Vratislav Effenberger's poetry and its ideologic context
Caňko, Miloslav ; Vojvodík, Josef (advisor) ; Bílek, Petr (referee)
This study contains an analysis of the poetry of Vratislav Effenberger and the context of its ideas. The first two sections are devoted to the ideology of Czech surrealism, with which Effenberger is indelibly linked as a leading theoretician and which determined his direction for several long decades. The Introduction carries basic information about the history of Czech surrealism, the general problems of its theory and creative practice and the personality of the author in question. The following part examines in detail one aspect of the fundamental shift that occurred in Czech surrealism during its post-war developments: the shift from attempts at achieving a general disruption of the spirit (European rationalist thought), bringing about a total "crisis of consciousness," to mapping this crisis as a depressing problem of the contemporary world. This change is related to the different position of Czech surrealists regarding psychoanalysis: In this context, the author of this study refers to the two-member development scheme of Jean Michel Rabaté, according to which it is possible to distinguish between "hysterical" and "paranoid" discourse within surrealism, and proposes that it be supplemented by a third member - "analytical" discourse. The remaining sections of the whole study are focused on...

Language as ethics according to Levinas
Bierhanzl, Jan ; Kouba, Petr (referee) ; Petříček, Miroslav (advisor)
For Emmanuel Lévinas, language is a pure communication with exteriority, which precedes language as a system of differences and references. The paper here presented attempts to interpretate this primacy of pure communication as a prerequisite of such a theory of "signifying" which would be an alternative against the common structural approach to language as an apersonal system. The correlation between "signifying" and ethics, as would also be possible to describe the essence of language according to Levinas, furthermore implicates certain scepticism against a purely theoretical speech, which leads the author to a conception of philosophy as the wisdom of love. The final section of this paper brings a selection of texts from the work of Yves Aulas, a philosopher with mental disease, who remarkably exemplifies Levinasian method of ethical reduction of theory.

The Russian Translations of A Clockwork Orange
Václavová, Andrea ; Hlaváček, Antonín (advisor) ; Hříbková, Radka (referee)
The diploma thesis "Russian translations of A. Burgess' novel lA Clockwork Orange" deals with the question of translation of Russian words used in the book written in English into Russian. It also deals with the problem whether the former aesthetic value of the original is being preserved in the translated works as well. You will discover linguistic and literary analyses of the original version and its three Russian translations (which were published in Russia under the title 'Заводной апельсин') and a comparison of them. The Sinélščikov's translation seems to be the most successful at the first sight. He translates the Russian expressions used in English by English and American words. But only if you read the whole book you will find out that he slightly changes the original plot and thus he also shifts the meaning of the novel. In other words he does not preserve the original aesthetic value of Burgess' work. In comparison, Nëtësovova's translation is the most successful of all as for the maintenance of artistic value of the book. Paradoxically, the most often published Bošnjak's translation is excessively vulgar and it is the less imaginative translation of all. His translation does not give the reader the possibility to get known or to understand the meaning of Burgess' literary work. Powered by TCPDF...
