Numerical solution of convection-diffusion equations with the aid of adaptive time-space higher order methods
Kůs, Pavel ; Felcman, Jiří (referee) ; Dolejší, Vít (advisor)
This thesis deals with solution of scalar nonlinear convection-diffusion equation with aid of discontinuous Galerkin method. It's aim is to implement an adaptive choice of time step. To do this, we derived 2 sufficiently stable methods for solution of systems of ordinary differential equations obtained by space semidicretization, which is carried out by the discontinuous Galerkin method. Using those two approximate solutions, we estimate local error of discretization. Using it, we are able to choose following time step in such way, that local error is approximately equal to given tolerance. Several numerical simulations were carried out to check properties of this method.

Changes in the Lifestyle of Senior Citizen in Relation to Used Social Services of Changes in the lifestyle of senior citizens in relation to used social services of "Day Care"
KŘÍHOVÁ, Dana
This diploma paper deals with the changes in the lifestyle of senior citizens in relation to used social services of ``Day Care{\crq}q. At the present time, demographic survey findings show that the number of senior citizens is growing. This trend goes hand in hand with the issue of housing senior citizens that is seen as pressing. Naturally, every senior person sees a home as a place where they live. However, there are sometimes situations when the health state of a senior person does not allow them to live in their natural environment any longer and their family are not able, cannot or even do not want to look after them. There is a pressing need to move such a person to a different facility where they find all necessary care. One of many housing options can be seen in living at a day-care house. Clients find necessary services here that help them to remain self-reliant, be it partly, as long as possible. The objective of the paper was to find out about the changes that take place in the lifestyle of senior citizens after moving them to a day-care house, about the reasons of moving and, last but not least, about the use of the social service on offer. A qualitative research mode was adopted to acquire the results, in particular the method of controlled interview and clients{\crq} case reports. A secondary analysis of data from clients{\crq} social documentation was used to complement the research. The research was carried out with nine respondents chosen at random at three day-care houses in the region of České Budějovice operated by company Ledax o.p.s. The interviews were based on a list of questions and topics prepared in advance. The basic criterion chosen was a satisfactory health and mental state of the respondents enabling the interviews to take place. The responses obtained through the research interviews show the senior citizens are happier in their new dwellings and they perceive their move to a day-care house positively. Based on the research, I presume that the set objectives have been met. The diploma paper can be used to deepen the informedness of other senior citizens and the members of their families of housing options and the use of social services in day-care houses. This paper may be used as feedback for staff at day-care houses in relation to their clients{\crq} satisfaction with offered social services.

Tools for generating and editing of 2D terrain
Mocný, Ondřej ; Sýkora, Ondřej (advisor) ; Plch, Tomáš (referee)
Unity is a game development tool with large userbase. One of the features it is missing, however, is a deeper support for the development of two dimensional games. In particular a tool for editing and generation of two dimensional terrain. The aim of the presented work is to design and develop this tool. First, the problem is analysed and a set of requirements is assembled. Then, the Unity development environment is described in order to be able to use it for implementing the tool. The tool is designed from the programmer's point of view and data representation inside Unity is proposed. Large part of the work is also devoted to describing different algorithms used for terrain generation. Finally, the user interface of the program is designed using the knowledge gained by studying Unity.

Atmospheric characteristics of white dwarfs
Krejčová, Kateřina ; Kawka, Adéla (advisor) ; Mayer, Pavel (referee)
We have analyzed the ultraviolet spectra of 40 hydrogen-rich (DA) white dwarfs. These spectra have been obtained with the Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer (FUSE) satellite and are publicly available via the MAST FUSE database. We derived the effective temperature and surface gravity by fitting the hydrogen Lyman spectral lines with model spectra. By applying white dwarf evolutionary models, we were able to determine the white dwarf mass, cooling age and absolute magnitude. These then allowed us to determine the distance to each star and its predicted gravitational redshift. We have identified several chemical elements in the white dwarf spectra. We determined the abundances of C, Si, P and S by measuring the equivalent widths of selected lines of these elements. Finally, we studied the spectra of J0623-376 and LM Com in more detail.

Czech Population´s Opinion of Foreigners´ Immigration to the Czech Republic.
PACHLOVÁ, Radka
The Bachelor's thesis deals with the opinions of the Czech population of the foreigners' immigration to the Czech Republic. This subject matter attacted me especially because migration has always been an up-to-date topic. This phenomenon influences almost everybody, whether it concerns the migration inside one country or among countries. Although migration has existed all the human history long, the Cyech Republic has been facing this problem since 1989 after the boundaries had opened. During the last ten years the number of foreigners coming to the Czech Republic has encreased twice. The people leave their homelands from various reasons. Some of them want to escape wars, the others depart from environmental, economic or working reasons. However, the arrival of the immigrants to the host country breeds benefits as well. The national cultures variegate and influence each other, the immigrants fill the vacancies which are not staffed by the locals. It is necessary that the immigrants who come their host country will be integrated. These people are being incorporated into the society, which also brings troubles. The most frequent problems the immigrants meet during their integration are the following. The foreigners cannot speak the language of their host country, they are not able to find job, they cannot find accommodation. There is also prejudice of the majority that obstructs good relations of the minorities with the majority society. The aim of this thesis was to find out what are the views of the Czech society to the foreigners' immigration and what is its attitude to their integration. In relation with these aims I set down hypotheses which were checked through a quantitative research by means of the interviewing method and by means of questionnaires. The practical part of the thesis results in the finding that the foreigners who are comming to the Czech Republic are perceived rather negatively. Nevertheles, some people mean that the migration can be beneficial as well. Most of the interviewed people know a foreigner personally and their relations are mostly good. In my thesis, I come to a conclusion that the Czech citizens prefer cultural diversity above all. Based on information collected from the research part of this thesis, I suppose there should be organised more workshops alongside with discussions to improve public awareness of life and habits of people coming from different cultural background.

