Academic Identities in the Context of Mentoring Program for Early-Career Scientists
Fucimanová, Martina ; Nyklová, Blanka (advisor) ; Pavlík, Petr (referee)
The diploma thesis is based on interviews with participants of the Mentoring program for early career scientists. The paper presents an analysis of the ways in which interview participants relate to what they believe is science. The aim of the analysis is to find out whether their understanding of science is gender-related and what features carry the academic identity of people actively participating in the mentoring program. The theoretical frameworks are the epistemology of science, the theory of mentoring, the scientific environment in the Czech Republic and the work of Pat O'Connor, Clare O'Hagan and Julie Brannen which deal with the research of academic identities in the current neoliberal academic environment.

Examination of the impact of teacher's gender, age and experience on student achievement
Effects of pattern, size and background contrast of prey on discrimination learning in avian predators
Kuncová, Aneta ; Exnerová, Alice (advisor) ; Komárek, Stanislav (referee)
The topic of this master thesis was the effects of pattern, size and background contrast of prey on discrimination learning of avian predators. The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of selected components of warning coloration on aversive discrimination learning of avian predators of different age and sex. The choosen model organism was the Great tit (Parus major). The comparision was done between hand-reared naïve birds and wild-caught adults of different age and sex. The experiment was taking place in the experimental cage with one way mirror. The experiment used a design of simultaneous task with two pray which differed in one component of the coloration (pattern, size and background kontrast). The differencies in the ability of discrimination learning was found just between hand-rared naïve birds and wild-caught adults. Better results were shown by the wild-caught adults. The ability of discrimination learning of wild-caught adults was not influenced by the age and sex. Pattern was the only significant component of the warning coloration due to which the birds were able to memorise the discrimination task. Key words: avoidance learning, unpalatable prey, pattern, size, background, contrast
Education for patriotism in Czech schools
Kyzlinková, Marcela ; Stará, Jana (advisor) ; Uhlířová, Jana (referee)
The key aim of this work is a method of patriotic education in our schools, mainly in the first grade of primary schools. The point of this work is to awaken patriotism in society again. In the first step we are informed about the important ideas that enable to develope the assumptions neccesary for the patriotic recognition and for an increase in patriotic feeling. The theory pays the attention to morality, influencing behaviour; for example, material and physical values and the aesthetic. It describes each historical term individually, from the beginning of national recovery during the first half of 19th century to the present days. It underlines the need to understand correctly the individual ideas and it points out the general chaos and risks of their interpretations in society. It recognises the important tasks that our society has to face to maintain the education of patriotism succesfully. The practical aspect contains the class discussions, interwiews and analysis of individual pupils, teachers, directors and it compares the level and quality of class debats with teacher`s attitude. The main thing was to find out the teachers' personal feeling about patriotism, his or her attitude towards its education and the way he or she communicates this during the lessons.
Visual experince as example and pattern in relation to the expansion and influence into human life
Nohejl, Jiří ; Wittlich, Filip (referee)
The main theme of this dissertation is to define an image as a visual experience. The human interaction is described by the author himself as a perception of the image, which serves as an information unit that could be presented as a possibility, example and pattern for the individual. There is an emphasis on the process of perception itself and on the way of interaction of an individual emphasizing the context of social learning and imitation in this text. The analysis of the principles of this interaction leading into introduction of the partial interactive models covering these processes is formed by the essential plane. The structure of the thesis is divided into ten main chapters in which the author tries to introduce a category of perception, a definition of the image and imitation as a tool of cultural transmission, presentation of the units of this transmission, the process of the interaction itself and analogous example of the fundamental role that a person in this interaction holds. There are also three analogies of these roles, which refer to the anthropological universal interaction describing the man as a gatherer and hunter. Their main purpose is to illustrate the form of a human experience better. Finally, there are reflections on the topic above. The possibilities and results, which...
The Mimesis - Imitatio in the autentic Letters of Paul
Mátiková, Anna ; Brož, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Scarano, Angelo (referee)
Mimesis - Imitatio in the Authentic Letters of the Apostle Paul The first part of the thesis provides the reader with a concise overview of different semantic levels of the term mimesis as found in the ancient literature written in the Greek language. Furthermore, the author focuses her attention on the use of the concept of mimesis in the Old Testament, and the New Testament writings other than Paul's authentic letters. Such a survey prepares the ground for a detailed study of the concept of mimesis in the authentic letters written by the Apostle Paul. The idea of mimesis is present in Paul's authentic letters in five explicit passages (1 Tess 1:6-7; 1 Tess 2:14; 1 Cor 4:16; 1 Cor 11:1 a Phil 3:17). Each of the passages is studied within the whole context of the respective letter, written for a group living its own particular situation. The thesis compares different exegetical solutions from several researchers. Some of the researchers understand Paul's appeal to imitation as a call to be obedient to his teaching. Other experts are more inclined to understand this imitation as an authentic representation of the Cross in the life of Jesus' followers. The thesis tries to prove that the mystery of Christ's kenosis, expressed in a very significant way in the Christological hymn contained in the Letter to the...
Object detection
Baáš, Filip ; Petyovský, Petr (referee) ; Richter, Miloslav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with detection of rigid objects in images. Chamfer matching algorithm, which is built for this kind of tasks is used as detection algorithm. First part of this work is dedicated to theoretical explanation of the algorithm. Most commonly used metrics of distance transform are explained, which is needed for the algorithm. Also explanation of chamfer distance calculation and pyramid representation of information is here. Next part is dedicated to development tools used in this work, which is integrated development environment Visual Studio and libraries OpenCV for image processing and Qt for graphical user interface creation. In last part of this work, practical implementation of object detection is described. This part explains the way objects are rendered, steps for creating a template from rendered image, method to create set of templates, comparison of speed of distance transformation calculation in different metrics, comparison of speed of common and pyramid detection and method of score calculation. The conclusion summarizes reached goals of this work.
Declension of masculine nouns ending with "ambiguous" consonants in contemporary Czech
Klimtová, Barbora ; Adam, Robert (advisor) ; Bozděchová, Ivana (referee)
The thesis attemps to map the current situation of the variance process in masculines ended with epicene consonants -s and -z. Based on the description of the situation presented in language guides approximately since 1950s and with the help of Retrográdní slovník současné češtiny, the authoress compiled a list of masculines with this type of ending and afterwards she verified each noun via corpus databáze ČNK syn2010. To komplete the corpus results the authoress used the questionary survey on selected nouns. From acquired data there was set together a summary which should describe the current situation of this variance in these nouns.
