Using hierarchical finite automata for behavior-description
Renát, Dušan ; Pergel, Martin (advisor) ; Holan, Tomáš (referee)
In the present work we introduce and study the hierarchical finite state machines as a model of artificial intelligence of autonomous agents in various virtual environments and systems. We define the concept of hierarchical finite state machine formally, analyze its computational power compared to common types of automata and point out the possibilities of increasing it. Then we list the usual methods of artificial intelligence simulation, tell apart the direct and indirect behavioral pattern description and present advantages of hierarchical finite state machines as a tool for the direct form. We propose a library interpreting these automata, created as a part of this work. By demonstrating its usage for controlling an example robot within the Robocode environment, we show that they are generic and viable solution for this kind of settings.

The Depth of Functional Data.
Nagy, Stanislav ; Hlubinka, Daniel (advisor) ; Omelka, Marek (referee)
The depth function (functional) is a modern nonparametric statistical analysis tool for (finite-dimensional) data with lots of practical applications. In the present work we focus on the possibilities of the extension of the depth concept onto a functional data case. In the case of finite-dimensional functional data the isomorphism between the functional space and the finite-dimensional Euclidean space will be utilized in order to introduce the induced functional data depths. A theorem about induced depths' properties will be proven and on several examples the possibilities and restraints of it's practical applications will be shown. Moreover, we describe and demonstrate the advantages and disadvantages of the established depth functionals used in the literature (Fraiman-Muniz depths and band depths). In order to facilitate the outcoming drawbacks of known depths, we propose new, K-band depth based on the inference extension from continuous to smooth functions. Several important properties of the K-band depth will be derived. On a final supervised classification simulation study the reasonability of practical use of the new approach will be shown. As a conclusion, the computational complexity of all presented depth functionals will be compared.

Využití modelových spekter ke stanovení vhodných parametrů kapilárního výboje pro zesílenou emisi Balmerova alfa – přechodu H–like N (13,4 nm)

Our capillary-discharge driver CAPEX-U, as many other pulsed-power devices, requires very accurate triggering of high-voltage gas switch. Laser-triggered switches offer many advantages over electrical triggered ones in terms of reproducibility, reliability, suitability for multi-gap or multi-channel operation and electrical isolation from the main high-voltage pulse. Results on the simultaneous initiation of four-channel high voltage spark gap by a neodymium dopped yttrium aluminium garnet (Nd:YAG, λ=1064 nm) laser are presented. The switch is pressurised with SF6 and N2 and holds off voltage about 500 kV at a gap separation of 13 mm. Electrical parameters of the spark channels are obtained from the comparison of experimental and modelling (equivalent circuit) results.

Steel stuctures
Václavek, L. ; Marek, Pavel
The subject of the paper is a brief discussion on the transition of the reliability assessment of steel structures from the methods applied in the past and in current codes probabilistic methods corresponding to the extensive development of computers reliability theory. Assessment of a simple planar steel frame containing leaning columns serves for demonstration. The potential of probabilistic methods is emphasized.

Grepl, Robert
Modelling of kinematics is one of the basic task related to walking machines. In this paper, we present the buildingof numerical computational forward and inverse kinematic models of bipedal robotic leg. Models are implementedin Matlab/Simulink/SimMechanics environment. All computations are numerical only, so no analytical model isformed. Advantages and disadvantages of such approach are discussed. The role of this way of modelling in wholedesign and development process is also mentioned.

Měkké stíny na GPU
Zápotocký, Boris ; Ambrož, David (referee) ; Pelikán, Josef (advisor)
Huge graphics hardware development and GPU programmability enables higher performance and more flexibility in programming. Many algorithms are now realtime. Very significant role among CG algorithms is held by shadow computation methods. Shadows are essential for human perception, soft shadows are physically correct and computationally consuming. Three major types of algorithms were proposed: projective shadows, shadow maps and shadow volumes. Each of them has advantages and disadvantages. Some of the advanced soft shadowing methods are covered in more detail. Measurements of both quality and performance along with the accompanying demonstrative software enables on the fly familiarization with the mentioned methods.
