Image as a New Type of Reality
Aimová, Irena ; Bystřický, Jiří (advisor) ; Petříček, Miroslav (referee)
The text deals with the problem of the image and focuses mainly on evolution of different techniques of depiction and on transforming forms of visual representations. Images have a considerable impact on individuals and society because they can affect our ways of thinking and acting. They can also work as modes and schemes of visual perception and thus constitute our "image" of reality. Particular emphasis is given to contemporary transformation of the nature and function of images, as well as modes of reception related to new advances in communication technologies.

E-Government within Public Administration in the Czech Republic
Lechner, Tomáš ; Mates, Pavel (advisor) ; Polčák, Radim (referee) ; Smejkal, Vladimír (referee)
The objective of the thesis is to analyze the current implementation of information and communication technologies in public administration in the Czech Republic and its development. The presented results come from my partial researches of this area, which I was doing in the whole course of my doctoral study. The thesis is divided into several parts. The first part deals with review of various e-Government definitions and its objectives identification as e-Government has already become an integral part of public administration transformation process. There are also discussed individual e-Government development stages within the broader context of information society development as well as in the context of connections created within the European Union. The second part of the thesis deals with two different points of view of e-Government. The first one includes separate components and institutes of e-Government such as an electronic signature, data mailboxes and contact points of public administration. The second point of view is based on projects. There are mentioned both state level projects such as the Portal of public administration, information system of data mailboxes, Czech POINT, basic registries of public administration and resort level projects as well as projects of particular authorities. Typical examples of regional and local level e-Government projects, which are provided by municipalities, are also included in this part. The third part of the thesis deals with legal, economic, social and regional aspects of e-Government. Indivisible part of this chapter is precise identification and description of constraints that limit implementation possibilities of information and communication technologies within the public administration. These constraints must not be understood as barriers that have to be overcome at any costs or as barriers restraining development of e-Government, but as borders of properly defined space, where the electronization of public administration should operate. Correct understanding of these constraints can help to decrease failure risk of e-Government projects. One of these constraints is legal framework, which I suppose to be crucial and that is why I pay to it the most attention. Besides proving the stated working hypothesis there are given three recommendations for next development of e-Government in the Czech Republic. I suppose that e-Government is a meaningful part of transformation process of public administration and that while keeping some rules it can bring significantly positive results.

Secondary school studying in transformation of times
KASTLOVÁ, Martina
The main aim of this dissertation (thesis) is to conduct a survey of the high school education through the history and put into the context the historical development and it's infuence on the studying. I would like to subsequently confornt this piece of knowledge with the current situation. This is also a kind of probe into the students life. In more detail I'm focussed on the J.V. Jirsik's grammar school in Ceske Budejovice. This college, thanks to it's wide and diverse history and also thanks to it's well preserved archives, provides a complete view of the secondary school tuition acroos history in our region. In the theoretical part of my work I'm specifying the different problems and difficulties of the high school education, which we can see through the history and also at the present time. In the practical part I would like to verify my discovered facts and complete these with other findings. The main contribution of my work lies in presenting analysis and subsequent deduction of my findings regarding the above mentioned subject. I believe my findings could be a great help and contribution to the social pedagogy field.

Is it myself in the mirror?
Radová, Vlasta ; Levínská, Markéta (advisor) ; Doubek, David (referee)
in English A beautiful and healthy body now indicates a happy and contented life, and that is why our society is so obsessed by it. It was transformed into a commercial object, and the borders to which we can manipulate with it are pushed even further. At the same time, many people realize the necessity of cooperation with the body in order to reach a physical and mental health. Voices are heard calling for prevention of exploitation of human bodies and against the lowering of human dignity. We can see showing up different kinds of oriental philosophy, psychosomatic medicine or psychoterapeutic approaches targeted at the body, which are trying to outweigh the trends treating the body as a mere commodity. In spite of those efforts, the number of people with impaired perception and experiencing of their own body is still growing. The most frequent and most discussed are the eating disorders, which endanger seriously all aspects of a person's life. Most of the disorders will develop during adolescence, and that is why in my research I focused on the mapping of corporal experience of young people. In my work I employed the grounded theory method, or a qualitative research. The main research method used is semi-structured interview. The theoretical part consists of a philosophical historical and social...

