Social Capital: Usefulness of the Concept
Bulla, Martin ; Skovajsa, Marek (advisor) ; Muhič Dizdarevič, Selma (referee)
The vast amount of theoretical and empirical work on social capital that has inundated the social sciences, since the beginning of the nineties, can be roughly divided in to two categories. Firstly there are those writers, mainly political scientists and economists, who follow Putnam's line of reasoning and tend to see "associational membership" more as a source of social capital than as another form of it. Secondly those, mainly sociologists, who tend to treat the concept of social capital as primarily a social structural variable, which can be used to refer to social network or to the linkages between individuals and/or organizations. The later theorists, represented by writers such as Edwards and Foley (2001b), and Lin (2001a, 2001b), usually associate social capital with facilitating goods and service flows among individuals and organization. Through a historical overview, discussion on the major conceptualizations, as well as special characteristics and perspectives of social capital, we try to clarify the social capital debate and clearly differentiate between the two approaches. Subsequently, we present a thorough critique of Putnam's approach to social capital, as well as various arguments questioning its conceptualization and use. As a result, we argue that this line of argument leads to a dead...

Hodnocení systému hospodaření zemědělského podniku se souběžnou ekologickou a konvenční produkcí
Filip, Václav
The aim of the thesis was to evaluate the enterprise management system with organic and conventional production. In 2013, the company Jamenská a.s., Jamné nad Orlicí cooperatives cultivated 542,14 ha of agricultural land the conventional way and 205,21 ha of agricultural land organically. Farms in the southeastern part of the Orlické Mountains at an altitude of 450 up to 730 meters, in the production area is the mountain (H1). On the basis of the data obtained from the period 2008 to 2012 have been calculated for both the Centre's basic environmental, economic and social indicators of sustainability evaluation. Overall evaluation of the agronomic indicators, both parts of the company for the entire reference period is very good, above the limit of sustainability. For conventional land balance has reached average values of N 46,89 kg.ha-1 (P) 5,8 kg.ha-1, (K) -29,77 kg.ha-1, the average supply of organic matter into the soil shall be 5,15 t.ha-1, the specific energy consumption 153,7 MJ.OJ-1, the intensity of plant protection is 54,49% of the average of the CZECH REPUBLIC and evaluation of biodiversity at 0,74. For erosion indicator was found violating the GAEC standards I and II. For the eco-farmed land balance N -3,2 kg.ha-1 (P) -5,7 kg.ha-1, (K) -38,63 kg.ha-1, the annual supply of organic matter into the soil is 3,5 t.ha-1, the specific energy consumption of 127 MJ.OJ-1, the intensity of plant protection 0% of the average of the CZECH REPUBLIC and evaluation of biodiversity 0,78. Also in the organic part of the GAEC standards have been infringed, I and II. Evaluation of economic indicators was also positive, the sales achieved by conventional parts were 22.021 CZK.ha-1 and in the ecology of 21.863 CZK.ha-1. The liquidity of the company for the whole of the reference period amounted to 3,65 and the debt ratio was 26,7%. From the social indicators were monitored, remuneration, working hours, holidays, health and safety at work, employee involvement in company management and social commitment. The values of sustainability was achieved for the rewards for work, vacation and employee involvement. Both parts of the company Jamenská a.s., work well and are sustainable.

Application of Capillary Electrophoresis in Forensic Molecular Genetic Investigation
Grafnetterová, Anna ; Doubková, Klára (advisor) ; Coufalová, Pavla (referee)
5 Abstract The capillary electrophoresis (CE) is an analytical method based on the principle of the traditional plate electrophoresis. Modern ways of fluorescence marking and the detection result in the higher reliability of analyses as well as in more precise results. The utilization of this method is wide within a lot of science fields. In special cases this method can even replace methods used so far, i.e. HPLC. The CE is mainly used in the forensic investigation in particular for person identification based on the DNA analysis of the even minimal sample amount. The STR analysis is an example of such examination. It uses short tandem repeats with high variability within the population. Commercial companies e.g. Promega Corporation, Applied Biosystems etc., develop corresponding instrumentation, software and kits which are important for receiving correct data. As a final result it is obtained DNA profile evaluated by comparison of samples from the "crime scene" with the reference samples. Besides the using in the human domain the DNA profiles are often used in the veterinary practice, in animal (cats, dogs, horses, cattle etc.) raising or breeding, for improving the particular characteristics. Key words: capillary electrophoresis fluorescent labeling STR STR analysis DNA profil

Ruby on Rails and Grails - frameworks for web application development
Černý, Michael ; Pavlíčková, Jarmila (advisor) ; Lukáš, Martin (referee)
The thesis compares web frameworks Ruby on Rails and Grails. The main goal of the thesis is to compare which of these frameworks is more convenient for development of web applications using wide range of criteria. The first part of the thesis defines fundamental terms to understand the web frameworks topic. Subsequently the thesis analyzes the history, language and fundamental characteristics of both frameworks. The next section describes all the details of the reference applications in Ruby on Rails and Grails, that are part of this diploma thesis. The most important part of this thesis is the comparison of both frameworks using a number of criteria. The thesis should provide sufficient amount of information to understand the web frameworks, to obtain the fundamentals for working with the web frameworks Ruby and Rails and Grails and it should bring enough information for optimum choice between these frameworks for development of web application and for future studies. The thesis could be of benefit to both students, that decide what to study in the future, and managers or project leaders, that decide which web framework to use.

