The Evolution and Form of Game Reviews in SCORE magazine

The thesis deals with stylistic changes in gaming reviews, which function as a "buyer's guide" for its readers through educated opinion given by a professional reviewers. It explores the supposed changes in style during the years 1996 through 2010 and focuses on the most established gaming print magazine in the Czech Republic SCORE. The research part is preceded by theoretical section of the thesis, which introduces basic concepts of contemporary game journalism in order to describe and interpret the stylistic changes discussed in the research segment. The thesis should offer a comprehensive overview of the stylistic variations in gaming reviews and also their interpretation in the context of changes in gaming media industry in the Czech Republic.

Cílem semestrální práce “Elektrotechnika – komentovaný překlad” je překlad českého odborného textu do angličtiny, který slouží jako studijní materiál pro studenty elektrotechnologie, a provést komparativní analýzu originálu a přeloženého textu. Zdrojový text je rozdělen do devíti kapitol, z kterých bylo vybráno několik výňatků na nichž byla následně provedena analýza z lingvistického hlediska. Každý z nich se zabývá jinou oblastí elektrotechniky a použivá k tomu odlišnou škálu odborných výrazů. Tato bakalářská práce take nabízí základní teorii zabývající se překladem textů psaných ve stylu vědy a techniky.
The birth of an industry

The aim of this thesis is to translate the chapter The birth of an industry written by Douglas Bruster for the publication The Cambridge History of British Theatre. This thesis further contains a commentary of the translation. The first part of the commentary is devoted to translation analysis of the original text, the second part concentrates on description of the translation problems and their solutions. This thesis is concluded by a typology of translation shifts.

The first part the commentary provides a general translation analysis of the original text. The second focuses on translation problems and shifts and their solutions. The last part describes the selected translation method. There is an annex attached, consisting of the original text and the respective painting reproductions.
Analysis of Language and Structure of the Three Czech Translations of the Poem Jabberwocky from the Book Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There by L. Carroll

The thesis is about the poem Jabberwocky from the book Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There by L. Carroll and its three Czech translations - Žvahlav by J. Císař, Tlachapoud by A. and H. Skoumal and Hromoplkie by V. Pinkava. The theoretical principles of translating are summarized at the beginning of the thesis. The emphasis is on the aesthetic function of translation. The main part of the thesis is a detailed analysis of language of the original poem and its translations, from the linguistic levels. The discoveries are summarized in the conclusion. The conclusion also gives the evaluation how exact the translations are.

The purpose of this bachelor thesis is to provide a translation and a commentary of a number of chapters from "Historia de la literatura hispanoamericana", written by the Spanish author Manuel Villar Raso. The first part of the translation commentary will contain a stylistic analysis of the translated text, the second will focus on grammar, syntax and vocabulary used in the original text. The third part will outline the typology of problems that we came across during the translation process. Our main focus is to provide the Czech reader with the most functional translation of the original possible, keeping all stylistic and grammatical norms. The original text can be found in the annex. The Style and Language of Sport News and Journalism, Moderators, and Commentators in Czech Television (Focused on Petr Vichnar)

This diploma thesis titled "The Style and Language of Sport News and Journalism, Moderators, and Commentators in Czech Television (Focused on Petr Vichnar)" describes and analyses the speech of Petr Vichnar (of Czechoslovak Television fame) from the station's inception up to the present day. The thesis is divided into six main parts. The first part deals with general stylistic elements, the second focuses on the style and language in the contemporary speech of Petr Vichnar. Part three deals with the style and language of this author in the past whereas the fourth section shows the transformation of speech. The fifth and sixth parts deal with work in television and sports langure and a semiotic analysis respectively. Everyone changes in thein profession, and sports journalists are no exception either. Petr Vichnar began his career in sports journalism at the time when Wi-Fi networks, which allow rapid acquisition of information, were not in common usage. He began to moderate, though not yet using a teleprompter / auto-cue, and so he either had to keep everything in his head or use notes on paper. All this and more contributed to a change of expression of this most important sports commentator and the programs or matches on which he commentated.