Preparing student teachers for constructivist teaching about society in primary grades
Dvořáková, Michaela ; Spilková, Vladimíra (advisor) ; Stará, Jana (referee) ; Brtnová Čepičková, Ivana (referee)
Preparing student teachers for constructivist teaching about society in primary grades Michaela Dvořáková Abstract The content of primary social studies could be described as cultural universals - domains of human existence that form part of everybody's experience. Despite that, children do need a skilled instruction helping them to elaborate these topics. We suppose that for the constructivist teachers, deep content knowledge and pedagogic content knowledge is necessary to elaborate and conceptualize children's experiences. In this thesis, we wanted to learn more about the knowledge base of pre-service teachers. To explore the education students' content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge of social studies topics, we elicited students' concepts related to the topic of family using concept mapping. Then we performed the content analysis of the obtained concepts. We tried to determine whether pre-service teachers rely on their prior knowledge (including misconceptions) of family or whether they use the knowledge gained in social science classes at the high school or at our university. Students do not use their academic knowledge gained in social studies classes spontaneously, but they are able to do when prompted. An important part of pedagogical content knowledge of a social studies teacher are the...

Integration of children with autism into school
MATASOVÁ, Kateřina
Integration of children with autism into school I use the theoretic part of my Bachelor thesis to define the symptoms and partial syndromes of the autistic spectrum on the base of professional literature. Further I focus on the concept of integration and on the description of institutions for education of children with autism. At the end of the theoretic part, I state the methods used when working with children with autism. The goal of my thesis is to ascertain how teachers master the education of children with autism, what obstacles and positives they see in it. I see the following research questions: {$\bullet$} what are the goal of education of children with an autistic spectrum disorder from the teacher{\crq}s point of view {$\bullet$} what needs do children with autistic spectrum disorder have from the teacher{\crq}s point of view {$\bullet$} how the teachers cope with their work The research part of my Bachelor thesis is processed on the base of the information obtained in from of interviews and observation. It is qualitative research using the questioning and observation method and the technique of data collection with the help of structured interview. The research set consists of teachers of elementary, special and practical schools of České Budějovice working with children with autistic spectrum disorder. The interview was made with three class-teachers, three teacher assistants and one personal assistant. The research took place at four different schools; I visitek two elementary schools and two special elementary schools. I received the contacts to schools where pupils with autistic spectrum disorders are integrated from the Special Pedagogical Centre of České Budějovice. I come to the conclusion that all the questioned teachers are interested in the issue of autism; they are able to define, on the base of their knowledge, the goals of education of their pupils and to meet their needs in classes in most cases. They admit that the work with a child suffering from an autistic spectrum disorder is more demanding but they take it as integral part of their work. I think that the way of the teachers` mastering the education of children with autism depends on their knowledge and possibilities of full use of their knowledge in practice. The teacher see the cooperation with family as a great positive of their work; they depend on the information from the parents. The parents` interest can be motivating for further work of the techers; therefore I consider such cooperation indispensable. I think it would be appropriate to have all parents informed about the workshops and meetings organized especially by the Pedagogical Centre or possibly to organize such meetings regularly within each classe. The only obstacle to successful education of children with autism is their handicap itself from which all the above stated problems result. But, according to the teachers, it is possible to work with every problem, just because they knot what it results from. I think that even that obstacle can be overcome by preventing the possible problems with the help of the family or maybe other professionals.

Data mining from incoming e-mail messages
Šebesta, Jan ; Žemlička, Michal (advisor) ; Kopecký, Michal (referee)
We study possibilities of automatic sorting of incoming e-mails. Our primary goal is to distinguish information about oncoming workshops and conferences, job offers and published books. We are developing mining tool for extracting the information from data originated in profession-specific mailing lists. Offers in the mailing lists come in html, rtf or plain text format. The messages are written in common spoken language. We have developed the system so it will use text mining methods to extract the information and save it structured form. Then we will be able to work with it. We are examining how user handles the mail and apply the knowledge in the development. We solve the problems with obtaining of the messages, distinguishing language and encoding and estimating the type of message. After recognition of the transported information we are able to mine data. In the end we save the mined information to the database, which allows us to display it in well-arranged way, sort and search according to the user needs.

Accounts of knowledge: ageless features?
Poppová, Andrea ; Kučera, Miloš (advisor) ; Klusák, Miroslav (referee)
My dissertation is about friendship and its ageless features. Friendship is a close relationship most often between two people and is characteristic by - mutuality, intimacy: trust, need of closeness, sharing of experience, positive appreciation and unconditional acceptance. Thanks to mutuality are friends able to share various personal experiences, opinions and feelings. Thanks to deeper understanding of both individuals is possible to create functional and satisfying friendship. The friendship among people does exist for long centuries and I would like to show the difference between nowadays and the age of Aristoteles and his point of view. It is a comparison of present respondents, interviews and created map of terms to map of terms created from concept of Aristoteles. My work wants to show that friendship today is actually quite the same as many years ago in the time of Aristoteles. Of course with little changes especially in the area of free time and its spending. Many interesting facts have come from my interviews and they actually match those written by Aristoteles in his famous work Nicomachos' Ethics. After interviews I found out that friendship between respondents is understood like relationship between two people which is intimate-life and death friendship- and essential parts of friendship are...