Media image of the Workers Party during Janov events on the pages of Mlada Fronta DNES and Lidove Noviny
Werner, Lukáš ; Slanec, Jaroslav (referee) ; Láb, Filip (advisor)
Diploma thesis "Media Image of the Workers Party During Janov Events on the Pages of Mlada fronta Dnes and Lidove noviny" deals with the manner how two chosen Czech newspapers referred about the commotions in Janov, which is a part of Litvinov, Northern Bohemia. In autumn 2008 members and supporters of ultra-right Delnicka strana (the Workers Party) clashed with police and local Romany after they tried to break through to the Janov housing estate. According to them, their aim was to support and protect the local non-Romany inhabitants. The methods of the thesis are quantitative and qualitative analysis of the media content. Thanks to them it is able to compare the amount of space which two chosen newspapers used to refer about these events and if their news were balanced and in which manners did they differ. There is also a theoretical part, in which a development and rise of Czech rightwing extremism after the Velvet revolution is described and summed up, focusing on the political parties who represented the Nazis in the 1990s and now - the SPR-RSC (Republicans) and Delnicka strana.

Media on media : self-representation and representation of competition
Vocelka, Petr Tomáš ; Jirák, Jan (referee) ; Wolák, Radim (advisor)
This thesis called "Media on Media: Self-Representation and Representation of Competition" describes how, and under which circumstances Czech media project themselves into their news content. It also defines attributes typical for such content, and what are the initiative situations that cause its production. The thesis also determines which of the analysed media types produces the highest figure of selfrepresenting content, and how this amount evolves quantitatively over time. The second part of this work focuses on methods that particular media use to inform on their competition. As a result of quantitative content analysis, which had been used in both parts of the research, it was not only possible to state the overall figure of such contents, but also to specify characteristics usually present in this content. The thesis also shortly analyses the topics and types of these contents. By using the above specified methodology it was also possible to identify particular media that refer about others the most and those that are on the contrary the most mentioned in the news coverage of others. This should clarify functioning of agenda-setting of Czech media in this field.

Electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical study of nanocrystalline TiO2 anatase with exposed (001) faces
Lásková, Barbora ; Zukalová, Markéta ; Bouša, Milan ; Kavan, Ladislav ; Liska, P. ; Grätzel, M.
The electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical behavior ot TiO2 anatase with a predominant (001) face was studied and compared to a reference anatase material with dominating (101) face. The electrochemical measurements indicate that Li-ion insertion/extraction is facilitated for TiO2 anatase with (001) faces as compared to (101) one. The performance of both different crystal morphologies as a photoanode material in DSC (dye sensitized solar cell) was tested too. The (001) face adsorbed smaller amount of the used dye sensitizer (C101) but provides larger open circuit voltage (Uoc) of the solar cell. The different band energetics of both particular morphologies was suggested to be the reason for the voltage enhancement of the device employing (001) anatase. To prove our hypothesis and determine their flatband potential, a spectroelectrochemical study of transparent films of nanocrystalline (001) and (101) anatase on coaducting glass was carried out. UV/Vis spectra were measured at potentials between 0 and -1.4V vs SCE and confirmed the negative shift of flatband potential for (001) anatase as compared to (101) one.

MEDIA INFLUENCE ON PRE-SCHOOL CHILDREN´S
DAŇKOVÁ, Ludmila
This baccalaureate work {\clqq}Influences of Media on children{\crq}s behaviour of pre-school age`` treats the role and meaning of Media in the process of upbringing and education of preschool aged children. In this work, it is partly referred to possible negative effects of Media rising on children especially in consequence of showing violence, partly to unfavourable impacts rising in consequence of spending ewcessive amount of time in front of a television or other Media at the expense of other useful activities. The change in behaviour and behaviour of a boy is outlined in case studies. He is influenced by frequent playing computer games that are thematicly unsuitable to his age. At the same time, this features possibilities as how to prevent these negative influences.

Public health insurance and its new legislative conception in the Czech legal order
Novotná, Lenka ; Císařová, Dagmar (advisor) ; Sovová, Olga (referee)
This thesis is focused on current public health insurance system in Czech Republic and its possible future changes according to the proposals of the present government. The term "public health insurance" does not necessarily imply that the system is administered by public body (or bodies); it rather refers to the fact that the health insurance scheme in Czech Republic is designed to be a social and mandatory system based on solidarity of insured and plurality of health insurers. All members of the system are regularly contributing according to their possibilities. Their contribution is monthly redistributed among health insurance companies according to the risk adjustment scheme. That ensures that the health insurers get more money for diseased insured and so they don't have motivation to risk selection. As a result, all diseased should be getting every health care they need. Such systems are also often called statutory health insurance schemes. Nowadays, Czech Republic faces several problems related to this area. Czech health insurers are owned neither by the state, nor by anyone else. That brings a lot of uncertainty into the system, because there is no one responsible for the economic results of health insurance companies. As a result of that, a huge amount of financial resources is spent needlessly. On...

Optimization of the company tax liability
Blažková, Monika ; Kislingerová, Eva (advisor) ; Zámečník, Petr (referee)
This thesis introduces the tax system of the Czech Republic. The corporate income tax in particular is specified in bigger detail. Its basic structural elements are described with the focus on the transformation of the accountable profit to the tax base. The practical part is divided into chapters, each of which deals with the optimization of the amount of the real tax liability. The content, instruments mentioned and methods for decreasing company tax liability applied suggest this work more likely addresses smaller and medium-sized companies. These companies need what is referred to as tax planning. This thesis analyzes the possibilities of the use of tax-deductible items provided by law, tax abatements; further it specifies cost and revenue conception of tax optimalization or more precisely the amount of the accountable profit or tax base. The aim of the practical part is to identify tax optimization possibilities and to compare on concrete cases what tax saving or other advantages to the taxpayer each method brings.
