Musical activities in the development of graphomotor skills during the lateralization of preschool children
Matulová, Veronika ; Kmentová, Milena (advisor) ; Koželuhová, Eva (referee)
The subject of the thesis is the use of musical activities in the development of graphomotor skills of preschool children. The theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to the problem of harmonization of music and movement at the level of gross and fine motor skills. It also deals with the issue of laterality and its distinctness. The practical part contains a detailed case study of a boy with a disadvantageous type of laterality and follows the development of his graphomotor skills during 15 lessons, the core of which are musical activities for the development of graphomotor skills of preschool children. I used multiple complementary research methods in the in-depth case study, which were participant observation, mother interview, open-ended questionnaire, family and personal history, and PPP report. The action research was conducted over a ten-month period, with the boys being 4 years and 3 months old at the start of the research. The practical part of the thesis analyses the action research data and evaluates the overall impact of specific musical activities in the development of preschool children's graphomotor skills.
Development of Test Batteries for Diagnostics of Motor Laterality Manifestation - Link between Cerebellar Dominance and Hand Performance
Musálek, Martin ; Chytráčková, Jitka (advisor) ; Tichý, Jiří (referee) ; Bryden, Pamela (referee)
The aim of this study is to contribute to the standardization of the new diagnostic tools assessing the motor manifestations of laterality in adults and children aged 8 to 10 years, both in terms of determining the theoretical concept and the selection of appropriate items, and the verification of structural hypotheses concerning the design of acceptable models, including the diagnostic quality of individual parts of the test battery. Moreover in this study we try to suggest new approach in assessing of motor laterality manifestation by means of relationship between cerebellar dominance and hand performance. The first part of this thesis deals with the concept of laterality, its manifestations and meaning in non-living systems and living organisms. As a human characteristic, laterality is manifested in a variety of functional and structural asymmetries. This part also discusses ways of diagnosing motor manifestations of laterality and the issue of cerebellar dominance, including its reflection in the form of asymmetry of the extinction physiological syndrome of upper limbs. The second part focuses on the process of the standardization study, the statistical method of structural equation modelling, and the actual design of test battery construction. The last part of this thesis presents the results...

Title: Evaluation of postural stability in modern dance dancers Objectives: The aim of this Diploma thesis is to objectivly evaluate and compare ability of dynamic and static postural stability between modern dancers (women only) and normal healthy population (women only), who don't do any sport activities on a regular basis. Another aim of this study is to evaluate whether the personal preferences of the standing lower limb, used in performing dance piruettes, will affect the load on the lower limbs and it's stability, during testing static and dynamic postural stability. Methods: This thesis is quantitative observational cross-sectional study involved 40 women between 18-29 years. Experimental group included women dancers (n1=20) and control group included women non-athletes from faculty (n2=20). For objective measure of postural stability was used NeruCom Smart EquiTest and following five measuring protocols: Sensory Organization Test, Motor Control Test, Unilateral Stance Test, Limits of Stability a Weight Bearing Squat. Results of measurement was statistically processed in Microsoft Excel 2016 for each group and then compared between groups. For statisticial analysis was used: Shapiro-Wilk test, Student's T-test and Mann-Whitney U-test. Results: A statistically significant difference was found...
Fine motor skills and laterality of preschool children with cerebral palsy
Stibůrková, Monika ; Zulić, Marija (advisor) ; Hájková, Vanda (referee)
The diploma thesis is focused on fine motor skills and laterality of preschool children with cerebral palsy. Based on previous researches was found out, that cerebral palsy is influencing fine motor skills. With reference to these researches, the aim of this thesis is to find out, if there is difference between intact prechool children and preschool children with cerebral pals in fine motor skills and what particular differences there is. The thesis include laterality and question of pronounction in preschool age. The theoretical part describes evolution of children, defines fine motor skills and laterality, deals with cerebral palsy and describes fine motor skills of children with cerebral palsy including previous researches. The empirical part defines the aims of research, explorational questions, methods of research and testing activities. Next part is focused on selection of respondents and their characterics. Main part presents results of testing my respondents, analysis of results and discussion. The research was made by interview and qustionary for parents, and following testing of fine motor skills containing three parts - testing of laterality, grips and general fine motor skills. In results is described existing difference between intact preschool children and children with cerebral...
