The national structure of players of Czech national basketball league since year 1998 and its impact on basketball in the Czech Republic\\
BUBÁK, Jiří
The diploma thesis studies the evolution of the national structure of players in the highest Czech basketball league, the `Extraliga{\crq}, between seasons 1998/1999 and 2008/2009. This research is based on analysis of technical registers from individual games. The author splits the studied sample of players into three groups (Czech players aged 20+, foreign players and Czech players below 20 years of age) and evaluates statistical characteristics by virtue of the comparative method. These include the number of players, minutes played, points scored and a coefficient of usefulness. The results confirm the expected increase of the number of foreign players as well as their continuously growing impact on the game. In contrast to this, the trend of participation and usefulness of Czech players under 20 years is shown to be diminishing. Both the hypotheses of the thesis are therefore proven valid. The presented work further utilizes the analysis of references in several directions, namely it points to existing basketball youth centres in the Czech Republic, warns against the diminishing member base of this sport, highlights the change in trend of evolution of imposed limits on the number of foreign players in Extraliga and finally discusses some of the current issues of Czech basketball.

Regional analysis of circulatory disease mortality in the Czech Republic, Italy and Sweden from the 1980's to the present
Pánek, Jan ; Burcin, Boris (advisor) ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (referee)
Diseases of the circulatory system have long been the most frequent cause of death in the developed world. The aim of this study is to describe and analyze the evolution of mortality from selected diseases of the circulatory system in the Czech Republic, Italy and Sweden from the 1980th to the present with the emphasis on the regional aspects. Its main part consists of analysis of regional differentiation, including international comparisons. Mortality from ischemic heart disease, cerebral vascular disease and atherosclerosis decreased during the reporting period, while mortality from hypertensive diseases increased. Despite the gradual convergence, mortality rates remain distinctly different in selected countries.

Motives and technologies of Gallic and North African mosaics
Ozaňáková, Patrícia ; Musil, Jiří (advisor) ; Ondřejová, Iva (referee)
In my work I want to raise the question of difference between Gallic and North African mosaics. I want to point out that although they born in Italy, developed, each in a different direction. I intend to find out what mosaicists brought into the repertoire and which, in turn, copied. For some religious motifs want to prove not only their stylistic evolution but a shift in thinking and understanding the deity, who is closely linked with its depiction. This work is dealing with the most common motives of Gallic and North African mosaics and its interpretation. The work is divided into three chapters. The first is handling with technologies connected with mosaics. Second chapter is largest. It offers repertoary of North African mosaics. It divides the most common motives into: religion and mytological motives, huntig scenes and the amphitheatre. The end of the second chapter offers conclusions in this topic. Third chapter is dealing with motives of Gallic mosaics. It is dealed with particular examples of mosaics from context of villa suburbana and liking for luxury and mytological scenes. It is delaing with workshops and craftsmen in Gallia. Fourth chapter is dealing with the situation in Hispania and Sicilia. Conclusion offers the comparison of the Gallic and North African mosaics based on motives.

Response of selected rivers of the Bohemian Massif to lithological and structural conditions
Flašar, Jan ; Nývlt, Daniel (advisor) ; Kalvoda, Jan (referee)
Three groups of streams were selected in the area of the Bohemian Massif: the Berounka river with its source streams; the Vltava river with its tributaries the Malše and the Lužnice; the Labe river with its tributaries the Cidlina, the Bystřice and the Javorka. The lithological and tectonical influences to several parameters of the streams were studied. These parameters include: stream gradient, orientation of the stream and sinuosity of the stream. Data were obtained from digital elevation models, aerial photographs, topographical and geological maps. The longitudinal profiles of the streams (in the combination with geological cross-sections), the SL indexes and the gradient/sinuosity graphs were created on the basis of the obtained data. These tools were used for evaluation of the influence of lithology and the tectonics to the streams. The evolution of the streams and the stream-groups was evaluated and compared as well. A strong influence of lithology on the stream gradient was found on most of the analysed streams. The tectonic situation, on the contrary, had strong influence on the orientation of the streams, especially in the resistant rocks. Also, there were selected areas, where was a higher probability of quaternary vertical movements influencing the streams (mountainous areas of the Novohradské...

