The Effect of Exercise Intervention on Physical Fitness and Quality of Life in Patients after Bariatric Surgery

Title: The Effect of Exercise Intervention on Physical Fitness and Quality of Life in Patients after Bariatric Surgery Objectives: The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the effect of a three-month physical intervention on the physical fitness and quality of life in patients after bariatric surgery. Compare the measured values from six-minute walk test (6MWT) and the questionnaire survey of quality of life between the group undergoing exercise program and the group of non-exercise patients. Methods: The diploma thesis was constructed as a quasi-experiment. A six-minute walk test, a visual analogue pain scale, a Borg scale and a standardized IWQOL-Lite questionnaire were used to asses physical fitness and quality of life. The study involved 28 patients (8 undergoing an exercise program, 20 non-excercisers). The groups were measured before the planned bariatric surgery and about 3-4 months after the surgery. For the analysis of final values, the Microsoft Excel and its add-in Realstatistics was used. Results: In patients undergoing the exercise program, the VAS on average decreased of 2,04 cm, 6MWT improved on average of 42,75 m, and quality of life of 34 points. Title: The relationships between motor coordination, fundamental movement skills, physical fitness and body composition of primary school children Author: Bc. Miroslav Navara Thesis supervisor: Mgr. Jakub Kokštejn, Ph.D. Objectives: The aim of this work is to determine the degree of relationships between fundamental movement skills, motor coordination, physical composition and physical fitness in children of younger school age. Methods: The tested group consists of pupils 3-5. primary school classes (n = 109). The TGMD-2 test battery was used to determine the level of motor skills, the KTK test battery was used to determine motor coordination, and the Unifittest test battery (6-60) was used to determine the level of physical fitness and body composition. The Shapiro-Wilk test, Kendall's tau (τ), Kruskal-Wallis test, followed by Bonferroni correction, Man-Whitney U test, was used for data analysis. Results: This study found that the group of children with better results from the KTK test was also significantly better in the TGMD-2 and Unifittest tests (6-60) compared to the group with the lowest results from the KTK test (p <0.01). Measuring physical abilities of students the elementary school

The aim of this diploma thesis was to measure the physical fitness of pupils from selected elementary school in Hradec Králové. From the obtained results iw was determined whether age has an effect on pupils'performance. Futhermore, the results were compared and on the basis of statistical analysis of the data a comparison of performances of 6th and 9th grade pupils and also comparison of boys and girls. The theoretical part focuses on the topics of a healthy lifestyle, physical activity, physical fitness, physical abilities, physiological and psychological specifics in older school children. The empiric part deals with statistical data processing and their evaluation based on the results in selected physical tests from the test battery called EUROFITTEST. Based on the results and their comparison, I came to the conclusion that in six of the total eight exercises, older pupils achieve statistically significant differences compared to younger pupils. When comparing the average results of 6th and 9th grade pupils, I found that in seven out of eight tests, 9th grade pupils achieve better results than 6th grade pupils. Title: Influence of physical intervention on the musculoskeletal system in patients before and after planned bariatric surgery. Objectives: The main objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of three months physical intervention on the development of static postural stability, musculoskeletal pain, health-related quality of life and physical fitness of obese individuals before and after bariatric surgery. Methods: This is a monocentric prospective non-randomized study. The study included 25 patients of both sexes aged 40 to 57 years (BMI 36-49 kg/m2 ). The patients were divided into an intervention and a control group. The intervention group (INT, n = 7; age 48.9 ± 5.6 years; BMI 40.6 ± 5.5 kg/m2 ) underwent a 3-month resistance aerobic exercise program with a frequency of exercises 3 times a week. The control group (KON, n = 18; age 46.8 ± 12.7 years, BMI 44.2 ± 6.4 kg/m2 ) was not subjected to the exercise program. The level of static postural stability, perceived musculoskeletal pain, health-related quality of life and the level of physical fitness in the periods before and 3, 6 and 12 months after bariatric surgery were assessed. A partial goal is to evaluate the methods of estimating body composition and evaluation of test batteries designed to diagnose motor performance of individuals of younger school age. Methods: The work was processed on the basis of research and comparison of domestic and foreign professional literature, which deals with body composition and motor performance. These concepts were identified through content analysis of professional communications, publications and articles. Effects of short-term parkour training programme on selected physical fitness components in adolescents

Title: Effects of short-term parkour training programme on selected components of physical fitness in adolescents Objective: The aim of this work was to assess the influence of parkour on selected components of physical fitness - body composition, muscle fitness, aerobic fitness, flexibility - in a short-term programme. Methods: The ten-week experimental study dealt with the possibilities of using parkour to influence the parameters of physical fitness in boys age 16±2 years (N=10). Subjects went through measurement of bioelectrical analysis of body composition, muscle strength and endurance field tests, cardiopulmonary testing, sit-and-reach test. One-way analysis of variance with repeated measures (ANOVA) was used for statistical analysis. The strength of relationship between dependent and independent variables was expressed as unbiased effect size measure omega squared (ω2 ). Pearson two-tailed correlations were used to determine associations between measured parameters. Results: No significant changes in any body composition variables were observed with the parkour intervention. Title: In-line skating training methodology for the preschool children Objectives: The aim of this work was to create a methodology for teaching inline skating to preschool children, mainly in the form of games. Methods: The literary recherche and the empiricism were used in this thesis. The theoretical part was written based on the literary recherche and contains essential information regarding the in-line skating, history of this sport and information regarding the development regularities in the preschool age. The empiricism and the literary recherche particularly are combined in the practical part. Individual games and exercises were created based on my empiricism obtained during the teaching of the in-line skating of the preschool children. Results: Composition of the simple methodology plan of the in-line skating training in the form of a game. Selected preparatory exercises and games shall the children tackle without major issues. The thesis contains following simple steps - falls, standing up, postures and basics of the ride forward and backward. All these movement skills can be developed in the form of a game. Title: Evaluation of physical fitness, body composition, basic as well as specific game skills of young football players. Objectives: The main aim is to discover the mutual relations between motor performance, basic movement skills and game skills in young football players. At the same time, the aim is to determine the differences in the above-mentioned parameters between junior players and senior players. Methods: The main research method used was observation - measurement and testing. The research group included 38 football players of the FC Hvězda Cheb (18 junior and 20 senior football players). Physical fitness was tested using a standardized Unifittest 6-60 test, gaming skills were tested according to the handbook on the ProFutbalAnalytics.cz website and basic skills were tested using the TGMD-2 test. Results: Significant differences in favor of the senior players were found in all individual tests of physical fitness and game skills. A significant correlation (p <0.01; r = 0.558) between basic movement skills and game skills in the tested players was confirmed. A medium correlation was discovered between physical fitness and gaming skills in the tested players (p <0.05; r = 0.479). Title: Determination of leg tuck performance standards for the needs of the Army of the Czech Republic Goal: The aim of this study is to determinate performance standards for the leg tuck exercise, which is part of the proposal for a new physical examination. Method: Standardized testing was used to determine the performance standards. Subject of 702 soldiers from 3 different units was tested. The 3 units were 44.lmopr Jindřichův Hradec, 25.plrp Strakonice and 14. plogp Pardubice. Soldiers were tested regardless of their age or gender. The aim for every soldier was to perform as much possible repetitions of leg tuck as possible. All this in accordance with predetermined rules. One of the main focuses was to abide the rules of standardized testing, which mostly means to meet the conditions of validity and reliability. The testing took place from January to April 2021. Subsequently, the results were analyzed, and performance standards were set. The results did not meet the normal distribution of data, so the setting of standards using the appropriate statistical methods had to be abandoned.
