, Jan ; Dadejík, Ondřej (advisor) ; Zuska, Vlastimil (referee)
Irving Singer's theory of value declares itself a member of american naturalistic and pragmatic tradition. It refuses metaphysical speculation on behalf of empirism and stresses the processual character of every experience, focusing more on its imaginatively-affective rather than rational part. Singer distinguishes two basic types of valuation: appriciation of an object, seen as an instrument for a given function, and spontaneous bestowal of value, which values the object on the basis of its own qualities - generating an affective attachement in the process. In a healthy organism, both ought to cooperate to support the fullness of life-in-the-world. Their harmonization is a matter of aesthetics as recognized in the case of love or works of art. This thesis criticizes Singer's project from its own point of view - the american naturalism. In the first chapter, it describes closely Singer's point-of-departure and places it within historical tradition. The matter of the "intrinsic value controversy" is drawn here as well. Following two chapters probe into the pillars of Singer's systém - the conceptions of appriciation, bestowal, imagination and idealization. In comparison with the doctrines of John Dewey, George Santayana and christian situational ethics, fundamentally eclectical character of Singer's...

Subsequently, based on three questionnaire surveys (two of them have representative character), is researched the incidence of individualism and non-clinical narcissism in the Czech population as well as the interaction between these two phenomena. Orff's Schulwerk in the Preparation Process of Children's Choirs
