Résumé Land Property, Courts and Residences of Prague Bishopric in the Time of Thobias of Bechyně The institution of Prague Bishopric has owned quite large land property since the beginnig; it growned during the time, and by the end of 13th century Prague bishops, with their own courts and showy mansions, belonged to the greatest landlords. The land property was scattered all over the whole diocese. Economic yields from several farms were concentreted in central points of each territory. This central points were also administration, ecclesiastic and cultural centres; some of them had as early as in the middle of the 13th century the status ot the city. In general, wooden or stone stronghold, in some cases a castle, and a church were present; the market privilege was as well essential. Important roads often crossed these places; mills and inns are mentioned. At the end of the 13th century, during the episcopate of Thobias of Bechyně, Bohemia suffered from great distress caused by the civil war. The property of the Church was particulary subjected to destructive invaders, and even the bishopric's property was considerably damaged, despite all protective efforts of bishop Thobias. Thus when the peace had been again restored, thorough repair was necessary. Thobias's forms book and a fragment of a land census...

Junek, David ; Konečný, Lubomír (advisor) ; Macek, Petr (referee)
The houses doors and gates belong to discreet, but very significant monuments. There were more than 12 joineries in Polička, where 85 carved gates and doors were made during the period 40 - 80 years in 19th century and they were unique in whole Czech republic. 35 of them have preserved. Classicism appeared in Bohemia during the reign of kaiser Joseph II. (1780 - 1790) and it entered to Polička in 1841, when the buildings of schools for boys were built and faded until the eighties. Ulrychová, Michala ; Haluzík, Radovan (advisor) ; Lhota, Stanislav (referee)
Great Cormorant belongs to those animal species, whose feeding habits are in conflict with economic interests of humans. As predator feeding entirely on fish, Great Cormorants in Europe had been nearly hunted to extinction in the past and therefore classified as endangered species in 20th century. Because of conservation efforts and other positive factors involved, its numbers increased unprecedented and its distribution expanded across all Europe. From the early eighties ideal conditions for breeding were found also in Trebonsko Protected Land Area (PLA) in Southern Bohemia. Trebonsko is not only PLA but has been also known as center of Czech pond culture for many centuries. Appearance of Great Cormorant stirred up conflict between conservationist and fishermen, who suffered a financial loss. Purpose of this work was to approach background of this conflict and to present attitudes and opinions of all concerned parties. The study starded with media search and a set of questionnaires was completed by different groups as professional fishermen, conservationist, game fishermen, local citizens and tourists visiting the PLA. Czech baroque coronations
Hrbek, Jiří ; Maur, Eduard (advisor) ; Hojda, Zdeněk (referee)
The Bohemian coronations in the baroque period certainly ranked among the most significant politi cal events in the entire Habsburg monarchy in the 17th and 18th centuries. In my study, I tried to compare the coronations of Ferdinand III. (1627), of his two sons Ferdinand IV. (1646) and Leopold I. (1656) and of Leopolďs son Charles Vl. (1723). I discussed four spheres, in which we can see these events. The first one was the political sphere: after the battle on the White Mountain, Bohemia became a hereditary monarchy, so it was never more necessary for Habsburgs to deal with the Bohemian estates, when the son of the King should be coronated. But the vote of the new king was only one limitation of the King's power, another limitations, which originated from the early modem political philosophy, continued further in the baroque period. There was no responsibility to the estates, but King was responsible to the God and to this effect he took an oath during the coronation mass before the unction. When the archbishop of Prague as a consecrator was pouring the holy oil with balsam ( chrisma) on the head of the King, he received the Goď s Grace like the jewish kings of the Old Testament (David, Salomon). The coronation connected the politics with the religion and only after the unction the King could receive the...

Radová, Irena ; Vachková, Eva (advisor) ; Kutnohorská, Jana (referee)
Key words: Middle Ages, 13th century, guardianship, religious orders, the woman in the Middle Ages, St. Agnes of Bohemia, St. Zdislava of Lemberk, nun This bachelor's thesis deals with the beginning of guardianship in the Czech lands in the 13th century, the standing of women in the Middle Ages and important women in the history of guardianship, above all Zdislava of Lemberk and Agnes of Bohemia. It maps their fates, work and legacy for the future. It also compares the life of both female saints with the way of life of a nun nowadays. In this context, the thesis also provides an overview of religious orders which devoted their work to charity and care for the ill in the 13th century. It tries to uncover the common and differing traits of medieval guardianship with the current concept of nursing care. The focal point of the thesis is made up of qualitative research, which uncovers the period problems in contrast with the present day. The benefit of this thesis should be to find differences and common traits in care for the ill at that time and today and the legacy left to us by the 13th century. It should also serve as a reminder of the wealth of history of the nursing profession and to increase the prestige and pride they themselves have in their career.