Duality of the legal regulation of a dominant position in EU competition law
Pavel, Jan ; Svoboda, Pavel (advisor) ; Šmejkal, Václav (referee)
Résumé The presented work addresses the issue of the double-tracking nature of a dominant position in European competition law. The aim of the integration efforts during the establishment of the EU was the creation of an internal market, especially the customs union. In order to achieve this state, it was necessary to take a number of integration measures and create a legal framework, i.e. conditions, under which economic competition in the internal market could operate effectively. In this context a variety of legislation valid for the whole EU territory has been accepted. However, in the context of the economic competition this work analyzes the legislation on market dominance carried out first in Article 102 of TFEU (Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union) prohibiting restrictive business practices in the form of abuse of a dominant position and also in Council Regulation (EEC) No 4064/89 and later in Council Regulation (EC) No 139/2004 regulating the control of concentrations between undertakings. In case of both the legislations the crucial question is the "dominant position" of an enterprise in the market, while Article 102 of TFEU represents the ex post control, i.e. applies only to the possible abuse of the dominant position, and in this sense the dominant position itself is not the...

Conversion of monophonic melody from the audio signal into the MIDI protocol stream
Krupička, Jan ; Rášo, Ondřej (referee) ; Mačák, Jaromír (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is to compare possibilities of the pitch extraction methods in the monophonic melody. There is presented the overview of the methods based on the speech pitch extraction techniques in the thesis. These methods uses frequency, time and „cepstral“ domain. They are compared in the term of success of the detection of various test signals. The part of the thesis specification is the implementation of these methods in Matlab. There are described basics of sound features at the beginning of this work. The overview of the musical tuning systems is mentioned and there is described a problem of the determination of the pitch from the detected frequency. There is considered an issue of MIDI protocol in the next part of the work. There are described the brief history and the essential structure of MIDI protocol. The last task of the work was the creation of the program in C language. The purpose of the program is to analyze the monophonic melody in audio signal form and assign note numbers to the detected sounds according to MIDI specification. After that the numbers are written into the standard MIDI file (SMF). There was implemented a correlation pitch detection algorithm in this program. It had the best results as compared to the others. There was used the fast correlation based on Fast Fourier transformation to accelerate computing of the correlation. The program was created in the form of MEX function, which provides various possibilities to be used in Matlab. There was also attached the description of the FFTW library, which was used to compute FFT.

An impact of organic farming on soil quality
Matěchová, Martina ; Jakšík, Ondřej (advisor) ; Janků, Jaroslava (referee)
This work focuses on the system of organic agriculture and its impact on soil quality. It compares organic farming system with conventional. Both these systems are briefly described. There is also a list of soil quality indicators used for the soil quality is evaluation. The results of scientific studies, which dealt with different farming systems and their effects on soil properties, were discussed and evaluated. Quality and fertile soil is crucial for production systems, however to define what means quality soil is very difficult. Therefore the number of quality indicators were established. The indicators can be grouped by their nature of soil properties they assess, such as physical, chemical and biological. Different techniques are adopted for soil quality evaluation. Soil quality is affected by a lot of different factors. Anthropogenic activities are often considered as one of the most influential factor. The loss of soil fertility as well as other physical, chemical or biological deterioration of soil properties is called soil degradation. The results of this study shown that careful tillage in organic farming could have positive effect or no effect on the biological and physical properties of soils. For some experiments there was an increased amount of soil organisms. In the most experiments, application of organic fertilizers caused increase of organic matter and other essential nutrients. We conclude that under certain conditions with respect for the principles of organic farming the soil quality can be preserved or even improved, but in a longer timeframe.

Gay fatherhood. Expression of Activism in the Czech Context?
Ciprová, Kristýna ; Sokolová, Věra (advisor) ; Kolářová, Kateřina (referee)
This thesis elaborates on the concept of gay fatherhood, which has been so far insufficiently researched and discussed phenomenon, especially in the Czech Republic. The thesis explores attitudes of interviewed gay men towards questions of gay fatherhood. In-depth semi-structural interviews with 30 gay men investigated in what ways the matters of gay fatherhood are constructed in the Czech context; where and how the conceptions about gay fatherhood emerge and how they are maintained and/or transformed. In general, an important factor affecting one's desire to have children is prevailing institutional context. Institutional barriers and obstacles to having children that are systematically constructed by society, affect not only the mainstream population, but also (and above all) gay population. Therefore, building on review of relevant academic texts, the thesis focuses on a comparison of the Czech institutional context with the Scandinavian and Spanish one. Comparison of different models of enforcement of legislation concerning same-sex partnerships reveals key factors that enable institucionalization of same-sex partnerships/families. One of these factors was activism that became a conceptual framework of the thesis. The last chapter of theoretical part is therefore focused on formation of new social...
