Numerical simulation of oil flow in bearing housing
Zogata, Filip ; Prokop, Aleš (referee) ; Řehák, Kamil (advisor)
This thesis is concerned with the development of a computational model of the bearing node, since in the development of a synchronous generator, great emphasis is placed on the proper design of the bearing node, as this complex component has a direct effect on the overall efficiency of the generator. A large number of engineering experiments need to be used to test on the physical model, but it is also necessary to test using the numerical model, as the production of the prototype itself for testing is very costly, and therefore it is advisable to verify the prototype itself before production by a series of numerical simulations. Another important feature is the possibility to investigate even unfavourable or even extreme conditions, which are already very difficult, sometimes impossible, to test physically in the laboratory, and these numerical simulations can be divided according to several parameters, but in the field of bearing nodes we mainly encounter structural, dynamic, temperature or flow problems. This thesis in particular is focused on establishing a basic overview of computational fluid dynamics in the oil flow domain, while this knowledge is used in practice, as another objective is to develop a numerical model of lubrication of the aforementioned bearing node. However, this is a very complex problem, and therefore a study is first carried out to investigate the key components, and only by gradually adding different elements is the numerical model created in the Particleworks software environment, while a sensitivity study is carried out focusing on particle size. Subsequently, the individual partial results are summarized in the conclusion of this paper.

South Sudan's border formation process: the case of Abyei
Porubčanová, Lenka ; Mičko, Branislav (advisor) ; Doboš, Bohumil (referee)
The Sudan-South Sudan boundary has been the flashpoint of long-standing disputes between the two states. The most volatile area, however, is the oil-rich territory of Abyei. In the complexity of the localized zone, it is not only oil that forms the basis for the intractability of the two state's territorial disputes. This thesis aims to apply a newly developed theory of boundary formation that conveys broad insights into the possible drivers and factors of the border's state, not only in its technical definition. To this end, the thesis monitors some of the most influential factors compared across chronological periods. In such a mechanism, the thesis concretizes the state of the frontier by the selected structuralist theory. The extract further suggests a bidirectional relationship between the influence of state apparatus and border populations on the final borderwork. Therefore, the reflexivity of the population equally contributes to the border's state. This result demonstrates the theoretical model's broad applicability and a multidisciplinary explanation of the local border dispute fixation. Despite the limited scope, and hence the casual relationships examined, the thesis contributes to the debate on the stimulus for Abyei's territorial boundary tensions to some extent.
Nasycené mastné kyseliny v rostlinných olejích: zdroje a vliv na lidské zdraví
Jašková, Jana
This bachelor thesis deals with vegetable oils that contain a higher proportion of saturated fatty acids. The aim was to determine their sources and impact on human health. This is a literature search that describes the classification of saturated fatty acids among lipids and informs about the most important saturated fatty acids. It also defines the most common vegetable oils with predominant stearic, palmitic or lauric acid. Last but not least, it describes their cultivation and subsequent processing into oil production. At the end of the thesis, diseases associated with saturated fatty acids are formulated, especially the increase in the level of LDL cholesterol and its effect on human health. Overall, the topic of lipids and saturated fatty acids has not been fully explored and contradictory studies are emerging on how they affect human health and how they should be reduced in the human diet.
Analysis of the Oil-Rich Countries: Case Study of Russia and Azerbaijan
Tomanec, Jan ; Mlejnek, Josef (advisor) ; Romancov, Michael (referee)
The subject of this diploma thesis is the analysis of oil-rich countries based on the case study of the Russian federation and the republic of Azerbaijan. This analysis will be based on the Resource curse theory which is fundamental for the conceptual framework of this diploma thesis. This theory describes the resource-rich states as more prone to be governed by an authoritarian regime. This relationship will be defined in the case study of Azerbaijan and Russia by comparative analysis of selected factors and state budget revenues from oil and gas. In the first chapter, the methodology and critical source analysis will be exercised together with the theoretical framework. In the second and third chapters, this paper will focus on the analysis of Azerbaijan and Russia based on factors of repression, war, corruption, and freedom of the press which is the core of this work-study. This diploma thesis is based on the presumption of superabundance on one source-focused export, mainly fossil fuels. Based on this relationship the hypothesis will be tested, which will subsequently confirm or refuse the theory of the resource curse. At the same time, the collected data will be compared with selected European countries and the United States of America which will add the required value to the research. The...
