Štegmannová, Ingrid ; Havrdová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Holmerová, Iva (referee) ; Janečková, Hana (referee)
1 Name of paper / Name of work The implementation of social services quality standards in residential facilities for elderly people - Ethical aspects Abstract The changes in the approach to the clients and adjustments of the run of the facility to their needs are one of the biggest long-term challenges for the service providers. The basis for the correct setting of all the parameters of service (process, personnel and operating) are standards in the quality of social services which involve certain principles and ethical values altogether. One of the essential tools in the changes in approach to clients is the principle of individualization of care, which can be achieved by setting the services to each client individually so that the service provided reflects their real need as much as possible. This dissertation focuses on the individualization of care as a significant indicator in the changes of approach to clients. We tried to figure how the individualization of care reflects in the attitudes of organizations to implement quality standards and how it affects the worker's personality and chosen organizational aspects. An interim goal of this paper was also to identify the ethical aspects which can accompany the introduction of quality standards into practice. We have chosen a method of quantitative...

Dubcová, Ivana ; Burcin, Boris (referee) ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor)
The main aim of the thesis is to estimate a needed capacity of nursing homes and houses with home help services in the district Nový Jičín. The year 2030 was chosen as a time horizon. Current facilities, age and sex structure of their users in this district were described by means of field inquiry. The proportion of users of facilities was estimated from real population of the district at specific age. Important part of the thesis is a forecast of population growth of the district, which was based on the previous population development there. This trend was compared with population development in Moravian-Silesian region and in the Czech Republic as a whole in the special chapter. The estimate of needed capacity of above-mentioned facilities connects the forecast of the future development of age structure of elderly with contemporary availability of the facilities providing care for elderly. The thesis also describes the development of facilities providing care for elderly in the Czech Republic, furthermore it analyses the factors that can influence demand for these facilities.
Stress connected with care of seniors.
KOREJSOVÁ, Kateřina
The theme of this bachelor's thesis is the care of seniors and any stress accompanying nursing duties. The introductory chapter of the theoretical portion is concerned with the theme of age and aging. The chapter after is devoted to the theme of care and nursing. It provides a glimpse into the history of these fields, defines their meaning and aims, describes the nature of a carer/nurse and introduces a holistic approach to care/nursing. The following chapters will address stress and burnout syndrome, their manifestations, causes, and preventative measures as well some treatments. An important part of the thesis is the chapter that details the possibilities for care of seniors. It describes the various forms of health care as well as social care. One of the sub-chapters of this section presents an overview of the care facilities for seniors that exist within the Czech Republic. The last chapter of the theoretical part connects the theme of care of seniors with the theme of stress. It describes the most common causes of stress which surround the care of seniors. In the research portion of this thesis goals are described and methods and results of research are outlined. Its aim was to discover how the individuals who care for seniors feel: stress levels, the causes of stress, and how they deal with stress. A quantitative questionnaire method was used, and two types of questionnaire were created as a result one for the individuals who care for seniors (members of their family) in the normal surroundings of their home, and a second for the care workers who look after seniors in professional facilities. In the research it was discovered that the carers "laymen" who care for their family members at home are more often exhausted, but they do not think they succumb to burnout syndrome. This may be because care is not such a great drain on them that they could not or would not continue to give it. A positive of this is the discovery that these people often chose to care for their senior relatives purely by choice, and not due to pressure from their surroundings. Stress-causing factors are, according to the survey a higher level of dependency of the senior, long-term care (more than 10 years), no adjustment of the household to accommodate for the health status of the senior and the fact that the carer cares for them by themselves unless someone helps them (family, friends, professional facilities). The second questionnaire came to a somewhat unsettling discovery. Not only that twenty-six of thirty respondents feel exhausted at the end of the day, but half revealed that they felt they had succumbed to burnout syndrome (they feel long-term exhaustion and fatigue, an aversion to work etc.). However, almost all respondents agree that the seniors they care for are content. We suggest that the reason for this "burnout" is that the job itself is very demanding, and also the possibility that their work is not fairly rewarded financially. On the other hand, we can also gather that although the carers in professional facilities feel exhausted and "burnt out", they like their jobs.

The care of seniors in the field day care of the Regional charity Třeboň
BROŽOVÁ, Alena
Our population is aging, people are living longer. There are a growing number of seniors who are non self-sufficient due to their age and need help from others. Since their families may not always be able to take care of them, these people need adequate social services. This thesis deals with two groups of seniors that use two social services available in a small town. The first group contains seniors living in their homes ? in-home care clients, the second group are Senior Home residents. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part consists of four sections, the first deals with the aging of population in the Czech Republic, the second deals with the care for seniors, the third describes aspects of seniors´ lives and the fourth section defines the Home Care for seniors and the Senior Home in Třeboň. The objective of the thesis was to compare aspects of life of these two services users. To collect data, the strategy of qualitative research was used and the following techniques were chosen: participant observation, semi-conducted interview and personal documents analysis. In the discussion, the author compares the results of her work with the views of other authors dealing with senior issues. This thesis can be used as information material for both the mentioned workplaces, as well as for students and, last but not least, for seniors who are deciding which service to choose.
