Effect of yogic breathing and relaxation exercises on perceptions of stress among women regularly exercising power yoga
Vašková, Pavla ; Vařeková, Jitka (advisor) ; Strnad, Pavel (referee)
Title: The influence of breathing and relaxation exercises on perceptions of stress among women regularly exercising power yoga Objectives: The aim of the practical part is through research to verify the influence of yogic breathing and relaxation exercises to affective states and respiration amplitude. Methods: In 10 probands (mean age 37.6) were evaluated the effect of the intervention of breathing and relaxation exercises to affective states and respiration amplitude. The thesis is quasiexperiment character. This is a mixed research. Methods of investigation were POMS questionnaire, measuring chest and participatory observation. Results: The results of this study confirm the influence of yoga breathing exercises on the perception of affective disorder and the impact of these methods to increase breathing amplitude. After 10 weeks intervention breathing exercise occurred in 5 of 8 probands to reduce the perception of affective states. It was confirmed that after 10-week intervention breathing exercise will increase breathing amplitude. The increase occurred in all 8 probands. Keywords: yoga, yoga relaxation, breath, pranayama, stress, POMS
Nursing care of a patient with non-invasive ventilatory support
Veselá, Barbora ; Sojková, Monika (advisor) ; Mrákava, Vlastimil (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with a non-invasive ventilatory support method and its use in commercial practice. The intention was to find out what theoretical basis nurses have in the mentioned issue, to characterize the most common indications, contraindications and particularly complications emerging at patients connected to a non-invasive ventilatory support. In the theoretical part there are found chapters about anatomy and physiology of airways and about a principle of an artificial pulmonary ventilation. A non-invasive ventilatory support represents a detailed chapter. The main part focuses on nursing care and monitoring of a patient connected to a non-invasive ventilatory support. I mainly deal with hygiene of airways, rehabilitation and breathing physiotherapy, positioning and the motion regime. Care for physical state of a patient connected to a ventilation and an issue of worsened communication during implementation of a non-invasive ventilatory support cannot be committed. The empirical part contains mainly anonymous questionnaire research leading to evaluation of given aims and hypothesis of work. In total, 200 respondents in four Prague hospitals were questioned and 164 of them completed this research. The research has brought very satisfactory results. The respondents has shown good...
Breathing and its parameters in increased demands on postural stability
Středová, Michaela ; Šorfová, Monika (advisor) ; Strnad, Pavel (referee)
Title: Breathing and its parameters in increased demands on postural stability Aims: The main objective is to carry out a quantification research of wind parameters and specify mechanical parameters to compare the effect of increased postural stability claim for breath, prepare the correct research methodology and carry out independent measurements. The first part of the thesis is focused on the search process of the issue. In the second part of special research was done, where we panned respiratory parameters while standing on the ground and on unstable platform and position of markers in 3D space. Methods: 1. Measurement of respiratory parameters using lung spirometer 2. Measurement of defined points in 3D space using Qualisys technology We measured quiet breathing and consciously deep breathing when standing on the ground or when standing on a balance pad. Total 4 measurements were carried out after 20 seconds. The experiment involved 14 probands aged 22-31 years, 10 women and 4 men. The average age of the probands was 24.5 years, mean height was 172.5 cm and mean weight 68.6 kg. From our study were excluded smokers, professional players of wind instruments, professional athletes, pregnant women, children, people with chronic respiratory disease, CNS disorders, persons with motor limitations, or...
Biomechanical chracteristics of nonstationary respiration as possible identificator of tiredeness under hypokinetic loading
Lopotová, Martina ; Šorfová, Monika (advisor) ; Eck, Vladimír (referee) ; Smrčka, Pavel (referee)
The general topic of this work is to reveal the potential relationship between tiredness cause by hypokinetic monotonous loading and breathing. The aim was to determine if there are suitable respiratory parameters that would indicate this tirednes and, if so, then verify their validity for predicting the tiredness phenomena accompanying huge range of everyday human activities. The performed experiment was attended by five volunteers who absolved measurements of electrical activity of brain, of breathing and of chest volume changes. The course of the experiment and the behaviour of probands were recorded by a camera. In the first part of each maesuremnt, a specified monotonous task (Task Tracking) was performed. The probands have had to follow the target moving with pseudocasual direction and speed by the cursor on the monitor. This task currently reflected the level of reliability and quality of the performed aktivity. In the second part of measurement, the probands had just to relax and watch a movie. Both parts were measured in two conditions - alert and tired (after 24 hours of sleep deprivation) proband. The data were compared with each other and evaluated. The measurements and the results showed that the rate of the tiredness can be fairly reliably assessed by monitoring of the volume...
Breathing and respiration as the source domain of conceptual metaphors in Czech
Bulak, Patrik ; Vaňková, Irena (advisor) ; Janovec, Ladislav (referee)
Bachelor thesis is focused on the semantic sphere of breathing and respiration. It is based on theories and methods of cognitive-cultural approach to language. The first chapter concerns the conceptual metaphor theory, metonymy cognitive concepts and the metaphor combined with metonymy (the metaphtonymy). The next chapter brings examined semantic sphere based on data from interpretation, etymological dictionaries etc. The attention is drawn in particular on metaphor and metonymy, to which the data refer. The third chapter deals with the physical experience of breathing in its entirety (sensory perception of breathing and experiencing of own respiration). There is also outlined, how this experience base is projected into the language. The crucial chapter of the thesis presents the classification of the collected material of language: it shows which target domains are related to source domain of breathing and respiration on the metaphorical expressions excerpted from phraseological dictionaries in the form of idioms. Research has shown that the breathing and respiration in the source domain are used primarily metonymically. Then it is possible to distinguish the metaphors from metonymy (metaphtonymies) and the "pure" metaphors (personifications). Based on the data interpretation there are at the end...
The effect of the intervention program, breathing exercises on the selected value, and the wind spirometry stereotype
OBRDLÍKOVÁ, Zuzana
This thesis deals with functioning of breathing system, concretely by breathing stereotype and lung's capacities. The aim was to find out if an intervention program of breathing exercises has a positive influence on breathing stereotype and increase of vital capacity and strenuous exhale VC. For stereotype checkup was used muscular dynametr, capacities were measured by spirometry. 34 probands take part in the study, 18 of them were control sample and 16 probands were participated in intervention. They were athlets in the age 15,94 +/- 1,95 years, runner to medium and long distance. Probands undertook an entrance checkup, the intervention program, and when the intervetion was finished, there was an output measurment.