Knowledge comparison of laymen and experts about selected oil accidents
NOVÁK, Michal
Oil spills are an unfortunate part of industrial development so an active prevention is demanded. When such an event occurs, adequate measures need to be taken. The goal of the diploma thesis is to analyze law regulations, documents and information about preselected oil accidents around the world and in the Czech Republic. This thesis also evaluates the knowledge of experts and lay public in the field of oil accidents, while using preselected methods of descriptive and mathematical statistics. Following hypothesis H was chosen to achieve the adequate results of the diploma thesis: "The answers of groups of laymen and experts differ in the case of all questionnaire questions." Theoretical part of this thesis outlines the issue of oil, including general knowledge about its origin, chemical characteristics, oil extraction, processing and areas such as world oil consumption and oil logistics. Storage of oil is also a chapter contained in the theoretical part of this thesis, before it started to focus on the very core of research, oil accidents. These types of accidents were processed by using specialized documents, thanks to which relevant knowledge about individual types of oil accidents were ascertained. The research part was based on the evaluation of answers, which were collected, by using a questionnaire survey. Based on the results of the evaluated knowledge of laymen and experts in the field of oil accidents, the selected hypothesis was getting solved. A total of 105 people took part in the quantitative data collection. For lucidity, the final results are graphically portrayed. Based on the results, which were interpreted in the practical part of this thesis, hypothesis H was rejected. Based on descriptive statistics, the tables for the number of correct answers from lay people and from experts show a proximity to the normal distribution for lay people and a proximity to the Poisson distribution for experts. The diploma thesis brings theoretical and practical knowledge and the possibility to take advantage of the results, not only throughout the academic sphere. This topic also has the potential for follow-up work creation.
Yield and quality of hemp (Cannabis sativa) grown in organic and conventional farming
KAŠPAR, Jan
Hemp is an ancient crop that has a wide range of uses compared to commonly grown crops. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of variety and cultivation system on the yield of total biomass, amount of flowers, leaves, achenes and plant waste, the thousand achene weight, the proportion of size fractions of achenes, the proportion of shelled aschenes and husks and the yield of oil. Hemp cultivation can be recommended for organic farming, because hemp plants had significantly the higher weight of female plants and the yield of total biomass in green and dry matter in t/ha both at flowering and at the end of vegetation perod. They also had the higher production of inflorescences and leaves, and the production of achenes. The cultivation systems are comparable in the proportion of coating layers of achenes and the thousand achene weight. The conventional system was significantly better in the proportion of oil in the achenes and the proportion of the size fraction of achenes above 3.5 mm. When comparing the varieties, a higher yield of biomass and achenes was achieved for the variety Santhica 70 from conventional production (Meclov), namely 57.3 t/ha and 1.5 t/ha. The yield of flowers and leaves was higher from organic production (Chlum) in the Fedora 17 variety, namely 3.08 /ha. The higher proportion of oil in hemp achenes was determined for the variety Santhica 70 from conventional production (Sušice) at 16.5%.
Problematika rozvoje elektricky poháněných vozidel kategorie M1 v České republice
KLÍMA, Denis
In the order of the last few decades with internal combustion engines dominating the passenger transport sector, the electric car now appears to be on the verge of a rapid rise in both developed and emerging automotive markets. The broad application of the electric vehicle could bring about significant changes for society, not only in terms of the technologies we use for passenger transport, but also move our economy away from oil and attempt an environmental footprint in the transport industry by reducing emissions. This work is mainly concerned with electric mobility, its development, but also its issue of development in the Czech Republic, as well as charging infrastructure and its near future for electric mobility. The potential for an electric vehicle will be limited without paying sufficient attention to standards, not only in terms of the speed of its adoption and the fluency of this transition, but also in terms of maintaining compatibility between professional powers, public safety and helping to ensure eco-bikes.
Oil and its influence on the development of democracy. Comparative study of Norway and Azerbaijan
Bárta, Richard ; Guasti, Petra (advisor) ; Riegl, Martin (referee)
On cases of Norway and Azerbaijan, the Bachelor's thesis examines the relationship between the oil and gas production revenues and the quality of democracy. Norway is one of the few countries in the world, that had successfully avoided the Resource curse symptoms. On the other hand, Republic of Azerbaijan is typical example of a state, where oil and gas revenues helped to promote the authoritarian regime. The thesis is trying to find key factors of Norway's oil and gas management success, and also to point out, whether these factors were absent in the case of Azerbaijan. The thesis is focused on the amount of oil and gas related revenues, and its influence on developement of democracy in observed countries. Finally, the thesis responds to following questions: Is the quality of democracy influenced by the amount of revenues from oil and gas? In what way did the revenues allocated from the mineral resources extraction helped to preserve the current regimes? Does Norwegian model provide guidance for avoiding the symptoms of the Resource curse?