Ability to write with a nondominant limb in adult population
Ševčíková, Iveta
v anglickém jazyce This thesis analyses the ability to write by a nondominant limb in adult population. First three (theoretical) chapters introduce the issue of communication, aphasia, laterality and writing skills. The fourth chapter brings the research which was realized with a group of intact people. The research compares the results of the test written by dominant and nondominant limb. The aim of this diploma thesis is the contribution to a validity verification of testing writing skills by a nondominant limb

TITLE: Left-handedness and its acceptance in contemporary education system and families AUTHOR: Libuše Svobodová DEPARTMENT: Department of Biology and Environmental Studies SUPERVISOR: doc. RNDr. Václav Vančata, CSc. ABSTRACT: The diploma thesis entitled Left-handedness and its acceptance in contemporary education system and families follows up and complements the bachelor thesis entitled The issue of left- handedness in the development of children and youth - history, present and perspectives. The first and second chapters of the theoretical part of the diploma thesis focus more deeply on the characteristics of left-handed writing styles, advantages and disadvantages of left-handed writing, suitable writing aids, classroom order, organization of work environment and writing methodology. The third chapter is devoted to laterality tests with a focus on the upper limb, lower limb, eye and ear, test tasks, their conditions and evaluation. The last fourth chapter of the theoretical part deals with the central nervous system, more precisely the brain and its asymmetric anatomy, function, control of upper limb movements and motor development of the upper limb. The practical part of the diploma thesis consists of five researches. The first research verifies the occurrence of left-handers in primary schools and...
Quality of sensorimotor control on lower limbs in relation to lateral preference in young athletes (soccer players).
Martínek, Josef ; Opálková, Michaela (advisor) ; Janečková, Alexandra (referee)
Objectives: Our thesis is focused on correlation of lateral (side) preferencies of lower limbs and quality of sensorimotor control. Our aim is to figure out whether there is difference in laterality of sensorimotor control of lower limbs and if so, whether there is correlation with side preferency. Methods: Study is made on 18 volunteers. We tested somatosenzoric system, specifically two-point discrimination, graphesthesia, pallesthesia, statesthesia, kinesthesia. We used a questionnare to determine side preferency of lower limbs. We used paired sample t- tests, with level of importance p=0,05. Results: According to t-tests, there are no differencies in sensorimotor control in lower limbs. According to those results, it is not possible to determine the difference in sensorimotor control due to lower limb preferency. Summary: There is no difference in sides in sensorimotor control of lower limbs.
Evolutionary aspects of (epi)genetic determination of laterality with a special focus on upper limb
Holoubková, Tereza ; Daňková, Pavlína (advisor) ; Struška, Michal (referee)
Handedness is one of the most distinct asymmetries of the human body. There is approximately 90 % of right-handers in the population, which is the strongest bias in handedness among all primates. Handedness is connected with lateralization of brain for language and is determined both genetically and by the environment. Genetic determination of the handedness has not been yet figured out, although there are many candidate genes and regions. In addition to candidate genes, the genetic determination is shaped by the epigenetic mechanisms and the role of testosterone. Handedness occurred alongside the beginning of the human population development, approximately in the Middle Pleistocene, with the same percentage of left-handers as today. Handedness polymorphism is maintained in the population based on the frequency-dependent model because of the advantages and disadvantages associated with left-handedness.
Special needs of left-handers in school club
Navrátilová, Martina ; Valentová, Hana (advisor) ; Blažková, Veronika (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with left-handedness (sinistrality) in the environment of after-school clubs. The theoretical part defines sinistrality with respect to attitude to it in history, describes the types and forms of sinistrality and deals with the options how to recognize it, describes the possibilities of modern approach and support of left-handed children. It also defines the environment, functions and contents of activities in after- school clubs and describes possible support of left-handed children in after-school clubs. The goal of the practical research is to map the attitude of educators to left-handed children, to find out what kind of tools are used in the activities in clubs, to describe quality of equipment and facilities in the classrooms and also to find out what parents expect from the educators. It also looks into particular options how to support left-handed children in arts, music and physical activities in after-school clubs as well as in doing their homework and using IT devices. The hypotheses that lead the research involve parents and educators of left-handed children, whether they are aware of complications connected with sinistrality, whether the children are adequately supported, whether the communication between after-school clubs and parents works in favour of the...
