Comparison of the state of Public Affairs in the Czech Republic and Great Britain

This bachelor thesis follows the very first research on the state of public affairs in Czech environment and its comparison to neighbouring countries and so brings the comparison of the state of public affairs in the Czech Republic with Western style democracy on the example of the United Kingdom. The comparison is conducted on the basis of state regulations. Regulatory framework is then also completed with insight into self- regulation. Based on such method, number of dissimilarities and similarities between the states of public affairs in both countries are indentified - amongst the most significant of the latter falls: both countries (1) pursued establishment of separate law intensively only in very recent years; (2) decided to address the issue of unsatisfactory level of transparency within the industry by suggesting introduction of mandatory register that should be available to the public online; (3) aside from regulating actions of those in the public affairs industry, both countries emphasize the importance of regulating the ones who are lobbied; (4) highlight as potential problem the ‚revolving door effect'; (5) failed to achieve to approve the legislation in the way it was originally designed and both countries (6) still lack effective statutory regulation of the public affairs industry....

Title: Protection against corruption and bribery and their prevention Abstract My diploma thesis should describe the contemporary issues of corruption and then it should show us the differences between corruption and lobbying. After that I would like to focus on the current legislation which mentions corruption. Finally, I would highlight the necessity of prevention. Initially, I would try to define corruption, describe the origin reasons of corruption and its dividing. The next part of the first chapter includes the methods of measurement, which are used for taking an imagination about the extent of the corruption in this age. The following chapter describes lobbying and the other terms which belong to it. The main goal is an effort to distinguish the situation when it is still lobbying and the situation when the legal line of lobbying is already broke. The next chapter includes current legislation which concerns the problem of corruption. Because of the quite extensive legislation I try to focus on the regulation in the criminal law and in the business law. Lobbying and it's regulation in Czech Republic

The thesis "Lobbying and its regulation in the Czech Republic" deals with the theoretical and practical aspects of lobbying regulation. Its aim is to make a comprehensive and effective regulation of the campaign for the Czech Republic. It first examines basic terms: lobbying, lobbyists and public officials. It provides a theoretical overview of the lobbying regulation tools. The thesis describes two forms of regulation which are self-regulation and regulation by law. A separate chapter is devoted to demark lobbying from corruption. The following chapter provides an overview of lobbying regulation in the selected countries. This analysis shows the various options and approaches to lobbying regulations, which is reflected in adjustments to the individual states. In practice the use of rights and obligations for lobbyists, a lobbying group or both simultaneously. Attention is also given to attempts made to regulate lobbying in the Czech Republic. So far, however, none of them have been applied in practice. The thesis offers a methodological contribution, consisting in an interconnecting of the analysis of interest groups with a new institutional paradigm, utilizing its fundamental concepts, particularly transaction costs, formal and informal institutions, and various types of 5 institutional setting, its equilibrium and change. Among the problems of pluralist democracy there are underlined the processes of cleavage and cohesion, shaping group diversity under the condition of multi-actor democracy. The characteristic of political decision-making involves beyond general framework also problems of group decisionmaking. Women's organizations in the CR as family policy lobbyists

The diploma thesis deals with the theme of women's organizations lobbying family policy. The theoretical approaches used in the work discribe the subject of research and the tools for its exploration. These are manily theories of interest groups, theories of third sector-state interactions and theories of lobbying. Theories raised following research questions: Are women's organizations insiders or outsiders of family policy? Are their relations with state mainly cooperative or confrontational, do they join institucionalized or non-formal negotiations? Do they use radical or moderate forms of lobbying? Is their lobbying direct or indirect? The thesis explores also the costs of lobbying and their influence on the forms of lobbying chosen by women's organizations. It is also focused on evaluation of the succes of the women's organizations and on the potential and barriers of coalition and networks building. The diploma thesis comes with following results. The women's organizations are mainly insiders in the family policy negotiations. They join the institucionalized forms of advocacy, relations with the state are mainly cooperative. The media image of lobbying

The diploma thesis "Media Image of Lobbying" focuses on the issue of the media image of lobbying and lobbyists in the newspapers Mladá fronta Dnes and Právo in the year 2008. Lobbying is an activity which the majority of population experiences through the media only. The media may thus greatly influence the way the public perceives and evaluates lobbying. In the first part of the diploma thesis the question of the media presentation of reality are introduced and the factors which influence the form of the media content are outlined. The paper further deals briefly with the effect the media have on the population and with the agenda-setting concept. Then the definition of lobbying is given, as well as the reasons and conditions for its positive and negative reputation. Positive and negative functions of lobbying are pointed out and various types and forms of lobbying are presented including indirect lobbying, which is associated with PR activities. In the research part of the paper the results of the quantitative research are presented. Creating lobbying strategies of NGOs - the case of Amnesty International France

The aim of this Master thesis is to find out whether the lobbying carried out by Amnesty International France as NGO is different from the lobbying carried out by professional lobbying organizations, which means the organizations which promote primarily the interests of its own members. From the general theory of lobbying and theory of lobbying of NGOS the tools for creating pressure on politics was chosen and factors which could influence usage of these tools were identified. Then it was verified if these tools are really used by Amnesty International France and by which factors the tools are picked up. Expected result of this research was that lobbing of Amnesty International France as NGO is specific because of different circumstances, reasons and goals of lobbying from the professional lobbying. From the results of interpretation of Amnesty International France's documents and interviews with persons involved in the lobbying strategy imply that this NGO really choose some different tools from professional lobbying and is influenced by different factors. But there are also similarities.
Cooperation of NGOs in the selected region as a factor in development

Bachelor thesis deals with the Cooperation of non-profit organizations in the Ústí region. Bachelor thesis was drawn up on the basic statistical analysis Chi-square and the PivotTable report. Data for work was obtained on the basic of quantitative and qualitative investigation. The weork was evaluated, collaboration, conflict with the Ústí region. Furthermore it was also examined in the semistructured interwiew, the focus of non-profit organizations on projects of the Ústí region. Part of the work enviroment are characteristics of the Ústí nad Labem region and distrikt and also the characteristics of the 8 selected non-profit organizations on the basic of the common responses in the quantitative surfy. As a research foundations are laid down three criteria hypotheses by areas of operation, the 5number of members and the functioning of NO in the market. A qualitative survey was examined at 8-profit organizations, two NGOs have been in the area of social action, two NGOs leisure, cultural and NGOs two environmental NGOs. Results responses of individual organizations of the areas of action were compared and evaluated. Finally, the work includes an evaluation of the result of quantitative and qualitative investigation. In discussing the two investigations, several recommendations for improving cooperation and communication with the Ústí Region.
