Evolution of eukaryotic ABC transporters
Žárský, Vojtěch ; Doležal, Pavel (referee) ; Tachezy, Jan (advisor)
In the past twenty years there has been a lot of research done on ABC transporters. This group of membrane transporters was recognized as highly important due to its ubiquity in living organisms and due to the involvement of some of the ABC transporters in multidrug resistance of cancer cells and pathogens against chemotherapeutics. This medical aspect of ABC transporters was naturally the most important one for the majority of researchers. On the other hand, the biological aspects and evolution of many ABC transporters remained untouched. In this work I give an overview of ABC transporters of parasitic protozoa and focus on the evolutionary aspect of eukaryotic transporters and on mitochondrial ABC transporters, which are the most conserved ones among eukaryotic ABC transporters.

Processing peptidases of M16B family and their evolutionary relationships
Hanušová, Iva ; Stiborová, Marie (advisor) ; Šulc, Miroslav (referee)
The theoretical part of this bachelor thesis deals with the group of processing peptidase of the M16B family. The main focus is on the structure and the evolution of mitochondrial and hydrogenosomal processing peptidase and also the hypothetical peptidase from the bacterium Rickettsia prowazekii. In the practical part of this work, the constructs coding the α-subunit of hydrogenosomal processing peptidase (α-HPP) with the substituted tryptophan residue in the position 236 for phenylalanine and tyrosine were prepared using the site-directed mutagenesis. Subsequently, the new reporter tryptophan residue was introduced in α-HPP in positions 256, 260, 267 or 271 in the so-called glycine-rich loop.

Southeast Asia as a new tourist destination
Dvořáková, Lucie ; Petrů, Zdenka (advisor) ; Straková, Ivana (referee)
The bachelor thesis is dealing with the development of tourism industry in South east Asia. Its goal is to asses not only the evolution of individual Southeast Asian countries but also to analyse its place within the world tourism framework. In the Czech literature, much has been published about Southeast Asian economy as a whole, but tourism industry, as a key sector of the economy has been neglected. This thesis therefore defines Southeast Asia as a tourist destination and also analyses its specialities and determines development trends, focusing on the period from the beginning of 1990 up to present. Both domestic and incoming tourism has been analysed, as they are both components of tourism in the destination. The thesis presents "Asian tygers" as newly emerged destinations, where tourism industry growth in the 1990s often exceeded 30% Y-o-Y.

Supply Chain Management and its optimization
Alipčenkov, Timur ; Kuncová, Martina (advisor) ; Fiala, Petr (referee)
Dissertation work comes with a summary of logistics evolution in the sphere of Supply Chain Management and focuses readers attention on the processes inside of supply chain. However dissertaion work is not just a huge methodological part, it also comes with an optimization part. Reader meets imaginary company trying to optimize a part of its distribution process by using modification of distribution technology "Hub and Spoke". Optimization computational procedure also consist of Traveller Salesman Problem (TSP). Fictional data for three days of testing where prepared by using MS Excel function of random numbers. For longer testing period dissertation work uses simulation technology represented by SIMPROCESS software.

Plant hormones
Petrlíková, Tatiana ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (advisor) ; Pavlasová, Lenka (referee)
Plant hormones Issued bachelor thesis is to in understandable way approximate problems of botanical hormones not only to university students, but also to teachers and student at 4 year and 8 year grammar schools and even secondary schools. Emphasis are made on theoretical findings about fythohormones with connection to their consequential practical usage for instance in agriculture. The thesis is divided into two parts. Firs part is theoretical. In separate chapters there are in detail explained groups of fythohormones, way to their discovery, characteristics, conditioned by their chemical structure, metabolism in plants and consequentially their physiological effects. Precisely the findings about mentioned characteristics can bring us to the understanding of importance and hidden potential of fythohormones. Second part is targeted to the implementation of fythohormones problems to practical education with consideration of curriculums at secondary schools and high schools. Because our contemporary students are the people who will be effecting evolution of our environment, it is really important to arrange enough information about botanical hormones problems and simultaneously to be able to get these information to them in understandable way. Student, also pupils at secondary schools do not get in...

Anthropogenesis of consciousness
Bažant, Jan ; Kebza, Vladimír (referee) ; Šípek, Jiří (advisor)
What is a development of consciousness of modern human being, i.e. with species Homo sapiens sapiens? The beginning step alone, how to define the inquired object in the research, brings considerable problems and discrepancies in different conceptions and approaches, there is the reason why it is important to answer another question at the first. How to qualify consciousness? In the part "Theories of consciousness ", in the chapter "Formation the term" I try to give a brief succession of particular conceptions about consciousness and a view of contemporary theories of consciousness posted up with the critical reflection. I am interested especially of the development so in the chapter "Development of consciousness" I summarize the up to now findings about evolution of hominids till the top species Homo sapiens. I mention some theoretical approaches there and critical survey of terms. In the last chapter of the first part, I inquire after reasons to qualify the culture as potential equivalent of consciousness. I appoint the culture as an expression of consciousness in outer world that is comparable as well as deducible into history and pre-history. What is possible to deduce from consciousness is possible generally to describe as products of psychic behavior (not only in pure behavioral sense).

Moisture and its transport in shallow subsurface of quartz sandstone
Svobodová, Eliška ; Bruthans, Jiří (advisor) ; Schweigstillová, Jana (referee)
The thesis deals with moisture transport in porous medium of quartz sandstone. Capillary water and its movement is crucial for processes such as salt and frost weathering, growth of organisms and development of honeycombs and tafone. However, moisture transport is still not well described. I focused particularly on two new methods applied to sandstone investigation. In the laboratory I studied moisture transport in sandstone samples by means of repeated injection of uranine solution. I observed the evolution of evaporation front based on the changes in solution concentration indicated by difference in color of uranine solution. Additionally I investigated moisture content in the shallow subsurface of sandstone outcrops in the field using suction pressure and moisture content measurements by microtensiometers and TDR in three locations in the Bohemian Cretaceous Basin. Uranine proved to be an excellent tracer for visualization of the evaporation front geometry and its evolution in time. The results suggest that moisture transport is considerably affected by the presence of biofilms which are hydrophobic and retain moisture transport to surface. In addition, the values of suction pressure measured in honeycombs and a tafone are in agreement with the salt weathering model proposed by Huinink et al. (2004).
