Logos in Aristotle's ethics

The aim of the diploma theses "Logos in Aristotle Ethics" is to interpret meaning of the term "logos" in Aristotle's work "Nicomachean Ethics". The basic methodical guideline is the structuralist assumption, that a meaning of a term is determined by its relations to other terms contained within the text, and the related assumption of unity of the meaning of the term "logos". The interpretation itself first analyzes structure of several crucial terms, most importantly the relation of a human individual to the society, the concepts of the good, the reality and the possibility, the true and the illusory, and the concept of the natural. The structure of use of the term "logos" is then analyzed in relation to these concepts. These investigations are completed by analysis of the terms of virtue and action. By the means of the structural analysis of these terms, the existence of a distinctive level of reality is established, which is captured by the term "humanity". The existence of humanity is the central point of interest in Aristotle's ethics. In the horizontal regard, there are two poles of humanity - the individual human and the society. The Principles of Francisco Suarez's Political Power: Suarez's consent in the context of the theory of the social contract developing from 16th until 18th century

The Abstract The meaning of this dissertation thesis is to find out whether we can regard Francisco Suárez as a representative of the social-contracting theories developing in the period from 16th until 18th century. Suárez, who is more likely known for his metaphysical disputations, gives a really sophisticated formulation about the origin of the common society and the political power, where the key point is the word of the social consent. At the first time it seems that Suárez can be without difficulty considered as a modern period humanist like Thomas Hobbes, John Locke or lately Jean-Jacques Rousseau. As well as they, Suárez thinks that the independent human will has its unsubstitutable part in the origin of the political society. Nevertheless there is a large difference. While according to the mentioned humanists, the independent will is the only principle of the political power, Suárez thinks that this will is just the necessary condition meeting the human nature created by the God, that it is the true principle of the whole political power. Changability of human nature in light of a value

This work presents the question whether our nature is changeable and deserves changing in the ethical sense, on the contrast of Kant's moral philosophy with Buddhist thinking. Kant's approach associates morality with pressure on desires (mainly speaking of inclinations - habitual sensuous desires) because it understands sensuality - where it places them - as given. Splitting a human being into reason (standing aside from causality) and sensuality is the cause why Kant's efforts to incorporate moral progress (towards "joyful fulfilling of one's duty") into his system fail, unless it is to undergo a radical reconstruction. However, the experience of craving shows its non-mechanical basis, the basis in understanding its object as of a value for us. The Buddhist account of non-self (similarly to Heidegger's thought that we at first understand ourselves wrongly as an entity that only occurs) problematises this understanding. The self-demarcation, which establishes craving means understanding oneself as an object, with which something can happen and which can have some attributes. But our experience of freedom shows, that our power to act is not a possibility of that sort. Organic architecture and contemporary residential living

Organic architecture is often used term especially in connection with the daring and experimental form. The exact definition or division is still missing. The founder of modern organic architecture is to be generally considered as Frank Loyd Wright. He was the man who created organic architecture and also made first definition in the early twentieth century, when formulating new architectural styles. Dissertation deals with insufficiently described problem of organic architecture. The main focus is on contemporary production of residential organic architecture in Central Europe. Especially on the particular realizations in Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Austria, Germany and Poland. Beside detail description of European realizations, the dissertation deals also with foundations of organic architecture in U.S.A. and important realizations here. Modern organic architecture primarily originated in the United States of America. The work presents most important contemporary realizations and architects creating resident living organic architecture in other countries around the world in order to complete the overview. The objective of dissertation was describing newest trends in designing buildings for living. Find position of organic architecture and give reasons for it´s increasing popularity, spread and necessity for new development in architecture according to the new trends. Organic architecture is an alternative way of contemporary residential living. It´s popularity is growing in last years in response to the development of modern technologies and materials, the need to protect our natural resources and also to the increasing negatives of globalization and to denial of local traditions and regional specificities. Aspects of organic forms were divided into three main groups according to their main characteristics: form, harmony and sustainable development. Another objective was find location of contemporary organic residential architecture in Czech Republic and abroad. It is rather spread all over the world than concentrated on certain places. Therefore I selected countries that are richer than the others on the occurrence of organic buildings. The objective was also to address architects, specialists, public and especially university teachers of architecture and students themselves. Communication with them was mainly connected with grant project in 2010. The theme of grant project was contemporary organic architecture in residential living. There were lectures about contemporary organic architecture and exhibition on the theme: Contemporary living organic architecture. The publication of the catalog was published under the title: Contemporary organic houses - Europe. I had the opportunity to visit a number of organic family houses abroad. Specifically houses in Slovakia, Hungary and Germany. Results of survey, which was realized by questions to owners and authors of chosen buildings, are included in dissertation. The mail results of dissertation are - make a detail review of organic architecture in residential living - define trends in contemporary organic architecture and residential living - obtain and process answers from owners and authors of chosen buildings within survey - analysis of organic house ( houses) in city planning and landscape - publication of catalogue focused on organic contemporary European houses - article about contemporary organic architecture and residential living will be published in 2012 on archiweb page

The topic of death and closely associated fragments through which I presented my opinion in this work had a long development. During my life I came across very often with parting my close persons. It is not reaction to present situation. It is a long time process which resulted in solving this problem in my mind. Consideration of the situation in this way helped me to put up with reality and to accept death as the natural phase of living organism. This exhibition was concipated as the memory for people who were a part of my life but now they exist only in my memories. Although this topic may produce a gloomy or controverse impression, my aim was not provocation or agressivity. I want my work to be a gesture of respect for people who are not among us and we should never forget them. The instalation is strongly dependent on space, it goes out of it. I tis necessary to perceive the exhibition completely which is one of the most principal things. A very important thing is a change of space and its cleaning. In this way I tried to achieve the communication between the space and the work of art. The space itself produces a monumental, almost sacral impression which is perfect for my topic. I didn’t want to overfill the space, that is why I chose a minimalistic composition including number of works of art. On purpose I let the space influence in it’s spiritual emptiness and gave it a chance to breath. The intervention in it must be perceived as a support of its expression. My work of art is based on cleanliness and stylisation of symbol.

The book Boční pohled na zatmění Slunce (Side View on Solar Eclipse) is an artistic attempt to articulate own creative methodology. Simple verbal declamations, quotations from books and conceptual sketches may be understood as a headword complement to my work of past few years. If the reader is, by any reason, unacquainted to that work, the book should work as an autonomous poetical unit.

My diploma thesis Aspects of authenticity in acting examines the authenticity, nature, plausibility and truth in acting and performances or in other various forms of performing arts. All this is based both on my own experience and on theoretical, but not purely scholarly approach. However, this theoretical approach represents my own understanding without any ambition of theory redefinition. Diploma thesis examines, think and also submit claims. All these concepts are demonstrated on my acquired artistic activities and on creation which I was or still I am part of. The diploma thesis is also conceived as a look back, self-reflection, anchor and clarification of matters which of course involve my future and my artistic activities that are not mentioned in this thesis.
(Un)Thinking Actor

This thesis is concerned with author's acting experiences. The aim is not to create a generally valid analysis but to give a personal statement, which is perceived in a broader context. The author basses this on the fact that he is a Thinking Actor who is constantly searching for his limits. He deals with the advantages and disadvantages of this regarding himself. The chapters are focused on different qualities which are essential for fine acting and the author compares these qualities with his mentioned abilities. Special attention has been paid to naturalness, truthfulness and the authenticity of acting.
