Valjarevićová, Eva ; Köpplová, Barbara (advisor) ; Trampota, Tomáš (referee)
Before my analysis of cultural column in the newspaper Mlada Fronta Dnes, I asked a few questions and I set a hypothesis. I was curious, how the cultural page in the newspaper was influenced by american culture. In determined years 1992, 1996 and 2000, from four to eleven years after the 1989 velvet revolution in Czechoslovakia, followed by the change of political regime, I analyzed, to what extend are film, literature and fine arts published in the newspaper and also what space the cultural column actually takes. Artificial neural networks and their application in the assessment of insurance risks
Macek, Karel ; Jiroutek, Pavel (referee) ; Mrázová, Iveta (advisor)
The present work studies applicability of artificial neural networks in the assessment of insurance risk. Structure and function of multilayer perceptrons, Kohonen maps, Fuzzy ART networks, and Fuzzy ARTMAP networks are described. Concept of insurance risk is defined and the ratemaking by generalized linear models is introduced. Neural networks' methods for reduction of input space's dimension, knowledge extraction, and visualization are summed up. Data describing traffic accidents are acquainted and results achieved on them are presented. The work successfully demonstrates theoretically and experimentally that multilayer perceptrons approximate better than generalized linear models. Modification of multilayer perceptron estimated distribution function of total claim. Analysis performed by Kohonen map and by subsequent visualization detected two significant clusters. Analysis by Fuzzy ART network is presented as a part of new algorithm for reduction of input space's dimension. New algorithm inspired by Fuzzy ARTMAP network discovered a group of accidents where the claim is above average. This group is delimited by interpretable rules. Attached CD contains scripts for Matlab and MySQL that was used for mentioned analyses.

The thesis deals with the historical evolution of the tax system in the territory of the Czech Republic from a period of the Czechoslovak Socialistic Republic in 1989 until today. The main focus of this thesis concerns a comprehensive view into that more than twenty years lasting tax evolution and a specification of the most important tax changes and reforms as I see them. Afterwards it mentions the transformation process from the central-planning economy towards the market one as well as the tax reform in 1993. The next part of the thesis is devoted to the tax changes between 1993-2013 which comprise notably the impact of the accession of the Czech Republic to the European Union in 2004 on the tax sytem and the tax reform in 2008. The evolution of the tax system is illustrated by the tax to GDP ratio, the tax mix and the related tax burden impact on tax payers. The evolution is also compared with that of other OECD countries. The today's tax system (2013) is subsequently assessed. On the basis of the historical and political aspects of the czech tax systems as well as on the basis of the assessment of the valid one I present antocipated conceptions of the subsequent tax system evolution.