The following six chapters focus on the financing of churches in different historical periods. The second chapter concentrates on the situation in the Czech lands as part of the Austrian monarchy. There is described the formation and function of religious funds and the introduction of state subsidies to clergy. The third chapter deals with the First Republic, and mainly land reform and its implications for church finances. The fourth chapter deals with the position of the Church during the Second Republic and the Nazi occupation. The next section describes the occupation of church property by the state, I analyze there disputes about the application of the Benes decrees of confiscation of churches property and new land acts. Walloon-Flemish aspect in the national conflict in the Belgian Kingdom
Policar, Martin ; Buben, Radek (advisor) ; Novotný, Oto (referee)
The text is a case study which deals with the theoretical and historical aspects in the dominant conflict in the Belgian kingdom which is the > linguistic cleavage between the Walloons and Flemish. The first part refers to the evolution and development of the Belgian state from the 1830, explicitely after the Second World War till nowadays. The changes of the social strucure such as "verzuilling" and formation of new political parties took place on the background of the linguistic conflicts, which lead into the transition to the so- called Belgian semi-federation. Political parties split into Flemish and Walloon wings and consequently stood in the elections separately. Gradually there was coming up to a decentralisation of power and transfer of power from center towards region. In the 70's and 80's the beginning of the state reforms took place leading towards the fédéralisation of Belgium. Independent executives and councils were set for the regions of Flanders, Walloonia and Brussels as well as for the Flemish, Walloon and German communities. The three-phased state reform was finished in 1992 with the so- called Accord de la St Michel on the full fédéralisation of the state. In the second part of the paper follows the analysis of the theory of consociational democracy by dutch political scientist Arend...

Sociality and ecology in ground squirrels (tribe Marmotini).
Matějů, Jan ; Vohralík, Vladimír (advisor) ; Macholán, Miloš (referee) ; Zima, Jan (referee)
of the Ph.D. thesis Autor: Jan Matějů Name: Sociality and ecology in ground squirrels (tribe Marmotini) Ground-dwelling squirrels are parafyletic group of rodents from the family Sciuridae (tribes Marmotini and Xerini). Ground-dwelling squirrels are semi-fossorial inhabitants of treeless biotopes. They share most aspects of general biology. They usually breed once a year, have exclusively diurnal activity and are omnivorous. On the contrary, ground-dwelling squirrels display different levels of sociality, which makes them an ideal model to study different ecological aspects connected with evolution of sociality. The first part of the Ph.D. thesis is focused on the relationship between sociality and sexual size dimorphism and relative and absolute size of brain. At first, supposing that different levels of sociality are connected with differences in intensity of sexual selection acting on males, we tested association between sociality and sexual size dimorphism as well as association between sexual size dimorphism and body size - so called Rensch rule. Next, we tested correlation between sociality and relative brain size. In agreement with the Social brain hypothesis, we assumed that e.g. solitarily living species should have smaller relative brain size than species living in stable pairs. We found...

Specifics of translation children's literature on the example of translations of selected Croatian and Czech literary works
Danielová, Vendula ; Nedvědová, Milada (referee) ; Otčenášek, Jaroslav (advisor)
The objective of this thesis is to define specific problems of translating for children, based on scientific works of well-known translatologists who deal with translation of children's literature. The specific problems are, for example, the dual audience, visual and acoustic aspect of the literary works, question of censorship, didactic function of the children's literature and other creative problems. These problems are considered when analyzing the translations of chosen Czech works for children, into Croatian. The analytical part of the thesis is the study of the degree to which translators consider these specific problems of translating for children, during the process of translation. Further, the thesis surveys the situation in the field of translation of children's literature between Czech and Croatian, and evaluates the quality of the works chosen for translation, based on comparison of the evolution 4 of the two literary systems. This comparison showed, that there are more children's books translated from Czech into Croatian than in the opposite direction, and that the Czech children's books chosen for translation are of higher literary quality. The books translated from Croatian to Czech are chosen without any concept or conscious effort to enrich Czech literature. The most valuable literary works...

Selected legal aspects of human resources management
Řeháková, Zuzana ; Štefko, Martin (advisor) ; Peřina, Pavel (referee)
SUMMARY: Legal aspects of human resources management At the beginning of the 21st century as much as in the past, the greater part of the population obtains the means for their living through participation in the labour market. Remuneration is not their only motive: people attempt to satisfy other needs such as pursuit of self-fulfilment, establishment of social contacts and overall development of individual personality. Work thus has significant impact on the evolution of society in general. On the level of a business entity, the available human resources, when efficiently organised and managed, can strongly affect the productivity and competitiveness of the venture. To attach sufficient weight to the importance of human resources is a precondition for a successful business. The author of this thesis graduated in Andragogy and Personnel Management and has several years of work experience in the field of personnel management. Because of this, her approach to the subject matter is one of a human resource manager who at the same time advances the interests of the employer and strives to respect and promote the legitimate needs of the employees. This ambivalent position embodies the inherent conflict of labour law - without some level of protection of the employee, as the usually weaker contractual party,...
