The anglicisms in the function of journalese

This diploma thesis primarily deals with anglicisms in magazines Bravo, Cosmopolitan and Popcorn in 1994, 2004 and 2014 in terms of linguistic, journalistic and pragmatic point of view. The thesis is divided into two main parts: theoretical and analytical. The theoretical part provides an interpretation focusing on the issue of acceptance of English loanwords into the Czech language, their work with them, their eventual integration into the language and stylistic force in the Czech articles. Finally, it takes into account the pragmatic aspect of the texts. The analytical part presents and explains specific examples of anglicisms in the selected magazines, works with adapting processes, and also shows its pragmatic and journalistic functions. On the basis of particular examples from selected magazines, the aim of this thesis is to describe the role of anglicisms in the texts, the way they are treated in the texts, how they are changed in order to serve the journalistic purposes, and how they influence the final form of media content, respectively the whole language system.
Protectorate magazines and attachments of daily press for children and youth as a tool of Nazi propaganda

The work attempts to analyze manifestations and the possible impact of Nazi propaganda in two stages of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. As to daily press the children's annex of Národní politika (National Politics -the most widely read periodical) and Lidové noviny (People's Press - a prestigious and independent newspaper close to the Castle during 1st Republic) have been analyzed. As to periodicals published during the first phase of the protectorate (until the arrest of Prime Minister Alois Eliáš in September 1941) the magazine Mladý hlasatel (Young Announcer) and Dětská neděle (Children's Sunday Magazine) which began to be published in 1935 were chosen and analyzed. The second phase of the protectorate was tightly associated with the establishment and existence of the Curatorium for Education of Bohemian and Moravian Youth and therefore its periodicals Zteč (Charge), Správný kluk (Good Boy) and Dívčí svět (Girl's world) were analyzed together with Knihovna pro mládež (Youth Library) issued by the Curatorium later. Transformation of czech music journalism as a result of the development of online journalism

This thesis deals with the changes within Czech music journalism that are connected to the boom of digital media and online journalism. Firstly, in its the theoretical part, this thesis offers a brief overview of a history of music journalism in Czech lands as well as worldwide and suggests what the role of a music critic is. Then it describes the boom of online journalism - again in Czech context as well as in a wolrdwide context - and continues with describing the main specfics of online journalism.It also mentions current trends of online journalism. The second part of this thesis focuses exclusively on Czech music journalism in the era of a drastic book of digital media after 1995. Main economic and sociocultural trends that influenced Czech music journalism are also mentioned. The second part of this thesis then focuses on a Czech magazine market and various forms of music journalism within a Czech online environment. For the research part of this thesis two media maps of Czech music print and Czech music websites have been made which is followed by a analysis the most popular music website Musicserver.
Comparative analysis of communication of the brands Louis Vuitton and Estée Lauder across selected periodicals in 2013

This diploma thesis Comparative analysis of communication of the brands Louis Vuitton and Estée Lauder across selected periodicals in 2013 deals with the forms of communication the selected luxury brands on the platform of magazines use for addressing their existing and also potential customers. The theoretical part defines luxury and luxury brands Louis Vuitton and Estée Lauder and media, namely printed magazines Elle and Marianne, which together constitute the necessary basis for the subsequent research. Methodological part looks at the key persuasive, semiotic and pragmatic approaches, which, using verbal and non-verbal communication elements, participate in the construction of the examined texts, and submits related basic concepts, which are then used in the analytical part. Here, first, is realized a detailed description and analysis of the selected types of communication followed by the comparison and final evaluation of the findings obtained. Comparison in that is made not only within the individual magazines, respectively types of utterances placed in them, but also in connection with the specifics of the selected luxury brands. The Czech Catholic Exile in Rome in its Attitude Toward Marxism and Communism

This thesis is dealing with the ways in which were reflected marxism and communism in the czech exile catholic magazine "Studie", that had been published in Rome in the period 1958-1990. In addition outlines the issues of the czechoslovak exile in the second half of the twenties century. This thesis also discusses the exile waves that occurred in 1948 and 1968. Finnish media landscape - print media

Bachelor's thesis aims to describe the structure of contemporary print media in the Republic of Finland and the way they function. It focuses namely on the periodically issued print, i.e. newspapers and magazines. The introduction part contains a brief outline of historical background of the Finnish media system and thereby delineates the rise and development of print but also of other media in this country. Next the thesis describes the main characteristics of the said system relating it with economical, social and political bases. Third part of the text covers more specifically some of the present- day titles and their position within the Finnish print market. Internet and its influence on print media in Finland are dealt with in the final part of the work, which also in this context attempts to describe a possible future outlook of the Finnish press. The purpose of this thesis is to present a comprehensive summary of the Finnish print media and of their place within the Finnish media landscape.
